Starting to feel the burn with 1.30 - a bit more efficient and slower regrowth but not quite DFS+ after 2 x WTG

The cynic in me wanted to buy a DG knot to see if they are worthy of all the hype and exuberant price and was fortunate to find a few wet shavers over the pond willing to part with them for reasonable prices.
Definitely worth the hype (y)(y)(y)
Nice brush handle. Believe me when I say "Don't drop it".
My 1st handle that I turned out of leftovers broke in half through the week when I dropped it on the floor.
Oh well, steamed out the Tuxedo knot and binned the 2 pieces that used to be a shave handle.
The used knot is lined up for another handle when gluing day comes around. (Gluing day is the day my medallions arrive)

/ Dscosmetic T4
/ Nordic Shaving Company Coffee
/ Robin Razor Snap V2 base plate
/ Gillette Minora 1/2 (2)
/ The Ordinary Mandelic Acid + HA
/ Nivea Skin & Stubble

Welp. Turns out I probably also had subpar lather the last shave. Shave was smoother last night, though I still think the blade is rougher than usual for a Minora.
What’s the shaving bowl? It looks amazing!

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: CaYuen "Watermelon" 28mm
Soap: Vintage Yardley

Post-shave: Shower, homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+ , Oxford & Cambridge cologne
COTD: Mocha Matari, Yemen

Having had another couple of skin cancers removed yesterday, this time from my right hand (don't forget your sunscreen boys and girls) I'm currently encumbered by a large dressing making the hand essentially useless. So I've put aside the cream I've been using for my SOTW in favour of my King of Soaps, as the milled product lathers much more quickly and easily. Yes, you read that right.

The Vector makes shaving with my left hand easy and safe enough but even so, I was still content to settle for a DFS.

Hope that the recovery is quick .

Lathered with the other DG knot today and this one is a complete DG brush (handle and knot)
Different experience from yesterdays custom made DG knot in Mozingo handle. This knot is very tightly packed at the handle and splays quickly while retaining good density.
When wet this 24mm felt bigger than yesterdays 26mm. The Colibri 1.5 gave a nice comfortable 2 x WTG + ATG touchups = DFS++
Will have to compare against the GC-84.P to see if it's a keeper or "just another modern SS razor"

What’s the shaving bowl? It looks amazing!
It’s a Japanese grinding bowl, called a suribachi. It has ridges as you can see which is to assist grinding spices.

I’ve seen some in daiso but those are small, 10cm in diameter. This one I bought from AliExpress for about 17$ shipped and diameter is 11.54cm, a bit smaller than advertised but gets the job done. I find the ridges help give a very uniform lather but you need to have a light touch at the start as there is a lot of friction before your brush gets loaded with soap as you add water. The inner bowl surface and ridges are unglazed. I may spray a clear coat or something to reduce the friction.

on the other hand, could be good for breaking in boars quick.

Super busy the last few weeks so little time to post daily shaves as using pretty much the same setup with fabulous results. Finally finished this unobtanium soap which is a shame as the base delivered super slick lather with little effort... :(

Stay Safe & Have a Wonderful Weekend!

That bowl would certainly break in a Boar brush nicely, otherwise looks a bit too aggressive and I would think it would make a lot of bubbles that would be hard to beat down.
The more I use this bowl I find works better with softer brushes as you wouldn't have to put so much pressure and the brush would splay enough to take advantage of the ridges. Anything with more backbone will struggle, like the Yaqi Everest I just used, which has more backbone. The Moka Express, Blue Devil Tuxedo and Dscosmetic I found worked better as they were softer.
