Me too [emoji17]

No pic today ;)

While vintage Simpson's may be on the expensive side, other manufacturers vintage brushes can be had for a fraction of the cost. There was a vintage boots the chemist brush (probably manufactured by one of the big companies) on eBay uk which went for a song last week.

Yes, Boots were made by Coates I think (?) but lots of nice butterscotch around if you look

Blade: Permasharp (3)
Brush: Shavemac custom 25mm
Soap/Cream: B&M Lavanille
Aftershave: Thayers medicated & Jabonman Gea ASB

So I've been wrestling with the decision between ordering B&M Cologne Russe or BWW Aladdin's Spice. So I used BWW yesterday and B&M today and have decided that it will have to be the B&M. Nothing against the BWW at all, it's a fantastic soap but the B&M is just that little bit better. Both in my top 5 though :)

Pre: La Toja Pre shave soap
Brush: CH1 Simpson
Soap: Stirling Barbershop
Razor: Progress,3.5, Feather
Post: After Balm, Stirling Barbershop Post shave balm.

A nice start to the week with a personal favorite of all the Barbershop scents from Stirling. Excellent cushion and glide as with all of their soaps. I was going to run with XXX from Razo but it always leaves my skin fairly dry so the Stirling was a worthwhile decision.

I thought most of the vintage Boots brushes were Vulfix products. My current one is a 2197.

Hmmm, OK. Maybe :)

I was going from memory. I thought Coates made for a few - could be wrong!

Preshave: Musgo Real Glyce and Proraso sandalwood preshave cream
Razor: Standard
Blade: Personna med prep
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Shaver Heaven Neroli
Post Shave: Gummy Balm and Armani Eau Pour Homme
Two pass shave. Lovely scent of the neroli fills the bathroom. Finished off with the Armani EDT which is a sophisticated citrusy scent with some spice and floral notes as well. Not overpowering and has some staying power.

Late for a Saturday shave: 2:30pm,

Cold water shave
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Soap: Shaver Heaven Vetiver & Neroli (blue tub)
Face lather
Blade: Joseph Rodgers & Sons 6/8 wedge
3 pass shave
Alum followed by Pinaud Clubman

Good lather; Would you really expect anything less from @Anthony? This wedge is sharp & smooth. Another great shave. Finished 3 passes all good and noticed a little patch on my chin I'd missed; you guessed it - tiny nick coming. Hit it with the alum and all good. Just wish the Pinaud's would "linger longer".

Nice looking blade. I've got to get me a wedgey to try!

Razor: Slim
Blade: Schick Plus Plat on around 7-8 shaves
Brush: Omega 10005
Soap: Speick stick
Post Shave: Aqua Velva

Feels wrong saying this about a blade that has lasted half a month, but I was surprised that this morning's shave felt a bit rough. I lose count these days how many shaves I have done on each blade as they all last so long, but with other blades that last a month or more, "only" 2 weeks worth of shaving feels like a short lifespan.

Soap: Shaver Heaven - Diamonds and Pearls
Strop: Kanoyama #30000
Blade: NOS Vintage Kirkuboshi 6/8 full hollow square point.
Post: Alum, Thayers, PAA - Malboge

Well, blew that myth out of the water. Excellent, BBS-, irritation free shave of a factory edge - a vintage one at that!
Okay, I cannot actually 100% confirm this blade is still sporting it's factory edge as the box was not "sealed". That said, the vendor offered to hone it for me assuring it was the factory edge and there is zero hone wear to be seen. Really, I shouldn't be surprised. Geofatby has done a video of him shaving off a modern Boker factory edge but he did not comment on how good it was. Add to the fact that back in the day they used to do things properly unlike today for the most part, especially in Japan with their work ethic and all. I've had that blade for months now and thought I have to shave with it at least once. It's now oiled and back in its box!

Shave on!

Brush: Rooney Heritage two band
Razor: De89
Blade Feather
Soap: I coloniali
Post: floid splash and Proraso red post

The Rooney never disappoints. Fresh from a cleaning over the weekend it made for a enjoyable shave. The de89 is a serious razor despite it often being considered an entry model. Close, comfortable, basically all you need [emoji106]

Razor: iKon B1 Slant

Lather created today wasn't to my usual liking. I have grown to love wet drippy lather. I think I started with shaking my brush dry of water before loading the brush. In my experience with the shavemac, this brush and tallow soaps usually love start dripping wet. On the third pass, I splayed the brush and the lather just explodes out of no where. But this lather created was relatively airy and meringue like. My skin prefers wet drippy lather.

But that is the magic with tallow soaps, I still managed a good shave today, close and relatively irritation free, despite nicking myself a few times. Tomorrow's shave will be the same set up to test my wet theory. Stay tuned for more drippy updates.

I've done it !!! I've been Arko'ed.

Cold water shave
Soap: Arko the legendary or maybe infamous for crimes against shaving (depends a lot on personal preference)
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Face lather
Blade: Dovo 5/8 Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel scales
Post shave: Alum and Pinaud Clubman

Wet may face and applied stick thinking I am not getting enough soap on my face to build a lather. Took my wet badger and started lathering. Much to my surprise a decent lather started forming, though somewhat dry. Added water to the brush and a good lather, though still a little dry formed. A little more water and lots of thick, moist lather.

The scent. Urinal puck? Yeah, I can see why some think that though to me it was more like lemon laundry detergent or clothes ironing spray. Certainly not a soap that would be in my rotation. Great for travel though. Don't need to carry a bowl. This straight was my first wet shaving purchase, before I purchased a soap or brush even. Nice and sharp providing a great shave.

Arko? Well if the proof is in the pudding Arko provided a nick-free shave that was close and smooth. Yep, a quality soap for shaving and ideal for travel. While I didn't "keel over and die" from the scent I can't go for it. I'll use it again for the next few days to improve my technique with this soap and then banish it to my travel kit. Usability: good. Effectiveness: good. Scent: Nah, I don't think so.

How is the slant - and I bet I am not the only one here with that question :D

I know and as part of a cold winter night shave here in Adelaide. Nothing super strong but "I can" make it as strong as I want - or don't want :)
