This week I am working my way through some of my 6/8 Bengall SRs (they will be posted on Sunday). This morning however, I needed to shave-test a 5/8 Bengall (black scales) that is currently being PIFed here. The first to enter this PIF wins and the shave-ready 5/8 Bengall can be yours from AU$2.70 including shipping. That's cheaper than a tuck of DE blades at Coles!

The 5/8 Bengall was as good or even a little better than my normal 6/8 Spanish point pre-1924 Bengall dressed in Western Australian jarrah timber scales. Both were a pleasure to shave with. The 5/8 Bengall is a perfect example of looks don't make the shave.

Shave Report: Used a rounded quarter teaspoon (about 1.8gm) scoop of soap to generate a lovely shiny creamy medium density lather with excellent performance attributes. As you would expect the scent smells of fresh Lime and Lemongrass with a solid scent strength 5/10. KCG with the Nacet blade was an easy going smooth & clean DFS, next to no blade feel.

The Gear:

  • Pre Shave: Natio Men Shave Gel [A]
  • Brush: BillyGoat “Monolith” with 26/56 Yaqi Snow Leopard [A]
  • Soap: SaltLake Soaps - Persian Lime & Lemongrass [A]
  • Bowl: Whispers from The Woods [A]
  • Razor: KCG with WCS Bamboo Handle
  • Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless (1)
  • Splash: Imperial Bergamot AS Tonic with added Menthol
  • Balm: Natio Men Calming After Shave [A]
  • After Shave: 4711 AS Lotion
  • Moisturiser (Later): Swisse Daily Face Moisturiser [A]
[A] = Australian Product

Thank you both @LesC for your generous donation and @rbscebu for the effort put into converting this "shorty" and the generous PIF

I like the maneuverability and grip of the shorty but definitely have to be careful of that sharp edge and no scales to cover them
