Pride comes before a fall. Been shaving gang-busters the last week and a half. Doing the first pass WTG on my non dominant left hand (I have physical coordination disabilities on my LHS) I lifted the razor AWAY from my face after completing a pass and forgot to think, leaving the square end against my cheek and a one inch slice up my cheek later. Apart from that and the blood, it was a great shave. Probably a week or so to heal up.

All the reasons I could never be a straight shaver right there!

Sorry to hear about this Dale but thanks for the reminder ...

Ouch. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Dale.

Razor: None
Blade: None
Brush: None
Soap/Cream: None
Aftershave: None

I didn't shave today. Not that I forgot or anything, I made a conscious decision not to.

This doesn't happen often.

It is worth recording for posterity.

OK, maybe not - but I have now :)

Will you guys still talk to me?

Pre-Shave: Shower
Razor: Edwin Jagger Kelvin
Blade: Voskhod
Soap/Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream
Brush: Semogue 1305
ASB: The Stray Whisker After Balm
Post-Routine: hot rinse, alum, cold rinse, balm

After yesterday fiasco with Mike's soap I decided to give myself some rest and shave with something I really like and proved to give excellent results. Brush was the same as yesterday and TOBS gave nice slick lather almost instantly. No long and hard work in the morning when you are in rush. BBS as the result, but no photo.

Pre: Occams Original
Brush: Simpson Ch1 SB
Razor/Blade:
Progress,3.0, Feather
Soap:
Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
After: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man After Shave Balm

A nice uplifting scent for the middle of the week and great performance from the Stirling as usual. Usual 2 pass with no touch ups which was good because I was in a bit more of a hurry than usual.

Oh go on...once bitten, twice shy. You won't make the same mistake twice! All it takes is a little more concentration and thought. You can't mindlessly zip around your face like you can with a DE. Very soon the muscle memory kicks in the same it does with anything and you are shaving safe and easy.

Preshave: Musgo Real Glyce soap and Proraso sandalwood preshave cream
Razor: Weber Polished Head on an Ikon handle
Blade: Polsilver Vintage(2)
Brush: Maggards Synthetic
Soap: PannaCrema Sanfrancesco
Post Shave: Nivea Balm and Club de Nuit Intense Man EDT
Three pass shave of extraordinary comfort. The PannaCrema is top shelf soap with beautiful lather and excellent post shave properties. The vintage Polsilver was as good on second shave as the first. Giving the Club de Nuit a run today.

Face Wash : Musgo Real Lime Soap
Pre-Shave : Proraso Green Pre-Shave
Brush : Omega Silvertip Travel
Soap : Valobra Patchouli
Soap Dish : Soil Brand Diatomaceous Earth (Japan)
Razor : Alisblade Raptor 54
After Shave : Alum, Top Seven Balm, Davidoff Cool Water

A great shave today, dedicated to our friend @silver who very kindly gave me the wonderful soap dish. It's quite a thing - the diatomaceous earth soaks up water like you wouldn't believe. When you plonk the pre-shave soap down on it, it sucks the water up almost instantly, leaving the soap dry and firm. Thanks @silver, I love it mate

After the prep, I selected the Valobra Patchouli soap for the first time in ages, and coupled with the amazing little Omega delivered a brilliant lather - glossy, slick, not too cushiony and pleasant smelling. Then on to one of my very favourite razors - the Alisblade Raptor 54. Wow, the fun just doesn't stop with this razor : it's like jumping into a WRx every time I shave with it. Anyway, it gave me a top shelf shave; comfortable, close and totally enjoyable.

I finished off with the usual Alum and Top Seven, and a bit later treated myself to a generous splash of Davidoff Cool Water. Happy Shaver here :)

Glad you liked it. That raptor razor sure looks amazing. Lovely set up!

Where can I get one of those dishes @silver - my pre-shave soaps sometimes melt away...

You can get them here, the physical shop is located near South Melbourne Market.
Soil is the brand of the soap dish and they make a lot of products out of diatomaceous soil which is an amazing material.

https://www.koncent.com.au/collections/soil/products/soap-dish-circle?variant=20750197446

I have the dish that is actually a mixture of diatomaceous soil plus some tiny pebbles. Whilst it does it job, but I reckon the pure diatomaceous dishes seems to suck in water better.
However, I use the dish to store my shower soaps in the shower, the pure diatomaceous dishes might be not as durable when always exposed to water compared to the mixed pebbles.
If you plan to keep preshave soaps next to the basin, while it is not always drenched in water, the pure diatomaceous soil one will work fine. Let me know, I can swing by the next time and get it for you, the online price is a tad higher than what it is in the physical store.

Many thanks @silver - but I think I might be in Melbourne in ~6 weeks or so, then I can pick it up myself and indulge in a couple of fried dim sims as well ;)

Stirling Kong
Caties Bubbles Florentine Fern
Ikon X3
Vintage Wilky (3)
Lanvin L'Homme Sport AS

I can confirm the X3 is a lot smoother with a different blade this time around. Much better result. Interesting scent on this new soap, not really for me though.

An unheard of two shaves for me today.
An unsatisfying, unfinished shave this morning (interrupted by blood curdling screams from the 18 month old (turns out we ran out of cheerios so he had to have toast for breakfast)), meant I had to do as little tidying up tonight.
Slim, omega, London bridge, and the last of the paa Al Fin.

It was a shave.

Now do I try another sample next or one of my new (to me), as yet untried menthol soaps?
