Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (4)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Le Père Lucien Savon du Barber
Aftershave: Le Père Lucien

Getting into the European vibe ...

But what benefit does it do? I would have thought a pre-shave is about softening the beard and adding slickness to the lather, whereas GFT skin food is designed to moisturise and repair the skin after shaving.
I'm guessing it adds slickness to lather and to your skin. Don't forget it's basically water and glycerin.
Apparently they use it as a pre shave in the Trumper barber shop. Although that may be due to them having released a different post shave balm that they have to flog.

I didn't realize it was basically just water and glycerin. I feel ripped off. That stuff is expensive.

Don't, I have an expensive bottle too, and use it and enjoy it. Whilst it is mostly those ingredients, I'm sure there are others that do the good stuff.

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with a Windrose handle
Blade: Polsilver SI
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Mystic Water Teakwood and Cardamom
Post Shave: Razorock Limes balm, Musgo Real Orange Amber and Terre Hermes EDP
Three pass shave. The scent on this Mystic Water is very pleasant and it adds to the experience. Beautiful lather and excellent shave.

Pre: Face Wash
Brush: St James 24mm 'Super Badger'
Soap: Dr Jon's 'Classic Scent'
Razor: 6/8 Fridour Inox
Post: Dr Jon's 'Classic' Aftershave, Stray Whisker's AB sample

Pleasant shave this morning, finally getting better on the angles for the razor on all three passes. The soap is still a great performer, and the new brush is slowly getting broken in. Post shave was great with the classic aftershave and the Stray Whisker sample; it absorbs well with no oily residue and moisturised my face terrifically.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday gents (y)

'As a pre-shave for sensitive skin, massaging Trumper's skin food against the growth of the beard lifts and softens the bristles in preparation.'

I copied it right out of men's biz site. It's a pretty versatile product. The lime smells great too.

Pre: Occams Lime
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Arctic Mango Tallow
Brush: Duke2
Blade: Parker 510 6/8
Post: Shaver Heaven - WH & Arctic Mango Balm

Great shave today. After, what... four weeks now? (I'm losing track) of straight shaving I am getting the hang of WTG and the strange blade angles required to get it right with my beard growth direction. I am finally at the stage where irritation is very minimal and pretty much a non issue and BBS. I think that's pretty good going for a straights. I keep thinking "I'll use a DE today" but when push comes to shove... I grab a straight ever time!

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 46 reknotted in 'Pure'
Soap/Cream: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary "Settantesimo" Shave Soap

Figured a nice shave to finish before heading overseas for three weeks. Totally classy, BBS shave, very nice.

These guys will be my friends while away -

SOTDs will get rather boring and time will be limited so please just take them as read :)
