(He's in Drub-step with you. [emoji13])

Noting not only the use of emoticons, but their type and non-standard nature, I see @Drubbing liking at least one of your latest posts. Lucky you….for a while anyway mate.

First shave with Barrister & Mann. These four samples I got are the best samples for I've received yet. The scents are all very clear and fresh. Reading his website I was under the impression that he is extremely knowledgable about soap and arranging scent. I wasn't disappointed in this respect.

Vetiver Heather & clary sage was first up. It has a clear smell a bit like fresh herbs, which I guess is the sage? It's balanced out with the vetiver which isn't noticeable as vetiver but it deepens the overall scent. It's not an over powering scent, none of them are actually.

This soap is a moderately hard soap. I cut off a chunk and lathered in a bowl.

The lather was functional. I'm not really used to bowl lathering so it may be user error, but it seemed a bit on the thinner side. I might have used too much hot water to soften the soap to lather. No trouble shaving. Certainly left a nice face feel, and the scent lingers after a rinse. I only did a one pass evening shave but there was plenty more lather available.

Overall I'm very impressed with these scents. Recently had a few losses with samples, so it's good to have a win!

Thanks to filobiblic and his parents, who now only have one pair of clothes for a month because their check in bags were full of shaving gear for grateful P&C members [emoji106][emoji12]

Should we PIF @filobiblic 's parents clothing ?
Nah. They won't have room for all the Vegemite, Minties and whatever else they are stocking up on. Don't worry (and I'm sure you are not), but you've done them a favour since they now have more room to take back Aussie goods. [emoji13]

Nannys citrus zinger

Wow!! Another excellent excellent sample!

This stuff is a soft croap which makes it more NowNicked friendly. Just jam the bristles in the tin, one half twist and your away!

The scent is a pretty mellow orange citrus, sweetish.

The lather!!! This is the king of lather. Hands down. Ridiculously dense and creamy. Oodles of it. I did two passes with the CTR and still oodles. This is one of the few soaps I've really noticed excellent smoothness from while shaving. The scent is ever present lasting the rinse (till I smother it in jermyn st balm that is) but very subtle. Some might complain too subtle. The English are reserved people. Their nannys are too.

This stuff is available at shaver hut now! Though the distinctions are confusing. Nannys site has a hard soap, an original and an olive oil recipe. Shaverhut has an original and a 'new' recipe, which I assume is OO but I emailed to check. They also have hard soap pucs for you hard nuts.

Rule Britannia!

Yeah, from my limited experience I also found that this stuff has excellent lather. There was a hard puck of Nanny's in the recent Travelling Box and it made an excellent lather. Very, very good.

The current exchange rate probably makes the Shaver Hut Nanny's soap a more comparable deal to buying it direct from the UK.

Brush: Muhle Synthetic

Razor: Weber

Blade: Personna Blue

Cream: GFT Sandalwood

A/S: Simpson balm

Nice shave, first go round with the Muhle Synthetic, did a great job bowl lathering the GFT but i'm not sure how it'll go face lathering.

My holiday travels SOTD.

Brush: Semogue 610
Soap/Cream: Benton Clay Bergamot & Lime travel stick
Razor: Hoffritz Slant (4 piece travel version)
Blade: Gillette Super Thin (fresh blade)
After-shave: Floid Blue

This Hoffritz Slant is about 60 years young and another @alfredus inspired purchase. Almost mint since the previous owner found it at an estate sale, still wrapped in original plastic packaging. He used it once prior to selling it. The Personna Med Prep that I mailed ahead didn't make it and luckily a family member has a stash of DE blades. My first time with a Gillette Super Thin and it was better than expected.

Quite a nice shave all-round.

Brush: Omega 31025 'Scarlatti'
Soap/Cream: Jabonman Oriental Breeze
Razor: Eclipse Red Ring
Blade: Polsilver (3)
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Bay Rum

@Mark1966 was kind enough to loan me three razors to test - well probably to shut me up as I might have bleated on a bit about wanting to try them.
  • Rocket HD
  • Red Tip
  • Eclipse Red Ring
Well now I have used all three and there is a very, very clear winner. Today's shave was outstanding. I can't recall experiencing a shave as smooth - certainly this shave goes straight to the pool room. The intent was to test all three to appreciate the performance of the Rocet, however now I've gone and fallen for the hardest of the three to find. But I am now adamant - I NEED A RED RING!!! It is my only exception to the 2015 Sabbatical. WTB lsiting minutes away

So an outstanding shave on all counts. The only thing I'd possibly consider changing out might be the brush - though as far as boars go this one is a beauty!!!!

Brush: M&f style 1/3 finest
Soap: Panama Boellis
Razor: Feather artist club dx
Blade: Feather super pro
Post: L'Occitane cade asb

Decided I just wanted to take my time today and really enjoy the experience so the feather came out. This the second shave with this blade. Three shaves is the sweet spot and the blade looses some of that wicked sharpness and become gentle and smooth.

Finished up with a one spritz of the adp and felt like a million bucks!
