Fixed that for you.

NO! Mine is a keeper - she even encourages me sometimes!

Same here. I guess it's the thought of getting excited about a tatty little box with a ribbon in it.

Thanks for all the understanding guys.

Should I play the jingoistic card and say I'm collecting for Australia?

It's obviously a great service to your country.

Is should be viewed as an honor and a privilege to be able to preserve this rich history, hence any monies spent towards this noble cause should be praised and not scolded, as the contributions you make are solely for the greater good. :weird:

I agree - maybe they should give me an AO and make my expenses tax-deductible! ;)

That sounds like such a great idea when you have just coughed up for:

1960s Gillette Badger Brush - see her e

Mint Condition #77 Set - see here

1946 Milord Christmas Set - see here

1947 Milord Christmas Set - see here

Sometimes even a boy cannot resist a sale ...

Can you turn your garage into a museum / charity and then make your investments tax deductible?

Nice stuff Mark!

Will these actually make it into the collection? Or put in a shoe box somewhere :p

Good question. My current cabinet is actually FULL. I have sets sitting on top of other sets with a layer of foam in between them - not ideal ...

The thought had crossed my mind ...

Look what arrived today from Simpson....

Re-knotted in Pure and Best as they originally were.

Thanks Mark!

Very nice. Complete with new stickers! What knots are they? Dimensions? The one on the left has to be best.

Just got a stick of Sir Irish Moos. Just over 14days from payment. Pretty good postage from Germany. Must admit, never understood the name. What the hell's a Moos, why is it Irish and a Sir to boot? Intriguing scent. Classic soapy. I'll be Moosing it tomorrow! Of course it goes without saying as it's out of production it'll be out of this world! I'm already prepping myself for the best lather in history.

Yep, new stickers and all - didn't ask for that, just happened.

The smaller on the left is Pure, the larger on teh right Best.

I think the knots are 18mm and 26mm - can't measure loft as the larger is now hidden away till Christmas ...

Those brushes look awesome Mark....

You've got quite a big Butterscotch collection going. :D

I think I'm pretty close to a full "7-day set" :D

And a 365 day razor set!

So the age old question:

Which knot is your favorite?

I actually enjoy the variety! This is my current rotation:

L-R

Simpson No 41 (re-knotted in Pure Badger)
Ever Ready No 89 (boar)
unbranded brush labelled 'Best badger' 'London Made' and 'Sterilized'
Milk Churn 2
Simpson M1 Best Badger
Simpson B2 Pure Badger
Edwin Jagger Travel Brush (which lives in my travel kit when dry - used on the road)

I have a vintage Simpson butterscotch Keyhole and the No 10 awaiting me for Christmas.

That will mean my Simpson/Butterscotch set will become:

  1. Simpson No 41 (re-knotted in Pure Badger)
  2. unbranded brush labelled 'Best badger' 'London Made' and 'Sterilized'
  3. Milk Churn 2 Best Badger
  4. Simpson M1 Best Badger
  5. Simpson B2 Pure Badger
  6. Simpson Keyhole
  7. Simpson No 10 in Best Badger

I have a Chubby 1 that I've cleaned up and packed up ready to sell - not sure what I will do with that.

The Ever Ready will then go into a 7-day set of OTHER vintage brushes - maybe ...

They all look great Mark. Very jealous.

Is the milk churn really tall or are the other all relatively short?

Simpson list the MC as 100mm overall size

Superior Shave have their stock with know ranging from 47 - 50mm and handle size of 52 mm

So it is not a small brush!
