Shave of the Day Thread - 2021

Too late. I've smeared it over the trunk of a medlar tree that the possums were attacking. I've found that a few of the dud soaps I've tried were good for that. The best, by far, was Stirling Autumn Glory. One sniff of that was enough for me, and it obviously had the same effect on the critters. I should probably buy a tub of it just for that.

Such a shame all those soaps go to waste.

No Lavender, No Love. :D

LOL

It's a rare thing for any soap manufacturer to make more than one soap that I love, and I'm picky about my lavenders. MW hit it out of the park with Jeff's Lavender, so that's an endorsement from me. Though to tell the truth, I got the message from looking at some of @alfredus' lather shots a while back...

Edit: anything that can keep those bastard (but very cute) possums from destroying my stuff is not wasted, believe me...

nice brush :)

what’s the sweet spot for u on your lupo mate, riding the Cap or bar?
Riding the edge of the blade without slicing chunks of flesh off my face:LOL:
I start on the bar and roll up, some times a little rock between bar and cap until I get that sweet spot, then muscle memory kicks in ;)
Lupo 95 is one of those razors I do not have to buff under the jawline because I can maintain blade contact throughout the whole pass.(y)

How are you finding the Zenith?

Some of these domestic exchanges can be very funny. Yesterday I got in trouble over my little display of brushes on the guest bathroom window-sill: "Why do you need FOUR shaving brushes? That's just silly, you can stop." My response was "Why do you need seven pairs of shoes at the bottom of the stairs?" ;)

Later it occurred to me that if she can only count as far as four, then I'm good. :ROFLMAO:
Funny that, I also have 4 brushes on my side of the bathroom and she caught me browsing the web looking at brushes and instantly said stop buying brushes! Some wives catch their husbands watching porn she catches me window shopping

Unfortunately I also have no retort available to me as being a serial hobbyist I have more shoes (sneakers) and clothes than she does, electric guitars, action figures, watches and now shaving. To my wife's credit, she's not one for handbags, jewellery or branded goods. And lucky for me, its gotten to a point where I have so many things that anything new she doesn't often notice :p

What a BBS combo. Today's Shave was awesome. The Soap without question was right on the money Lather, Cushion, Protection & Post . The Brush well a A$22.00 handle from AP Shave Co matched to a Yaqi Pony 28mm from www.theweshavingco.com for less than A$10 my overall favourite brush right now. The Feather Razor just keeps surprising me more each time I use it, mild but efficient loving it. The Gillette Minora Blades well as a few of you know first hand are undisputed in longevity and performance.

This is my first go with GQ soaps - typical of me, getting on board after the nice lady shut up shop. Bummer. This sample is great. I don't think it's milled, but it's very hard, so I grated it up and smooshed it into a tin. That probably made it too easy to load. I overdid it by quite a lot, so had to correct with lots of water. The scent is light and sweet, and yes it does contain patchouli (arrrghhh :banghead:) but it's tastefully and intelligently done, so I'm not complaining. Nice and slick, and great post-shave feel. I'll be mixing the samples up a bit over this month, but I'm definitely coming back to this one soon. (y)
