Cold water shave
Preshave: Bloom water
Soap: Shaver Heaven, Dragon Noir
Brush: Simpson Berkerley Badger
Face lather
Razor: Dovo Inbox 5/8

Good scent with this Soap but once the shave is over so is the scent. The straight was close and smooth, thought a two pass shave would suffice but ran my hand ✋ over Face and nah, three passes it was. Topped off with some home made bay rum A/S. Good day.

Thater 4125/1
OSP Bay Rum
Standard Razor
Polsilver Stainless (4)
Bay Rum aftershave

Very good results from this soap. Nice to see a UK artisan soap maker.

Seriously - what is going on around this place?

Gone are the days of @Drubbing buying stuff once a year to refill, @gthomas04 picking up cheap razors and other bargains and everybody agreeing that I was the resident nut-case who had spent WAY too much on shaving gear.

Now we have honemeisters, 'kami' users, frameback photos, soap makers and all sorts of weirdos - and you cannot even venture into the SOTD thread without being confronted with some artsy farsty photo from people who shave in gardens, under gums trees or by bloody candlelight.

What is the world coming too ...

I did suggest some time ago that there should be a separate area for those who felt the need to play artsy crafty buggers with their shaving gear. I have no problem with them doing this but please give them their own area where they can display their visual pornography to their hearts content (and like the hell out of each other at the same time.)

Face Wash : Lime Menthol Glycerine Soap
Pre-Shave : Myrsol Emulsion
Brush : Vie Long Epsilon 2 Band Badger
Soap : Tim's Soap - Columbia River
Razor : Ikon Slant DLC
Blade : Polsilver SI [1]
After Shave : Argan Oil
After Shave Splash : Terre D'Hermes

Today's shave dedicated to @Lifes a Peach and @Osman ;)

Unexpectedly brilliant shave today. It started out as another "stir the pot" shave, this time directed at my friends in the P&C Melb Lunch Club, who outright accused me of crossing to the dark side because I shave almost exclusively with straights and kamis these days. So, in a transparent attempt at appeasement I decided it was time for a DE shave.

The usual prep, but making sure to use a badger brush (synthetics are apparently dark side too). The Epsilon badger made short work of the Tim's Columbia River, producing a slick, cushiony, glossy lather with a very pleasant scent reminiscent of Northern hemisphere softwood forests. Then the brilliant Ikon Slant : to think I used to be a little nervous about using this razor because it could bite  With a technique hugely improved by all the naked blade shaving I was able to get a BBS result in only one pass plus a tiny bit of touching up. This razor with a really sharp blade allows the WTG pass to be skipped completely, and BBS to be achieved (for me) with a single pass combining ATG and XTG as appropriate.

Finished off with the now customary Argan Oil, then a generous spray of the Terre D'Hermes with its very adult bitter orange scent. What a happy start to the day :)

Looks like a great shave @Draco Noir - glad the Epsilon turned up - how do you like it?

I like it plenty @alfredus - certainly the best larger sized badger brush I've used. It makes that "perfect lather" technique a lot more streamlined, with all that whisking power on tap. At this stage, I'm not sure if I like it as much as I do the Epsilon horsehair, but I guess I'm still on a learning curve with the badger brush.

@Osman and I forgive you for those transgressions

Gosh guys, that's really... ermm... magnanimous of you. I should be grateful....

Don't forget the knot is super dense and needs to loosen up a bit...

Except he didn't mention anything about shaving with it - just took a pretty picture. Maybe we need a Picture Of The Day area as more often now in SOTD we get a really nice picture and nothing else.

Very nice picture @Nightguard - good composition - liked the ascending heights of the components. Ooops hang on a minute this is meant to be Shave of the day - Picture of the day is somewhere else (or should be for those who simply want to post photos.(Just channelling my Grumpy Old Man over an increasing habit on SOTD).

@gthomas04 , these comments in the SOTD thread have earned you A LIKE & A DOUBLE SMILEY. (y)(y)

Pre-shave: Cetaphil Cleansing Bar
Oil: King of Shaves pre-shave oil
Razor: Merkur 39C Slant
Blade: Polsilver SI (4) - GSB (1)
Soap: LPL Traditional
Brush: Mens Biz Super Badger
Post-shave: Alum & Speick

Worst shave I've had so far today and can only put it down to my prep. LPL being so soft, I thought it would be good to use the badger. Loaded for about 30 secs, and the result after face lathering just wasn't great. I thought I might have been wrong, so tried a first pass which was rough. Changed blade incase it was that, and went onto the second pass. Nope, was definitely the lather.

So, I just went out and did a hand lather with the Semo 1800 brush and LPL and produced a wonderful result. Not exactly sure why it went so bad this morning. May have just rushed it, or could have been insufficient loading. 2 lessons learnt. 1) don't rush 2) listen to your instincts. If you think it's bad, go with your gut and change up.

@Korbz did you try rinsing your face between pre-shaves and shave soap ?
I've found that sometimes it adversely affects the lather.
