Now THAT may be a bridge too far ...

The APR is in appreciation of the donor of the razor!

My new XL HG scuttle arrived and it sure does lather up and keep it nice and warm. I forgot to put the brush in the pic, it’s my newish TI horn super badger.

My own Oud soap
Santa Maria Novella Brush
Hayashi Diamond
Xerjoff Ceylon

Several months later, I find myself still on a sabbatical from purchasing artisan shaving software.
I’ve also had a beard for a while so it’s head shaves and tidying up only these days, not something that is particularly easy with a straight, extremely sharp Japanese hardware helps concentration.
My soaps performance is more than acceptable, designed to be slick more than any other parameter. There’s about $275 of Oud in there, the scent quality is beyond the quality of the usual Oud suspects knocked out at $20 a tub...

Lovely razors gents!

Pre-shave:- Hot Shower
Brush:- Turn-N-Shave Full Moon knot
Soap:- Stirling - Ramblin' Man
Razor:- Fatip Grande
Blade:- Personna Israeli Red (2)
Aftershave:- Club de Nuit Man EDT by Armaf

The Grande delivered a rather mild shave which required a bit of extra buffing on the usual trouble spots but seems docile enough. I think I may reserve it for the
occasional 3 day growth that needs taming. Wait... I've got a Karve for that! Hmm...
The Armaf CDNM is just me dipping a tentative toe into the world of fragrances via an inexpensive Aventus clone. My sense of smell is pretty much binary (yeah/nah) but this is definitely 'yeah'! The Stirling soap was creamy and slick; what more can I ask for? All good.

Farewell Shave

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: Santa Maria Novella
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Swede (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Proraso Green Splash
Scent: Musgo Real Classic

On Friday evening, I lost my dearest friend, after a ten year battle with cancer. I was privileged to be holding his hand as he slipped away. We were inseparable since schoolboys.
He was a passionate wet shaver, but too shy to do much posting.

His Wife asked me if I could shave him on his final day; a great honour that I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, his birth razor was at his home. He had a two week growth, so I needed some blade gap.
The Futur was one of his favourite razors, so I packed it up with a selection of gear and headed to the hospital, where I shaved him, and stayed with him until the end.

Tonight, I reproduce the shave, as a tribute to my dear friend.

Rest easy, my Brother.

Deepest sympathies 😢

Brush: TF Custom Lime Green & Swirls Transparent 27mm Rhodium
Razor: Smart Helix Apollo .85mm Aggressive plate
Blade: Gillette Rubie Plus (1) - cheers @tim33z (y)
Soap: Cattie's Bubbles Irish Coffee
Pre: Shower + Prickly Pear mentholated pre-shave soap
Post: Paco Rabanne Black XS cologne // TSW After Balm
ATG, XTG, ATG = near BBS

A super smooth pre-work shave slightly spoiled as I nicked myself under the nose chasing BBS. Not the first time as I have a few scars from my youth. The Rhodium continues to wow me with its ability to whip up soft, luxurious lather and assisted well in making an indent into the remaining soap. Finished off with some colgne and TSW After Balm... Happy shaves!

You don’t smell Irish @Razor Burn, because, not enough bloody WHISKEY!!

Gem Ever-Ready featherweight
APR Skye Fall soap and Splash

Superb three passes. The knot really is super soft and luxurious. However, and I knew this going in to the group buy, I prefer smaller knots and I did find this slightly too large for me. Let me stress though, this is a fantastic brush. The craftsmanship from both artisans is second to none and it will never leave my den.

Sounds like you're a bit like me: I've never been into fragrances, but this week I'm going to change that with a bottle of Stirling Bergamot Lavender EDT. I love the smell of that soap (my strike rate is about 1:3 yeah vs nah), so hopefully I can't go wrong... 😊
