My Sunday best...

Yesterday morning's SR, a Titan 1919 ACRO T.H.64, had previously not been a great shaver. That morning I concentrated on shaving with this SR using a flatter shave angle of a half or a bit less spine thickness off the skin. What a difference that made. A very noticeable improvement over my normal shaving with this SR using a half to one spine thickness shaving angle.

It's all about technique. I will in future pay even more attention to shave angle.

After yesterday's shave with a flatter shave angle, about half a spine thickness or a bit less, this morning I shaved with her twin brother. This was to see if the same results could be achieved with the flatter shave angle. It was a very similar result.

I'm not sure if this happens with just my Titan 1918 ACRO T.H.64 SRs or if it will be similar to across my SR stable.

Sunday Weekend shave with Cyril R. Salter “Solid Shaving Soap”, a new Tallow based recipe that is lightly scented with Lavender. The 70gm(2.5oz) hard puck is at least twice the efficiency of soft soap so it’s equivalent to 140gmand it cost me about AU$12.00 delivered from Connaught in UK, so that’s equivalent to 8.6 AU cents/gm which is “Awesome” Bang-for-Buck value. Cyril R. Salter have been providing men’s grooming products since the 1950’s in the UK.

Shave Result: I used my normal approach for hard soaps and scraped about 1.5gm of soap off the puck and pressed it into my lather bowl. It did not take long to produce a lovely rich creamy Lather with my standard build method: “Start with Dry soap + Damp Brush, Whisk + Add warm spray water slowly”. The lather performance was excellent, especially at this price level. The scent was a very pleasant light Lavender aroma, scent strength was 4/10. In these difficult times there are still great value soaps around and I will continue to seek them out. The RK SS blade worked well in the Henson and gave lovely smooth shave, however, had some minor corner mouth irritations.

Hey mate,

Going to be honest here.

Unfortunately the Balm was taking some time to arrive and due to losing an order because of that, I decided to cancel the balm altogether.

With the website costing me money to run and due to my current health I will be taking a step back a bit. What this means for Blue Devil Shave Co. is something that will be decided shortly.

I was hoping to be able to keep everything running, how ever sales are so far down at the moment, that I am not sure where it's going to be as of the end of this month.

Keep you're eyes peeled, remaining stock will be extremely cheap.

That's sad news. I really hope your health improves and everything gets back on track for you. It would be a shame to lose another great Aussie artisan.

^^^ what he said!

Very hard to keep an Aussie business going, we just don't have the volume of the US.

Trust you health improves too mate

Goody. I forgot to order a puck of Cyril Salter with my last Connaught order, so I think I'll take your review as an endorsement. (y) I need to get a feel for some of the other milled soaps against the day when I finally run out of my stash of Valobra and Yardley.

gee whiz - not sure what it would be. A pic would be great !
Took a happy snap but from memory I need to set up a Photo Bucket, Flicker, Imaga account or something and I couldn't be bothered. Put my glasses on and it's a Berkley Best Badger. Only a small brush compared to the others I own but it was my first decent quality brush.

Postimages doesn't need an account, you can just upload your image and it'll supply the link to post here. It'll also resize the pic on the fly if you want.

We certainly don't have the volume. But I knew this when I started.

There maybe a silver lining how ever. Something has come up today that may be beneficial for Blue Devil. It may be enough for Blue Devil to remain in the background after all.

I believe in my product, and I absolutely love the shaving community. If there is a way I can keep this alive you can bet that I will.

Fingers crossed...
