Since when have you started collecting 'modern' razors!?
Lovely setup and killer choice of soap/splash as FBR is a real winner! (y)

Relax mate, it is not one of those wolf-persons.

Surely its a photo shopped SOTD picture...? :giggle:

I've used a certain Charcoal Goods razor before too, you would have seen those pics ...

Pre-shave: Hot flannel, Pears soap
Brush: Troycraft "Opalesque" 28mm AP G5C
Soap: Valobra + a drop of Lyndoch (SA) lavender EO
Razor: Blackland Sabre
Blade: Personna GEM Stainless
Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+
COTD: Rante Kapua Torajah, Sulawesi

Almost the same shave as yesterday. The unscented Valobra makes anything possible. I'm almost regretting not having stocked up more of it when it was still being made. Oh well.
Very nice indeed.

I agree on all three: MDC, caviar and single malt :)

BTW, have you had the chance to try MDC original yet? I think the scent is meant to be lavender and rosemary. It's quite nice. Last year, I finished my 50g container of it in a few months.
I've been meaning to. MdC goes a long way, I think I've still got a couple of shaves left in that sample of Rose that you sent me ages ago. I think I'll do what I did last year and devote the whole of September to a proper appraisal of the samples I have in my drawer.

Gotta love those vintage Schick blades.
More P&C generosity from that "Canberra Dwelling Happy Clapping Bean Counter" perfect match with the vintage razors
I see @klinker's recent acquisitions have prompted you to pull out some unobtanium OSP Barbershop and another amazing brush
Very very nice!
Thank you @Mycroft47 I was verily impressed by your first SOTD posting SV and MK doesn't get much better

Lupo 72
Nacet
Zenith Boar
DG TSM Fougere Soap / Splash

Didnt really have much to shave after yesterdays 4 pass assault with the Rocca, but def got the shaving bug back so settled on this mild outfit just for the pleasure of shaving. Only intended a single ATG pass but ended up with 3 ATG passes resulting in another super close shave. Just cant seem to settle for anything other than complete annihilation of facial hair :)

Without doubt this brush is the best boar I have in the den, by far, big thanks to @Holiday for getting me onto it.

I sourced my rose essential oil from Attar Bazar, a vendor based in California. They sell essential oils and fragrance oils. They have a few different roses (eg Persian, French, Arabian). I mix the essential oil in a little bit of methylated spirits(aka denatured alcohol) bought from Bunnings and then add Thayers Witch Hazel (now readily available from Chemist Warehouse). While I haven't done it strictly to measure, I estimate the final product to be have less than 20% alcohol; so most of the solution is Thayers. I use the alcohol mostly to keep the oil dissolved and as a preservative. If you enjoy that alcohol burn sensation post shave, I would add more.

thanks for the info, i love that burn feel when you apply splash so will have to give this a go.. also great to know Thayers is stocked at chemist warehouse, im due for another and the rose is quite nice (y)

SOTN 19.7.22
Having lost track of my blade use, the Bic in the Blutt is likely on its 5th go and it is still smooth and acceptably sharp. A new fav combo.

On either the 4th or 5th shave with the Blackbird, I concluded that I like this razor very much.

While I have not tried a wide range of modern premium DE razors like some of our other esteemed members here, I can definitely say my top 3 in no particular order are the Blutt, Rocca and Blackbird. Actually come to think of it, these are my only 3 premium DEs  I think I could happily not buy a new DE for a while*.

*Disclaimer: not to be taken as decision to go on sabbatical.

Must admit you have mastered it. A seamless transition, can hardly see the cropped outline (y)

Luna decided to grace us with a photo bomb today.

I can see exactly where you're coming from. The Blutt and Blackbird have been the only DE razors to tempt me away from my SE razors, and I've often regretted moving on my Corky, especially since the buyer also sold it again not long after.

Yeah I hear they're overrated and I'll admit I'm super envious to try the Blutt Rasur BR-1 as a really nice looking razor! (y)
