You get surprised sometimes how good cheap shaving gear can be.
I bought this tube of Godrej in Singapore for something like $1.50, and for the price it gives a really good lanolin lather. OK the scent isn't as nice as many others I have since tried, but I can't complain about the shave I just had.

What a superb start to the day!!! I too love @Occams shave cream, and that Chatillon Lux post-shave....mmmm!!!

Haven't heard from Darcy at @Occams in a while. He was working on new products last I heard.

Again I'm late to the party but 2 passes last night with the Russian straight [Ivan's brother Boris or Bill - they are triplets so look similar] Anyway I digress. I opened a new package from Portugal yesterday and another pig joins the stye. This one is a Semogue 2000. I have to report this one had no boar funk and and has softened up with minor break in treatment to produce a good lather with just a few hand lathers and the mandatory hair drier treatment to artificially encourage the ends to split. No hair loss. People report these as a "big" brush, not at all, I say ideal both for face and bowl.

Soap: Kokum-Tallow combo with a decadent excess of Lemon myrtle.
Brush: Semogue 2000 [nowhere near broken in but still excellent] @Gabe_Shaves_Australia - I concur with your review.
Razor: One of the triplets.

I confess a nick but claim responsibility and yet also happily smile at the thought of doing it all again tonight. :)

Pre: Myrsol Antesol
Brush: Wolfwhiskers Ubersoft II
Soap: Mike's Hungarian Lavender
Razor: Standard
Blade: Feather
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Ogallala Sage and Cedar

Being a synth, yes it doesn't hold as much water. It's okay, just load with a slightly wetter brush. Then keep loading and hydrating the lather. Mike's can take in so much water, and then some more. Fantastic soap this one here. Lather was great, moist and fat.

Standard performs very well. At the chin area I had some trouble getting some stubborn stubbles out. I have to approach with a steeper angle of attack. Whoala, gone. There is no disobeying the Feather blade (if it's a fresh sharp blade). No stubborn stubbles left.

Finished with my usual line up of finishers, plus the fantastic Ogallala Sage and Cedar. Very nice shave achieved. Lather is 80% of the shave.
Good detail on how how you use the various tools of the trade. Insightful for everybody else who may be having issues with their use. (y)

Brush - ?
Cream - Simpson's Peppermint and Rosemary
Razor - Merkur 34c
Blade - Personna Lab Blue (1)
Post Shave - Witch Hazel, Crabtree & Evelyn Sandlewood Balm

Been not shaving this week to let my face recover from an allergy, so today is my 1st shave of the week and 1st SOTD post.
Had a great three pass shave with zero irritation. Feels great and the wife is happy to see the beard gone!

Have a great weekend everybody!

Haven't heard from Darcy at @Occams in a while. He was working on new products last I heard.

I chatted with Darcy a few months ago in relation to him releasing post-shave balms for most of his scents and he indicated it is a possibility but that he has a fair bit on. Occam's creams are so good that I sent a good friend of mine in the Netherlands a complete Occam's brush, both creams and pre-shave soaps set a few months back via Darcy. My friend could not believe how good the cream was from Australia and he has been raving about it ever since - Unfortunately he also got slugged with 45 euros duty as Australia is not in the EU and luxury items are heavily taxed so future sends have been 'gifts'.

I just woke up out of bed an hour ago, went to bed at 3:45am in the morning watching the Games of Throne ;):p:D

I'm a creature of habit, I wake up at 6.10am sharp every day and have done for the last 25 years or so... even on weekends, so if I sleep in I start to think my standards are slipping :D

I am also really keen for the final season of Game of Thrones, currently I'm really liking Mr Robot though - fantastic and very authentic infosec drama, really fresh and innovative script and story writing. Check it out if that's the kind of thing that might appeal!

Pre-Shave: Cypriotian Olive/Argan Oil soap, cold water
Razor: Standard Razor (kindly on loaned by @boldsworth)
Blade: PolSilver SI (2)
Brush: Nathan Clark Envy White
Lather: Mystic Water Bergamot, Cedarwood & Juniper
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I think this is it for me and the Standard. It is a very nice razor and gives really nice shaves (again many thanks to @boldsworth for loaning it to me) - but it could not replace any of my razors in the den.

I would say it is 90-95% there, but there are some tiny issues: the screw, the handle can get slippery and the face feel for me is not as smooth as I like.

For this price point it is definitely a winner - the fit and finish are just superb and the shave is very nice. But I can't justify buying it just as a travel razor and then not using it the rest of the time.

Thanks to @unobtainium81's SOTD picture and to my friend @Draco Noir , I realised, that I already have a great travel razor in the den: my ATT S1

Yes, it is not the cheapest razor, but certainly replaceable should something happen and it also fulfils all other demands I have on a travel razor: I can use it on autopilot, the shave is smooth and it can tackle some heavy growth as well, which inevitably happens when I am on the road. It is not as perfect as the Stealth Slant in all those regards, but by far easier to replace.

While there is a lot of talk about razor/blade combos, I am coming to realise that there are also some special brush/soap combos - certainly my Envy White knot and Mystic Waters are an absolute perfect match - the resulting lather (picture here) was simply superb.

All in a great shave and a fantastic start to a hopefully very quiet weekend - I hope you all enjoy yours as well (y)

Menthol Mist - that describes my vision for 30 minutes after applying B&M Arctique aftershave.
