This particular blade must have been the result of manufacturing stars aligning. So sharp with enough smoothness. The first pass WTG was so efficient I could have stopped there for a PPS (Perfectly Presentable Shave). Second ATG pass and a bit of buffing resulted in BBS. All that great Blue Devil lather gone to waste.

I do not yet have a wooden handled straight so had to settle for the S.K. Colling & Co in a wooden coffin

I've decided I'm going to stop worrying about when my backup pucks of this soap run out. When it's gone, it's gone. I can't take it with me.

I worked through my Cadman "Bengall" travel 7DS this week and finished this morning with a ¾ and Palmolive cream.

full

This set is not really matching as it contains both 4 x ⅝ and 3 x ¾. This gives me some variety during the week.

Although I am not currently traveling, I'm glad that I shaved with this set this week. What I did find was that all the blade's edges in this set are not of the same quality. Better to learn this at home rather than when traveling. I will need to work on some to try and bring them up the quality of the best in the set.

Not yet sure what I will shave with next week. Oh, the stress of SR shaving.

SOTD – Sun 6 Feb 2022

Sunday shave with Capt Fawcett’s Shaving Cream – EXPEDITION RESERVE is a vegetal base and made in England. Scent description: “Delight in fresh top notes of Pine Needle, Elemi, Cumin & Coriander yielding to an exotic blend of Frankincense, Patchouli & Tobacco, resplendent against a backdrop of Sandalwood & Amber.”

Shave Video

Shave Result: This was my first time using the Capt Fawcett’s cream, I squirted a generous half teaspoon sized blob into my bowl, then as a cream I started with quite a dry brush and added water slowly so as not to over hydrate. Resulting lather was beautiful rich, yogurty and stable. On first impressions the lather performance was also excellent in all attributes, one of the best creams I’ve tried. The scent of the lather is a lovely woody, spicy and green classic masculine aroma, scent strength is about 6/10. The Leaf is a pleasure to use and gave an easy going smooth, clean, close DFS with no irritations, basically BBS except for my cold sore area.

This is my first use of this very dense cream. The scent is quite weak and I could only get a whiff of it when holding the tube (or the lathered brush) close to my nose. I could probably describe it as a very mild herbal scent , something that I don't many will find unpleasant; it is rather non-descript. Scent aside, in every other aspect the soap is a great performer. I'll have to use more times before I decide if this performs better than the red Cella but it is at least as good. With regards to scent though, the red Cella easily wins for me.
