It's complimentary. You can use most natural oils (some are quicker at absorption than others) during different points of the shave.
Plenty of blokes here use different oils but don't always mention it. Check out this earlier thread here on P&C with more information. @razorguy from Italy was handed down the technique of using Extra Virgin Olive Oil from his grandfather. So it's long been a traditional addition for many wet shavers, but it's a hidden gem that not many know about. Good work for highlighting it. (Note that any post here in the SOTD thread quickly disappears so it may be missed by some...)

OT:- @filobiblic when I was in UK for 2 and half weeks during the Masonic Lodges, I've been told by Masons back in the very old early days of wet shaving when they don't have any aftershave balm or lotion they've used olive oil or natural oil. When I took some notes about EVOO for wet shaving I went to the London Library on St James's Square in West of London and do some research, and it true they've used Olive Oil or Natural Oil back in the early 1300's and they've used sharp knifes with natural oil during they shave when they didn't have any shaving soaps in the old days and they still used oil again as a ASB.

When I came home from UK and I quickly search on EVOO here at P&C and that the topic 'After-shave: Natural Oils' I went to look and read through it, suddenly I said to myself what the hell I'm going to have a go using OEVOO as an ASB and after a while I was truly amaze for a moment I wouldn't believe until I try it.......It true no wonder I'm missing out so much on Masonic wet shaving history, I keep saying to myself over and over what's the point buying ASB when you can used OEVOO can anybody explain this I've been scratching my head all day.

RazoRock Plissoft
Soap: Tabula Rasa Cardamom
Razor: iKon DLC Slant
Blade: Voskhod (2)
After-shave splash: Alum, Thayers Cucumber, Trumpers Coral Skin Food

My best shave with Tabula Rasa. After following a lot of internet 'tips' for lathering this tricky 'cream' (palm lather whilst standing on one leg essentially) today I just loaded from the tub and face lathered as I normally would any other soap (it does call itself a soap).
Outstanding explosion of thick, slick lather. You can see the lather shots here.
Love the Tabula Rasa packaging. Anyone else fancy a Tabula Rasa Tattoo?

Feather Popular / Shark Super Chrome
Semogue 1305
Arko Adventure Shaving Cream
TN Dickinson's WH / Adidas Team Five AS Splash / L'Oreal Hydra Energetic ASB

A pleasant Sunday night shave using Arko Adventure Shaving cream. There's a few different scents to chose from and I reckon the cream performs really well. This particular scent is fresh and perhaps slightly herbal, but very subtle. The 1305 is getting there - I think, but she definitely is taking her time. Lather shot can be seen here

Happy Shaving Everyone !!

Mastro Livi Grifetto 60, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point

It was quite a long time I was not using my shaving soap and today it was the right time to shave with it again. A luxurious shave, I must add. A beautiful and performing straight razor like Mastro Livi Grifetto 60, a gorgoues silvertip badger brush, my pre-shave oil and shaving soap, a fresh and citrusy touch of Myrsol Agua de Limón and here I got my luxurious shave. Mastro Livi Grifetto proves to be, shave after shave, an incredible razor with a velvety touch on your skin. I absolutely love it and, I must add, I have three of them in my collection.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: RazorGuy Shaving Soap
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Silver Tip Badger, 26mm knot
  • Bowl: Bamboo Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Grifetto 60, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: Myrsol Agua de Limón

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (23)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: PannaCrema Vetiver
Aftershave: Myrsol - Antesol

Soap: PAA Cavendish
Brush: Semogue Owners Club 2 Band
Razor: Weber PH
Blade: Personna (1)
Post-shave: Barberry Coast Havana balm

After a shocking shave on #suetsaturday I swapped both the blade and the soap. Not sure if maybe I had a bad blade or the lather wasn't right, but my skin was on fire afterwards. I used DRH Windsor soap, and a Personna blade.

Anyway, today was fantastic. And that Havana balm with the Cavendish - it was heavenly.

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Standard
Blade: Permasharp Super
Brush: Vie Long Horse
Soap: Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet(sample from shavedash.com)
Post Shave: Nivea Balm and Old Spice AS
Two pass shave with a clean up. The Permasharp blade is not as good as the Personna med prep in this razor but I still got a great shave. The Penhaligons soap has a beautiful scent and performance is also very good. Really enjoying the Standard razor.

Finally open another product called the Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream when I've bought it from UK for 2 & half weeks during my Masonic Lodges, I've met a mason at the United Grand Lodge of England and his sister worked at the Taylor Of Old Bond Street in West of London and he get a very special Freemason shaving supply discount for me during my Masonic stay in London. Back home in Sydney I was told the Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream was very popular in UK, France, Canada, Australia & USA, the shaving cream feel okay but the scent of the Sandalwood was an overwhelming smell it's not very strong is very warm relaxing kinda smell of Sandalwood make you feel like you're safe at home not bad good shaving cream.

Some how the Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sandalwood shaving cream just doesn't feel right on my face lucky me I've still got the D.R. Harris Windsor when I bought it from UK thanks goodness, any way I let my brother try out the Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream and he really like it so he can keep it. @Anthony can you please shoot my brother why?, he been using my Shaver Heaven shaving soaps while I was away in UK and he's too lazy to get off his hairy bum to get online to buy some. Man! I'm gunna kill him soon if he doesn't use all the Summer Breeze, Vanilla Oak, Hazelnut Cappuccino, Forbidden Forest and Sweet Almond Milk.
