Razor: ATT Windsor Pro SB90
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Lather: Barrister and Mann - Vespers

Warm Vespers-lather on a cold winter morning... amazing. Zero irritation, very happy with the shave.

Have a great day!!

Pre-shave: Hot Shower
Brush: DSC- 26mm SHD Geltip Manchuria.
Soap/Cream: A&E - Khalifa

Post-shave: A&E - Khalifa AS splash / A&E - Khalifa skin food noushing cream.

2 pass WTG daily shave = DFS+. Another enjoyable blade testing shave.

I don't know what happened to my posts, my last two sotd posts have disappeared. This shave is from two days ago. I think I fell asleep somewhere towards the end of posting as both sotd posts were late evening.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it.

Edit: I did, dated yesterday 6:33 (y)

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: CaYuen "Copper Ore", 30mm AP Shave Co SynBad
Soap/Cream: Stirling Bergamot Lavender
Razor: RR SS Hawk V3
Blade: Feather Professional Super
Post-shave: Shower, Homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+

I've been a bit bothered by not being able to hold enough lather in the new brush, so I went back to my go-to B/Lav to see if I could dial it in a bit better. Used the bowl today, to make things a bit easier (and it did), but still pretty much the same problem. This knot (though so, so soft) is so dense, I think there's not enough room for lather.

I'm going to yank out the knot (somehow, as it's not coming easily, even with silicone ) and try sticking a washer under it.

Soap/Cream: B&M - 42
Razor: Muhle - Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette - Minora Stainless (8)

2 pass WTG daily shave = DFS+ from yesterday. A very fine Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster of a shave. :)

Went to the back section of the soap archives and pulled this one out for a 25th May shave. The lemon sugar scent note more prominent in the soap, while the petunias more prominent in the splash. I ike thie soap.(y)

I'm disappointed with the SynBad knot as it reminds me of a wet boar but minus the performance. Yes its super soft but only good for painting on the face and does a poor job of holding/creating decent lather. (n)

I'm loving that brush handle!!!

Ha! I had almost forgotten about the petunias (Agrajag)...

I think you might be right about the SynBad, but I'm stuck with it until January. I might be stuck with it for longer than that - although I only set it in silicone, it's well and truly stuck, and my efforts to remove it have failed. However, all that stress I've put on the bristles has obviously had an effect, as the knot is now looking much fluffier and less dense, which is sort of what I was looking for. I'll find out tomorrow.

I couldn't be happier with the handle though, it's a beauty.

Reset the the knot at 50/51mm and give that a try.

Even if I could get it out without destroying it, the loft just won't go that low. The socket is just under 15mm deep, and the knot is all the way in, giving a loft of 58mm. I would have to cut a lot of material out of the handle to make it go that deep, and I wouldn't want to get that close to the undercut. I just did an experimental lather with the now-stressed knot, and I'm much happier with it, see here...

I'm not sure how deep AP Shave Co. set there knots as from my experience setting my 24mm knot was a pain as its still way too high despite my attempts at setting it inside an aluminum T-400 adjustable ferrule at the lowest level. Disappointed as the reviews are generally positive and the feel/look is nice but just too floppy.

I can well imagine a 24mm SynBad would remain floppy no matter how deep you set it. It's very dense, but there probably just aren't enough fibres supporting each other to give it any backbone at all. Most of the positive reviews I read seem to be referring to the larger sizes. Now that I've abused the crap out of my knot, it no longer looks nearly as neat and trim as it did, but at least I've now proved to myself in that lather shot that it can create and hold a decent amount of lather. It also splays quite nicely now. As for how I like the feel of it, tomorrow will tell...

  • Prep: Phoenix Shaving - Cube 2.0 Unscented
  • Razor (Head): Edwin Jagger - DE9
  • Razor (Face): Razorock - Aluminium Lupo

  • Lather: Phoenix Shaving - Awesome Sauce
  • Post-Shave: Proraso - Alum
  • Fragrance: Phoenix Shaving - Awesome Sauce
After a BST on the Paste & Cut forum last week, I picked up an aluminium razor, the Razorock Lupo. It is much lighter than I expected, but at the same time not unexpected.

Today's shave started out with a brand new soap (to me at least), Awesome Sauce from Phoenix Shaving, as well my regular go to razor, the DE89. A two-pass shave on the dome, generally gets a shave I am happy with, although I would love to get a BBS up on the dome, but I have a few too many lumps and bumps up there. Not sure how to get rid of them, do you?

Then we moved onto the new razor (to me at least), the Razorock Lupo. My first shave with an aluminium razor. It felt more aggressive than my DE89, but it could have just been because it was my first shave. I'll have to give it a few more spins before I can really comment on its aggressiveness and quality of shave. In three passes I managed to give myself a BBS on the face, so it will enter my razor rotation.

I can't wait to try out the new Lupo again, I'm sure it will happen before the week is out. :)
