A very nice shave off a freshly honed blade. I haven't been posting as we're fairly distracted with all this Covid nonsense and trying to keep a build going. :wacky:

I had bought a few Gold Dollar razors a couple of years ago for a 'shave the balloon' competition for the razor display I did at the time and they turned up as we're sorting through boxes (we're still living in the shed:LOL:). I decided to hone one up and try it. It took a lot of work as the spine was very uneven though the bevel didn't look too bad. I gave it a go yesterday and had one of the worst straight razor shaves I can remember. It worked but not very comfortably or efficiently. I think if I put it on the stones again it would come up OK but really I just can't be bothered. Maybe another day, I have enough really nice straights that deserve attention. It was interesting the sound the plastic scales made when shaving, they sounded........ plasticy, another reason not to go rushing back. I think I'll pull it out another day and have another crack in case I need a cheap blade to give away for a newby to try.

The next image says it all with regard to our building progress.

The trusses for the house are sitting in the driveway with weeds growing up through them. Ongoing hold ups due to material supply issues and wet weather. We were supposed to be moving back into the house by now. Oh well.........there's always next year........

Not much to shave after using the Vector + Kai Pink yesterday so just a few touchups on the troublesome spots. A few more shaves and another soap down and the mixed knot is starting to soften...

Pre-shave: Hot Towel
Brush: YAQI Atlantis
Soap: Blue Devil Sandalwood

Gold Dollar W56 – I wanted a cheap SR to take away with me when camping so picked up this one. I wasn’t expecting too much and it’s no Ralf Aust but it surprised me at how good it was to shave with for the price after a little honing.

Great shave this morning. The 3P (Charity Auction win) is a great soap - so easy to lather. The P&C LE Charcoal Goods a fantastic razor and the El Dorado, well if you have the chance in next year's auction to get some of the Bootleggers made for you - go hard!

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: CaYuen "Copper Ore" 30mm Boss
Soap: Blue Devil Shave Co - TAS Lavender Patch + a few drops of Greek wild lavender EO
Razor: Blackland Vector
Blade: Kai PINK
Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+, Stirling Bergamot Lavender EDT
COTD: Hamasil Village, Yemen

My second (and last) tub of the TAS Lav. The untamed green, camphorous scent of wild lavender (Lavendula stoechas) EO from Ikaria is a great foil for the sweetness of the patchouli.

I find the scent to be very pleasing without being overpowering. It's probably me favorite CF soap second to Ghost Town Barber. They all perform extremely well IMHO.

Sherlock was my first, I'm a big fan of earthy scents but Ghost Town Barber is my favourite as well.

Brush: Chisel & Hound + Maggard 24mm SHD
Razor: ATT Windsor Pro SB90
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux - Rose Santal
Post: The @SpeedyPC aftershave mix

Wow, what a scent. I didn’t make much of it when smelling the tub, but once lathering it really opened up. I got a magnificent true to life rose scent.

Have a great day!

I have found with most soaps, the scent off the tub is rarely a true indicator.

Rocca R95
BIC Chrome Platinum
Zenith Boar
Tabac Soap / Splash

Big thanks to @nav1 for the heads up on the Rocca + BIC combo (y)

I got one puck of BIC in the first sample combo of razor blades I got when I first started DE shaving, and still have a few blades left. Used them here an there from time to time but never got along with them, plenty sharp but also plenty rough.... obviously I didnt try them in the right razor

I can say that these are one of the best blades I have used in the Rocca, previously was the wizamet/polsilver and although my position on these as great blades has not changed, the value for money on the BIC's will have to put them at #1. Loved these in todays shave so much, I just bought 400 of them  and to make it even better they only cost me $50 (y):)

The shave was so smooth, now the super slick Tabac lather may of added to this smoothness but they are an amazing blade for the Rocca for sure.. @Mark1966, @Razor Burn and anyone else who owns a Rocca.. you got to get onto some to try these blades

Cant wait to try this in the Timeless 95, if the curved head theory @nav1 discussed in another thread is correct, it should be a great match for it.. At the very least I got a kick ass blade for my Rocca's
