Fragrance: L'Occitane Baux EDT

Yesterday morning I've bought the L'Occitane Baux EDT at Westside Plaza in west of Edinburgh and I love the scent it very long lasting smell of Vanilla and Tonka Bean WOW any of you guys got the L'Occitane Baux EDT
Yep. I think a few of us have it. It's popular for good reason. I have it as a scent for the cooler months so it's not out and about just yet.

If you love L'Occitane's Baux/Bavx you'd love Caties Bubbles "Le Piment de la Vie" (The Spice of Life) and Jabonman/Eurofas "Brisa de Oriente" (Eastern Breeze) shaving soaps. Both have that cinnamon and vanilla in a complexity of delicious scent. Exquisite and worth getting to match if you enjoy that EDT. Why not make a whole shave of it?!? [emoji38]

Another Simpson Manchurian here - beautiful and I would love to hear your thoughts!

Don't worry - the knot will loosen up in ~5-10 shaves and you will be happy ;)

Mine is emperor 3. 22x50 mm from memory not 100% sure. Took a lot of uses to break it in as it was very coarse to begin with. After 50+ shaves it has strong backbone, high flow through and velvet tips. Almost gave up on it early on but I'm glad I didn't as the handle is one of the best I've come across.

Pre: Aesop Tea Tree Exfoliator
Brush: Semogue Owners Club
Cream: TOBS Sandalwood
Razor: iKon B1 OSS
Blade: Feather
Post: Alum, Thayer WH Aloe, The Stray Whisker post shave balm

This is the first time using the SOC for preparing lather for actual shaving, I have been lathering it once to twice a day for the past week since it has arrived to break it in. Sure does take a lot longer to soften it as the bristles haven't really split up yet.

Still, it is a good brush if not a bit scrubby, can only imagine in a few more months time when it is fully broken it, it really would be a great brush.

The TOBS sandalwood is a top notch cream. I love it's scent so much and it's very slick, however, my skin is showing slight irritation towards it. That is unfortunate as I really like this cream.

The current feather blade is in its third use, and really is having a tough time going against the grain. Kept tugging and tugging, and even xtg passes left a lot of stubbles behind. Swapped a new blade during the third pass because I strongly believe that my lather is good. Day and night difference. Rewarded with a BBS shave. 4 passes in total, no irritation or burns.

For those who are not confident with their lather, like myself, I have learnt a lot from the Lather Shots thread here in P&C. Strongly recommend everyone to visit the thread. Or just come and show us grasshoppers what good lather looks like and give out pointers!

I really only make soap for myself for fun. @Anthony has a great reputation and much better labels and containers :)

Steve
fair enough, I do like@Anthony's soap, would have liked to try a p&c members home made soap. But it is obviously difficult when in another state...
Maybe a recipe to potentially try making something myself...

By the way, it's good to hear that you are well. Hope you get those blood thinners under control, and back to your old self again sooner rather than later. [emoji2]

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (8)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson H2 Boar
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Marlborough
Aftershave: Mysrol Formula C

Light Brigade still going strong in the Fatboy.

Decent lather with the Simpson boar but the face feel is really nothing to write home about.

Myrsol = delight.

SOTD
Gillette Toggle (Borked Børk Børk)
Semogue 1250
Vodskhod Blade
SW Cherry Bomb (SYDBJW)
L'Occitaine Shave Balm
GFT Ajaccio Violet

Now this is getting really interesting for me the Toggle is really starting to get my attention is it better than the standard Gillette Fat Boy I'm going to reserve judgement on that for a few more days but I have to be honest it could be possible. I set it on 4 today I used a Vodskhod second time useage and it was a brlliant shave, close & comfortable coupled with the SW Cherry Bomb which I might add is a very good soap easy to lather great application no irritation and post shave feel is smooth & soft definately a rating of 9/10 the other Artisian applications are all high quality and are what is expected and very very good. In addition Bork overnight gave me a thread that refers to the Toggle dismantling and I have taken the liberty to copy this for your reading very interesting and some may have already seen & read

In addition addition I found by the famous CAPS his video on the same subject which may find additionally interesting.

Anyway, back on topic ;) [didn't take long to stray did it really - second post in!]

Brush: Vintage Simpson Butterscotch AS2
Soap/Cream: Le Pere Lucien
Razor: Vintage Gillette L1 Slim Adjustable (7)
Blade: Vintage English Wilkinson Sword (4)
Post-shave: Le Pere Lucien
Cologne: Penhaligon's Halfeti

Great start to the New Year. The AS2 is probably my largest brush in active use - I need to remember that when loading.

Much more than two passes of rich, yoghurty lather today. The LPL post shave has a great feel and who could NOT like the scent of a $A300 cologne!

Maybe I will not suffer too much in this sabbatical year ...

Best wishes to all for the New Year!

[EDIT: Shave followed up by maple infused bacon and eggs on wholemeal country grain toast with smashed avocado and I'm sitting here sipping my coffee from my moka pot. Great start to the year!]

Now Mark I know you might be an adversery of the SLIM but what would have made this SOTD would have been a FatBoy instead of the SLIM ;) but mate it still looks awesome
