Yes gentlemen, the time has come to pursue something else. So the lathe is being shut off after I complete a few orders that are waiting.
I still have brushes available which can be seen on the Facebook page.

Ive just acquired a 1955 Mercedes 220a so that will consume a lot of time and money. Can't pass it up, because the wife loves it and knows its probably going to cost 20k or more

That is a beautiful looking car, hoping you loop back with some progress pics!

Are you planning on leaving the 2.2L engine in there or transplanting something with a little more 'kick' into it?

The original engine only puts out about, what? like 50-60kw?

Sorry.. I've always been a bit of a car nut, and something like the 220 would be a dream for me to throw in a 454 big block with a nice blower on it. :P

I dont think they are a full chassis car. So at most it might get a hot six put in. Otherwise I'd put a nice cruiser donk in like a 302, 308 or even a 318.
Knowing the wife, itll stay stock though as I've spent too much on the Harley 😅

Pre-shave: Hot Shower
Brush: DSC - 26mm SHD Geltip Manchuria.
Soap/Cream: Oaken Lab - Sanctum
Razor: Muhle - Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette Stainless (26)
Post-shave: Oaken Lab - Sanctum AS splash / Oaken Lab - AS Balm

2 pass WTG XTG + touchups = DFS+. Shave 26 and definately there is a blade feel and efficiency difference when flipping blades over. Side 3/4 blade up is slighly more efficient than side 1/2 facing up. I wonder how many other blades I could have achieved better life with blade flipping ?

The Soap, Oaken Lab - Sanctum. Scent strength medium to strong off the puck, and light to medium for the splash. Scent notes, Translucent Jasmine, Dry Bergamot, Dusty Rose, Paper, Sandalwood, Benzoine, Virginia Cedarwood and Patchouli. Oaken describes the scent as
Sanctum is a representation of the spaces that bring solace, evoke a sense of calming stillness, or spark contemplation and introspection. They are spaces that go beyond physical capacity but manage to become a sanctuary for personal healing or a place for one to be lost in thought. These moments of solitude can invigorate creativity, reveal clarity, or simply allow one to just be.
Sanctum is a sandalwood and rose forward scent that opens with dry floral and crisp bergamot, and dries down to its deep, creamy wood base.

I disagree with the scent discreption as being rose forward. Yes there is rose in the scent and blended nicely, though the cedarwood and sandlewood I smell are more prominent. Immediately from the puck there is an initial quite strong burst of smokiness from the cedarwood, followed by the sandlewood, rose, patchouli, jasmine and bergamot. The scent starts and rounds out with the smokey cedarwood with hints of patchouli giving a mysterious and classy scent . This is something I have noticed with all of Oaken Labs scents, is they all have a smokiness to them from cedarwood or tobacco oil used.

The splash is slightly different to the soap in that it has less smokiness, and more of the sweetness from the bergamot, patchouli, jasmine, rose. The splash after about 5-10 mins brings out the smokiness from the scent again and last for hours at mild to mid strength. If you add a woody fragrance EDT ontop, expect it to last a long time.

Do I like this scent? Yes I do. Classy, clean, masculine, pairs well with any woody type scent. I will add this to my 2020 soap of the year awards. Two thumbs up. (y)(y)

Its always sad to see local artisans close shop but best wishes for the future. (y)

The 308.. How I miss the rumble of those engines

Had 2 of them, one as a stock 308 and one stroked to a 355. We knew how to build a great sounding 8.

When it comes to a hot six you're a little limited these days unless it's Japanese like the 2J series! I seriously doubt I'll see a 202 in there! haha

For some unknown reason this video was in my FB feed this morning. Made me think of a certain member here ...

Beautiful? Maybe. Hope that is a LONG lens on the video? Definitely!

My uncle has been carrying a worked 208 around for the past 20 years. Only problem is, if I have it changed and engineered, it will need seat belts 🤦‍♂️ takes the original feel away.

Pre-shave: Warm Water
Brush: Bazlur - 22mm Silvertip
Soap/Cream: Declaration Grooming - Tribute
Razor: Muhle - Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette Stainless (27)
Post-shave: Declaratio - Tribute AS splash / Stirling - Iced Pineapple PS balm.

2 pass WTG XTG = DFS+. Shave 27 was almost a BBS in 2 passes.

The Soap, Declaration Grooming Tribute. Scent strength light off the puck, and medium for the splash. Scent notes, Peaches, Pineapple, vetiver, patchouli.

A really nice light citrus earthy type scent. Intially of the puck I smell the pineapple, peach, patchouli, and vetiver. It's very well blended and really nice relaxed not overpowering summery scent that could also bee used early spring, or early autumn. The patchouli is very subdued, the vetiver adds a little earthiness to keep the citrus notes in balance. The splash has a more forward peach scent which rounds out with peach and patchouli. Again really nice and compliments the soap well.

A very nice simple 4 scent masculine profile ( thanks to the tasteful use of vetiver)that has been blended perfectly to be low key and compatible with almost any type of cologne or EDT. Thumbs Up.(y)
