KarveD w/nacet
EJ STFv1 25mm
MWF stick
Gaia ASB

Seems to be a nacet day. So many SOTD with this blade.

I thought I'd try one in my karve as I was sent a tuck from a friend. I last used these blades about 4 years ago and they were just ok.

In the karve, they were good but nothing like the Polsilver!
The Polsilver is just in a league of its own!!

Have you tried this blade below, which preformed much better than the Nacet blade, it’s very similar to a vintage Gillette Spoiler

Yup, I received a tuck of these with the karve D plate I purchased from the BST.

I used two of them and the other 3 have been put away. They are sharper than the nacet but not very smooth. The Polsilver is much better for me.

Not sure if I'd compare them to the spoiler though as I found the spoiler smoother and longer lasting than these Gillette reds.

That's interesting, I find the Gillette Stainless very very smooth than the modern latest Polsilver, the Gillette Stainless is above the Nacet and the Polsilver IMHO on my own Karve using the D base plate and only reach up to a maximum of 12 shaves per blade, while the vintage Gillette Spoilers reach to a maximum of 15 shaves per blade. All I can say is YMMV.

I'm looking forward to going back to the Polsilver tomorrow.

Trying blades again just reminds me why I settled on the Polsilver over 3 years ago!

YMMV indeed, after trying various different blades a couple of years ago I had settled on Polsilvers as my blade of choice and stocked up on them too. Last year I gave the Nacet a go and found it be (to me) smoother than the Polsilver. I still use my Polsilvers occasionally but always happy to return to the Nacet. And don't get me started on Feathers, no idea how anyone shaves with those!

average to crappy shave today.... tried the rockwell on plate 4 trying to improve on technique with a gillette nacet blade.. not a comfortable shave at all, no real burn as such but more like a needle type feeling feeling on the face in certain areas.

not sure if it was due to doing more passes on plate 4 or the blade itself, or the new lather with the mystic waters

Something about the Rockwell plate 4 today as per @StratMan and his crappy shave above mine was similar. The main problem was the neck on the right side of my jugular and i went over it a few too many times to 'try' to get all the stubble, but in the end, i couldnt anyway.

These days occur from time to time i find, so should be taken in one's stride.

You two above should stop chasing BBS, even for awhile and let your beautiful face rest.

Shaving karma.

If only you had embraced the need for classic vintage razors ...
Oh here we go again, grandpa got his old records out :giggle:

That is the $64m question!

As much as there are any 'standards' vintage is normally 20 years + and antique 100 years +

Not sure about retro
So a Darwin is an antique? :D

The Guerrilla for me is milder...some say it is not efficient, but I disagree. With the right angle it is a stellar razor...

You all are very lucky, that there wasnt a BBS-1 in the box :D:D:D
If only, big tease!

Yesterday I had trouble with my stubble catching on my motorbike helmet at the end of the day... unacceptable
Holy, you measure your BBS by using helmet.
By lunch I'm striking matches

Pre: Warm water, Proraso Green
Razor: Timeless, S/S, 0.68 Scalloped base plate
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk2
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Proraso Green
Post: Proraso Green splash.

i miss the wolf tell you that much mate.. gonna try the plate 5 same blade tomorrow with the warden and see what happens, if the shave is the same maybe the nacet is not for me
99% sure its the lather...

MW is a bit different - start with a damp (almost dry) brush. Spread the sample into a vessel so you have a large surface area and work the water in very slowly. Try to use the whole sample in one shave...I am not joking...you will be rewarded with a very special lather!

Don’t worry, I gave up the Feather DE blades last year it’s too sharp and too harsh, however, I do enjoy the SE Feather Pro on my Colonial General SS razor. But. The Schick Proline SE blade is very very smooth than the Feather Pro SE blade, it’s cheaper to buy the Schick Proline SE directly from Japan.

Thanks mate will try MW again day after tomorrow, already have my Rockwell loaded with a fresh polsilver
