I've just bought some of this from TSW for a mate. It's a very similar scent to Clubman, but slightly more powdery and less cloying.
$17 for almost half a litre (443ml). Bargain! [emoji6]

'for a mate' - yeah, yeah ;)

'less cloying' - are you dissing Clubman?

There is NOTHING like the Clubman!!!

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: FINE Slant
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac
Lather: Mystic Water
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Lather heaven with RudyMac and Mystic Water - picture posted in the lather section.

Unfortunately not much else to say, shave not really improved :(

Brush: Simpson M7
Razor: EJ 89
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Economy
Soap: MWF
A/S: Fine Clean Vetiver

Decided to give the Monarch a rest today. A decent shave was had although the Wilkinson Sword Economie blade leaves a lot to be desired, tuggy and doesn't feel anywhere near sharp enough.

Shaving in Blue

In this sunny spring day I felt like shaving with products having something blue. My pre-shave oil - with its blue glass bottle - Nivea shaving cream with a blue tube and then Mennen Blue aftershave. The only two exceptions were the stellar Mastro Livi carbon Damascus straight razor and the glorious Omega 48 professional brush. I have to tell I like the Mennen Blue aftershave quite a lot, maybe I like it more than Mennen Skin Bracer, although I like both. As for the shave, it was impeccable, smooth and velvety thanks to this awesome razor having an extra full hollow grinding with a superb cutting edge, giving a very close shave. Impeccable and magnificent BBS!
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Nivea Shaving Cream
  • Brush: Omega 48 Professional
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Carbon Damascus "100 Layers", 13/16 Extra Hollow, Square Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: Mennen Blue

Soap: Shaver Heaven Peppermint Plus
Razor: Rockwell 6S (4)
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Simpson duke 2 pure
After: Alum, Myrsol formula "C"

Decent shave this morning. Still need to work this 6S out a bit. I don't think I have found the correct angle yet. It may even rewire require a different angle for each different setting. Anyway, ended with a DFS after a traditional 3 pass this morning. A couple of weepers that a couple of cold water splashes sorted out. And the alum really let me know about it this morning! Anyway, hope everyone has had a great mothers day!

Preshave: Top Seven Emulsion
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Polsilver SI
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Mystic Water Teakwood and Cardamom
Post Shave: Nivea Balm and Proraso Green AS
Three pass shave that was a pure indulgence today. Took my time and achieved a smooth BBS face with not the slightest of irritation or a weeper to be seen. Enjoyed the Semogue brush and it worked up a tremendous lather. Very satisfied. A happy mothers day to all.

Razor: EJ DE86
Blade: Vintage Gillette Super Stainless (5)
Brush: EJ Best Badger
Soap: Proraso Green (May Madness)
After: TN Dickinson WH with Aloe Vera

Managed a near-DFS today after I realized one edge of the Gillette was as dull as a butter knife. Explains why I had so much cleanup on the previous shave. So using one edge only I still managed a good shave with a bit of cleanup, but that's it for this blade unfortunately.

The blade has an R4 date code which I think is a 1971 date if I got it right:

Face Wash : Shower
Pre-Shave : Razorock Pre-Shave Emulsion
Brush : Simpson's Commodore X1
Soap : Meissner Tremonia Mint Ice Menthol
Razor : Eirene (Solingen) Full Hollow Ground 6/8
After Shave : Alum, Top Seven Pre/Post Shave, Bvlgari MAN

I planned this morning's shave last night, but as soon as I had applied the Razorock Peppermint Pre-Shave I changed my mind about the soap and decided to continue with the Peppermint and Menthol theme. It turned out to be a good choice : the face feel pre-shave was wonderful :)

The shaving chores today were handled beautifully by the Eirene Solingen razor, the maiden shave for this razor. I managed to hone it really well before pressing it into service. It offered up the kind of shave I've come to expect from a German extra hollow ground razor - very sharp, silky smooth and very vocal in its feedback. Very enjoyable (y)

I finished up with the obligatory alum, then followed it with a new (to me) product : Top Seven. Sincere thanks to @Osman for his generosity in giving it to me. It's a brilliant finisher, giving great moisturising and elasticity to the skin. It has a dash of menthol and a very subtle but fresh fragrance, so it definitely won't fight with an AS Splash applied a little later. It also penetrates the skin brilliantly, leaving the skin conditioned, smooth and completely non-greasy. It claims (accurately, it seems to me) to alleviate redness from shaving irritation. All in all, a very impressive product :)

And all in all, a really fine, enjoyable Sunday Shave.

Razor: Gillette 'Fatboy' Adjustable (5)
Blade: Vintage Schick Superior Platinum (1)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Shaving Soaps - Barbershop

Love the Myrsol ...

Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Sterling synthetic 22mm
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Honey Ale
Post-shave: Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel

I started using a brand new Semogue 830 however after lathering for what seemed like forever I wasn't getting anywhere so I switched over to the Stirling synthetic and within seconds it was lathering up a treat. (pic in the lather section) Hopefully it won't take too long to get the Semogue broken in.

Once I had the lather sorted the rest of the shave was good, ended up being better than a SAS but not quite a DFS.

Errrr... The Semogues are notorious for how long they take to break in. It'll be about 20 uses until it starts to hold its lather and then after about 30 it begins to come into its own. They take a while but you're rewarded in the end. Not all have the patience or appreciate the end result.

I didn't realise it would take so long to break in so that's definitely good to know. Maybe I'll stick to the synth for shaving lathers and do some hand lathers with the Semogue till it starts breaking in and becomes more usable.
