That's fantastic - well done and a beautiful first shave it is as well - great choices in your setup
Razor: Merkur 34c
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
Brush: Sterling synthetic 22mm
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Summer Breeze
Aftershave: Shaver Heaven - Summer Breeze Aftershave Balm
First ever wet shave!! I had no problem lathering up the Shaver Heaven soap which was a good start. I took things slow and concentrated on letting the razor do the work and end up with the closest shave I have ever had. I did struggle just under the jaw and some parts of the neck but hopefully with a bit of practise and improved technique it will get easier.
Even though the process took a lot longer than my usual shave it was very satisfying and I couldn't help but think of my Grandpa who used a safety razor back when he was alive. Unfortunately he died well before I even started shaving so his safety razor is long gone but it was still a nice way to reminisce and something that I had not expected.
The missus loved the smell of the Aftershave so that was a definite plus.
All in all I would have to say the first wet shave was a complete success especially as I didn't draw blood! It felt like that's the way shaving should be, an enjoyable experience rather than just another chore that needs to be done. I couldn't imagine going back to the Mach 3 again and I will definitely be looking at adding some new hardware and software to the mix.
Thanks to everyone for all the advice and warm welcome you've successfully created another addict!
Great picture @Lifes a Peach !!!
Brush: Simpson Wee Scot
Soap: Czech & Speake Oxford & Cambridge
Razor: Gillette NEW Short Comb
Blade: Feather
After: Dior Fahrenheit
Czech & Speake O & C is a magnificent lavender scented tallow based soap that is a top echelon favourite of mine. It used to be one of the most desired soaps but the explosion of cheap artisan products has pushed this English classic into the shadows.
The Short Comb can be a smidgen harsh but it's a close and silky smooth operator when paired with a Feather blade. For me they are a match made in heaven.
Would love to see a close up of that lather....maybe even in the lather section
Brush: Simpsons M7
Razor: Gillette Toggle
Blade: Vintage British Personna
Soap: Wickhams Sheridan
A/S: Alt Innsbruck
Another excellent shave with the Toggle (Thanks @borked).

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Muhle Shaving Cream - Sea Buckthorn
Aftershave: Penhaligon's Opus 1870 Balm
Cologne: Penhaligon's Opus 1870
When I purchased my first brush I got a sample of the Edwin Jagger (Muhle rebranded or vice versa) Sea Buckthorn cream. I also got from somewhere the Pen's Opus 1870. This became my 'go to' favourite combination when I wanted a 'special' shave.
Funny how times change. While I still like the scent of the Sea Buckthorn in an odd kind of way the performance is only average - certainly compared to some of the great soaps around. The scent of the Opus 1870 is still OK too, but probably a little 'sweet' for what I'm tending to like nowadays.
Maybe I've 'matured'? Maybe I've found better? Who knows ...
@Mark1966 I should've gone to the Penhaligon's at Regent St, Mayfair in West of London while I was in UK, sh#t and I didn't have time
You really were in 'stylish man central' where you were
I'll think of you as I stroll around there next week
...
Don't think of me too much otherwise you're wife will kill me
Nice setup - would love a honest comparison between this brush and your shavemac...
Brush: St James of London 24mm Silvertip Badger
Soap: Barrister & Mann Rhapsody
Razor: Kirby Beard
Blade: Polsilver
After-shave splash: Barrister & Mann Rhapsody
I love the scent of the Rhapsody. I've had the soap for a while now, but the aftershave was well worth the wait. Beautiful scent and face feel.
