A Blue Devil Shave.

Shave Video

This was my final shave with this month’s featured soap Blue Devil Peppermint Patch (original vegetal recipe), scented with Peppermint, Patchouli and Menthol. Also performed a side by comparison shave between RazoRock Hawk V2 and the BIC Hydrid Flex2 cart, this is part of my cart evaluation trials I started a month ago with my Monday’s shave, after all the majority of wet shavers still use carts. Results were surprisingly even, if anything the cart side of the face had a better shave.

Personally I get pretty good shaves with carts especially combined with traditional shaving techniques and routines. I moved from Carts to Traditional (DE/SE) wet shaving about 8 years ago because of cart cost frustration and to reduce my plastic footprint. Then about 3 years ago my shaving moved to Hobby/Enthusiast status and my collections expanded quickly after that.

@Pbgoose captured the essence of it well here "distinctive acoustic resonance that comes from the pressed metal shell of vintage"
Thanks to @Mark1966 for the opportunity to try some Schick Super Stainless blades

Hi @SpeedyPC Stirling Creamy Coconut is getting a good run. Is it a new favourite?
Stirling Creamy Coconut and Coconut Lime both smell wonderful, it's not a sickly sweet coconut smell, sort of like a mild warm coconut creamy smell and it's good.

Edit:- for some reason the coconut feels great and smooth on my skin.

Haha, thanks for spell correcting 'acoustic' in quoting me. Yes that is the nice thing about a lot of vintage razors, the distinctive character, whether it be by sound or feel. Some (certainly not all) of the modern razors are a little soulless.

AussieWednesday shave with Squadron – SCRAMBLE! Squadron is a Tallow based soap produced in the rural outskirts of the Barossa Valley in South Australia and have been producing quality shaving soaps since 2015. Scramble scent description: “It is a lightly sweet scent with notes of bergamot, tonka bean, cardamom, vanilla, bourbon and allspice”.

Shave Video

Shave Result: Never had any issues lathering up the Squadron soap base and this one was no exception, lovely medium density creamy stable lather produce from my normal generous half teaspoon of soap squashed into my bowl. The lather performance was also excellent in all attributes, a solid Aussie Tier 2 performer in my book. I get an interesting scent that is spicy, slightly sweet and a smoky vibe coming off the lather, strength is about 7/10. Lupo and Cloud gave an overall lovely DFS, even though the Cloud felt a bit tuggy there was no sting from the Alum, there was one weeper and a cold sore just starting to appear in the corner on my mouth.

and it sings so much more lyrical on 5 - amazing the additional audible feedback, blade feel, and efficiency between 4 & 5 using this blade
Dialed in so perfectly I can use 4 on the face to avoid lumps, bumps and weepers and 5 under the chin for added efficiency along jawline
Are you all getting as bored with my SOTD pics as I am with using the same kit? Might have to download some @klinker filters
