I originally went with (and love) the lime and peppercorn, but the Ogallala Bay Rum Sage & Cedar is rapidly becoming one of my favorites. They have really hit the nail on the head with that one especially with the Cedar notes not being overly dominant.
+1 I had the similar impressions too.

But seriously though, do I need more than 10 splashes? I'm sealing wallet tight for this month.

The Ogallala? Many thanks to @saku39 during the meet, I got to sample the scents of the other ranges - sage and cedar, sandalwood, original Bay rum.

Sandalwood - brings a little sweetness, not too bad but not my favourite
Sage and cedar - I sure am getting one next time around. Very green and Herby, works well with the cloves that Ogallala is a little strong on.
Original Bay rum- classic, but I prefer the ones with a little twist.

YMMV
I was referring to the drinking variety!

Ah yes, Diplomatico Reserva from Venezuela. Very beautiful rum. Like sugar cane juice, rich and fantastic. I think you can use it as an aftershave splash as well. If you don't mind ants.

A mate of mine at work recommended another one to try, Dictador 20 YO from Colombia. I'm keen to try it.

With a little help from my friends...

Face Wash : Black Nubian Soap (Thanks to @Lifes a Peach)
Pre-Shave : Myrsol Emulsion
Brush : Thater 2-band
Soap : Henri et Victoria - Cognac and Cuban Cigars (Thanks to @Psmith)
Soap Dish : Soil Brand Diatomaceous Earth (Thanks to @silver)
Razor : Wacker Barbier's Bride 6/8
After Shave : Alum, Top Seven Balm (Thanks to @Osman)
Fragrance : Hanae Mori - HM

Today's started off really well - the Black Nubian soap had both a great fragrance and a brilliant face feel. Thanks @Lifes a Peach - I love it! The diatomaceous earth soap dish will ensure that it doesn't dissolve and get wasted. Thanks @silver, that soap dish has already become indispensable!

Lathering was handled by the Thater and Henri et Victoria soap. Thanks so much for the soap @Psmith. I'm really sorry it doesn't agree with your skin, but if it's any consolation I think it's the best fragrance I've ever smelled in a shave soap : simply superb! The lather was sensational too - rich, creamy, slick and protective. I'll be buying some more of these soaps.

And now the shave. I got this razor last week and have shaved with it a number of times. I had to be sure I wasn't dreaming before giving an opinion. I don't think there's any doubt after a few shaves : this razor is simply the best shaver I have ever used. It is incredibly smooth and gentle while delivering a shave so close that the skin takes on a "sheen" in the light. A few of you know I have a small but nice collection of fine straights, and I never imagined that a razor could come along and be so obviously superior to almost everything else I own. The Barbier's Bride is an absolutely sublime razor, and I'd recommend it without hesitation.

A quick application of alum followed by the Top Seven post-shave emulsion took care of the post-shave beautifully. Thanks @Osman, I'm still absolutely loving this product. It's a lovely finish to a shave. And finally the fragrance for today is Hanae Mori's HM.

Without doubt, one of the very best shaves I've ever had :)

Fantastic @Draco Noir - very happy shave (y)

Pre-Shave - Shower & Musgo Real Classic Scent Pre-Shave Oil Soap
Brush: - Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic Badger
Lather: - Haslinger Schafmilch Rasierseife Sheep Milk & Lanolin (very similar to MWF)
Razor: - Muhle R41 v2013 with a iKon Bamboo Handle
Blade: - Polsilver Super Iridium #4
Post Shave: - Alum Block / T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / The Stray Whisker Aftershave Balm

Wow  the Polsilver Super Iridium blade is still going a bit strong pretty sharp and very smooth on the R41 v2013 head which is very interesting during the shave no tugging so far or any irritation so far, I'm not so sure if I should keep on going during my next shave soon with the PSI #5 using the R41.

Mastro Livi for USA

Vacation time. I decided to put in my luggage the two latest Mastro Livi straight razors I recently added to my collection because I want to try them both and enjoy them as much as possible. I therefore ended up taking with me the two CarboInox razors with scales in which there is an insert of the flags of Italy and USA. Last Sunday I tried the one with Italian flag, so today has been the turn of the straight razor having the USA flag. They are both magnificent with superb CarboInox blades, including this one having a simpler pattern however beautiful. Not to mention how smooth and effective it is in shaving, giving - just like all Mastro Livi razors - a very close and velvety shave. The finishing touch has been delivered by my super cool and super refreshing Thyrrenus aftershave, ensuring a cooling relief from summer heat.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Aquagena Shaving Soap
  • Brush: Mühle Modern 281 H 23, Fine Badger, Pine - 21 mm knot
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi CarboInox USA, 13/16 Full Hollow, Spanish Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: RazorGuy Thyrrenus

Pre-Shave : Blind Barber Facewash
Brush : Semogue 610
Soap : Santa Maria Del Fiore
Razor : Gillette Slim Adjustable (7)
Blade: Voskhod (2)
After Shave : Myrsol Plastic Shave

Voskhod was better today, nice and smooth. I hadn't taken the brush or the SM d Fiore out in a while (thanks to @silver for reminding me) so gave them a spin today. Both worked admirably and a simple, clean BBS followed. Nice.

