While I'm a big fan of artisan soaps I also quite like shaving creams. And The Body Shop is one of the great shaving creams. Widely available, cheap, easy to lather and performance is great. And their balm is excellent. May be they do not have the best scent but it's definitely not unpleasant.
The Body Shop Macca Root cream is meant to be good. I've never tried it but I'm not a fan of creams...

...However!
The Occam's lathers superbly, it is easily my favorite Australian Cream both in the Lime and the original with it's chai tea notes.

THIS ^^^^
As @todras says, this is the best IMO artisanal shaving cream and it's Aussie to boot!

You need to try it if you love shaving creams. If you're in Sydney then we should to meet and I'll give you a sample of the original. [emoji6]

Still not keen on the X3, I'll try a different blade next time. B1 slant next.
I think this is the most disappointing picture I have ever seen from you: everything in it can be just bought - nothing is unobtainium :D

Pre-Shave: Cypriotian Olive/Argan Oil soap, cold water
Razor: Wolfman SB-P WRH-2
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Doug Korn Epsilon 2-band
Lather: Barrister & Mann Cheshire
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

i was going through my soaps and couldn't decide what to use today. Then I found at the bottom of the box the last remaining B&M - I can't get as much water into this lather, as I like, but the scent is just out of this world. The lather turned out quiet nice as well actually (picture here) and the shave was just blissful.

Hope you all have a great weekend ahead (y)

Good to be home. I last shaved 4 days ago at least and so I picked up this SE and wiped (carefully!) it all off. So effortlessly the GEM Micromatic OC took off the stubble...
Beautiful scents from the iColonali and Alt Innbruck -they really work well together.
A fantastic shave all round.

Pre: Musgo Real Lime Oil Soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: DR Harris Best Badger H3
Soap: Shaver Heaven Vanilla Oak
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Feather (3)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Cologne: Acca Kappa 1869

Ahh - the DR Harris H3. What a pleasure to return to this great brush. In concert with the SH Vanilla Oak, voluminous quantities of fragrant lather were produced. The slickness of the lather encouraged me to go for an XTG third pass, resulting in a very close shave. No irritation, but a couple of weepers on the neck as I strived for BBS. Wonderful post-shave feel from this and in fact all SH soaps I have tried - great work @Anthony.
Finished with the fresh, spicy and rich Acca Kappa 1869 - just love this fragrance. It is truly amazing how a quality shave can make you feel great and lift your spirits.

Previous post was Thursday's shave. As for today:

Pre: Musgo Real Lime Oil Soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: Razor Master Toivo Pine Tar
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (1)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
A/S: DR Harris Sandalwood

New blade and new soap. The PSI blade was more comfortable for me in comparison to a Feather, with a smidgen less hair removal from each pass. All up a very good first impression.
As for the Toivo - where do you start? The soap is dark brown in colour and putty soft - it was super-easy to mould it into the Grundtal container. The soap is handmade in Finland.

I was drawn to this soap by its reputation of great performance, and also due to the unusual scent - Pine Tar. The advertising bumf is typically Finnish - brief and straight to the point. "Toivo is the most Finnish of our soaps so far."

The strong pungent burnt pine tar scent is sure to polarise opinion, but I have to say that I love it, both when dry and also when lathered. The soap lathers easily, with creamy light beige suds that are both slick and cushioning. The post-shave feel was also very good. I had assumed that the soap was tallow-based, but upon checking the key components are coconut oil and glycerin.

A lovely, comfortable three pass shave. Had a big smile on my face post-shave, and it got bigger upon application of DR Harris Sandalwood aftershave splash. This is my favourite sandalwood - not as sweet as most, but a deep, rich and natural sandalwood fragrance. It worked beautifully with the Toivo.

P.S. Prior to applying the A/S, I sought the opinion of a lady friend on the Toivo scent. I was expecting her to hate it. Her response - "It smells like a rugged man, but in a good way."
She then crushed my ebullient swagger by adding "Not that you are a rugged man."

La Toja Pre Shave/Merkur Progress 3.5/Feather/Stirling Bay Rum/Stirling Bay Rum Post Shave Balm/Ogalala Bay Rum

A nice Saturday morning and a later shave than my usual 6.00am bristle call. The cooler weather returning led me to return to one of my all time equal favourites in the Stirling Bay Rum (B+M Bay Rum being the other). I like the spice and the balance of the rum always seems to work in cooler weather, the Stirling lathering particularly well too with plenty of cushion to protect the skin. My usual 2 pass WTG and XTG, I rarely go ATG as my first 2 passes are so effective with my razor on my skin.

I have long used La Toja pre-shave soap, it's very good value, I like the scent a great deal with it's strong indescribable masculine overtones and it works very well. It comes in a single bar or a 2 pack for $9 from @shavetheman . Think about giving it a try if you have not already.

A nice, sharp Saturday morning and a very enjoyable shave.

"Saturday in white satin :)

Pre-Shave: Shower
Razor: Maggard Razors MR5 with V2 Open Comb head
Blade: Personna Platinum
Soap/Cream: Nivea Men Sensitive Shaving Cream
Brush: Mühle Silvertip Fibre V2.0 Shaving Brush
A/S: Nivea Men Sensitive After Shave Splash
ASB: Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm
Post-Routine: hot rinse, alum, cold rinse, splash, dry skin, balm

And the lather was like that. It's pity Nivea discontinued shaving cream in Australia because it's a great product.

I use the Nivea balm a fair bit because as a chemist/supermarket product it performs excellently. I didn't actually know that Nivea also did a shaving cream (aside from their aerosol nasty cans of gel and foam).

I'm betting they have stopped selling the tubes of cream as it's probably a lot more profitable for them to sell their usual aerosol cans as they have a tendency to release way to much each time so you use more each shave. Either that or the current market trend for 'aerosol' deoderant, shave cream and 4/5/7 blade cartridge razors has led to a decline in consumer demand.

I have used their sensitive skin range from a can when I was interstate, both the foam and the gel but it dried my skin out unbelievably due to the propellant they use. The cushion was quite poor but usable if needs much and the smell wasn't overly offensive.