Pre: Pears Transparent soap
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 "Pure"
Soap: Antiga Barbearia
Razor: Gillette open comb
Blade: GSB (2)
After: Alum, Myrsol Formula "C", Natio balm

Something was off tonight. Not sure if it was because I put the kids to bed between showering and shaving or something else. :(
The result is not bad, DFS, but the journey and the post shave feel is lacking. Lucky there is always the next shave to make up for it!:)

Soap: EJ Lime & Pomegranate
After: TN Dickinson WH with Aloe Vera

Decide to give the new Standard a run with the 7OC Black as that was my most recent blade, so it would be easiest to compare with my EJ86.

Incredible audible feedback compared to the EJ86! The Standard lets you know what it is doing all the time, constantly murmuring in your ear. The shave itself was really very good, despite the 7OC having a couple of nips at me.

I found it a very comfortable shave. The razor is very light, just needs a finger on the handle to control it, but no pressure.

Ended up with one of my best DFS in quite a while.

If you're curious about the difference in the head, here's a photo comparing it the the EJ86 - both with the 7OC blade:

Pre: Myrsol Antesol
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac 2 band
Soap: Stirling Bay Rum
Razor: iKon B1 Slant
Blade: GSB
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Ogallala Lime and Peppercorn Bay rum

Rough start, while disposing the old GSB, I accidentally cut myself with the old blade. Resulted in a deep cut on my middle finger.

Initial whiff of the Stirling Bay rum, it smells savoury. Like sniffing into a conch shell. Lather was fantastic and amazing. Expect nothing less from Stirling. Doesn't take long to get that ultra slick lather as well. Maybe the dripping blood helped lather it quicker.

Had a zit on the lower right jar, totally forgot about it and sliced through it. Wowzors, [emoji15]

I still find the GSB not as smooth as my favourites. Definitely a sharp blade, and does its job. I recall it pairing best with the OSS. It's been a long time since I reached for the OSS Dual comb.

2 pass plus some touch up, resulted in a BBS irritation free shave. Then I dropped my alum block. Luckily it didn't shatter, just chipped off the corner. Despite the mishaps, I did achieved a damn good shave today. Ready for tomorrow.

Nice one, Smithy. Glad to see that the mass finally dropped, and worked a treat straight out the box.

Pre: La Toja Oil Soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion

Soap: RazoRock XXX
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: PSI (2)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
A/S: Penhaligon's Bayolea

You know that moment when you've finished your last pass, but everything is working so well that you can't resist going back for a brief cleanup? Had one of those today - a dead-set corker of a shave.
I'd been meaning to go back to the RazoRock XXX soap, as my first use had been unsatisfactory. I sought some advice on the matter - thanks @Osman - and loaded heavy using a wetter brush than normal. Suds looked OK, but the performance was a vast improvement. Really good glide, cushion and slickness. The only thing lacking a bit was post shave feel.
The big bonus for me was no irritation, which is rare for me when going for a BBS shave.
Finished with Bayolea aftershave. Penhaligon's really nailed it with this scent - fresh spicy citrus, which develops slowly towards musk and subtle woods, but retains a zing. Whilst it is not cheap, it has longevity and sillage more akin to a cologne. Another of my favourite aftershaves with this characteristic is DR Harris's Sandalwood.

Mark's Myrsol and Mike's Madness - Day Three

Razor: Fine Accoutrements Slant Razor
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum 'Black' [India] (3)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson H2 boar
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Shaving Soaps - Barbershop
Aftershave: Myrsol Antesol

Off to ADL on the first flight this morning for an overnighter - forgot about this so day four will be Friday (so confusing!)

Yeah - another great shave ...

Pre: La Toja
Razor: Progress,3.5, Razor
Brush:
Occam's SB
Soap: St James of London Sandalwood & Bergamot
After:
St James of London Sandalwood & Bergamot Post Shave Gel
Aftershave:
Phoenix Amber

Middle of the week pleasing, a bergamot hit to lift the mood after the torrential rain and strong onshore winds we have been receiving. No complaints from me, SJOL always a good cream to work with and the addition of PAA Amber made for a nice long lasting musk lift post shave.
