Vintage European Shave
Today's shave is dedicated to @Mark1966 the connoisseur of vintage shave gear and currently travelling across Europe.
Brush: Seifen Thiele Badger (Germany)
Soap: Yardley Shaving Soap (England)
Razor: Kirby Beard (France)
Blade: Polsilver
After-shave splash: Myrsol Antesol (Spain)
The Yardley took a lot more water than I expected and produced a fine lather. The German brush didn't show it's age with a top performance. The French Kirby Beard razor was stellar as usual; comfortable efficiency combined with beauty. Cheating a little with the modern-yet-so-retro-looking Myrsol from Spain ended another top shave. (I should have used a vintage blade but this Pol still had some use...)
Enjoy your travels across Europe @Mark1966 !
I have enjoyed the myrsol since luckily receiving it st the Melbourne meet. Leaves the face feeling very nice!Pre: GFT Lime
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary
Badger: Chubby 2
Razor: iKon B1 Slant
Blade: Feather
Post: Alum, Thayer WH and Aesop Moroccan Neroli
Great shave today, minor let down that the Feather had it's third use today, so it wasn't as sharp as the first and second use. Seems like 2 is the threshold for me.
Had to do another pass with the iKon to get a clean shave.
SV is easily my favourite soap now. Definitely my go to when I want a good shave. Paired with the Chubbeast, winning team.
Thinking of expanding my aftershave arsenal. Myrsol looks good!
@Mark1966 have fun in London! last time I was there, I was only 8. But I will always remember that roast duck restaurant in Chinatown!
You made me feel very sad for missing out on that meet. I was actually sleeping in that day.I have enjoyed the myrsol since luckily receiving it st the Melbourne meet. Leaves the face feeling very nice!
It was a great day! There will definitely be another. Might be in the second half of the year. For a relatively green wet shaver, it was great to meet others in the flesh to compare all aspects of wet shaving. I learned a lot, and enjoyed some great company at the same time, not to mention a beer or two and a good feed as well! Look forward to meeting you in the flesh at the next one![emoji106]You made me feel very sad for missing out on that meet. I was actually sleeping in that day.
Alright! After seeing @Psmith acquisition of almost all of the myrsols, I'm tempted to get it too!
First outing on the face with the new brush (did. Palm lather last night), and I get it. I get why people say badgers are the bomb. Can't wait to see what it's like after a few uses and breaks in.
I changed the handle over on the Rockwell to the Weber wave today, and wasn't as impressed. The balance just didn't seem right and gave myself a nick.
Soap performed incredibly! Love the slight cooling of the mint essential oil. Smell pre lather is like the cheap Mintie knock off (which I wasn't keen on), but lathered the Rosemary picked up and it became much more balanced.
Brush: shavemac 25mm 2 band
Soap: Stirling Rosemary Peppermint
Razor: 6S #5
Blade: permasharp (3)
Post: Myrsol Plastic
Definitely my go to when I want a good shave.
Sorry, I meant the Wolf Whisker brush. It's a Windrose handle. You can find them on eBay
Looks great @Korbz - really have a big smile on my face just thinking about this brush/soap combo - glad you enjoy the brush!
I hope you will soon discover, that you always want a good shave
Ah right. It's the bishop shapeSorry, I meant the Wolf Whisker brush.
Excellent. That's what I'm currently looking at in midnight orchid! Now to figure out the knot & loft!Ah right. It's the bishop shape
Yeah it a hell of a decision to make when it's your time.Excellent. That's what I'm currently looking at in midnight orchid! Now to figure out the knot & loft!
Brush: Simpsons M7
Razor: Rockwell 6S - Plate 3
Blade: Rapira
Soap: Imperial Leather Stick
A/S: Imperial Leather
Great shave today. Gobs of lather flying everywhere in the bathroom, sadly most of the scent on this stick has disappeared, but the splash more than made up for it. The Rockwell worked well although I think I'll try it with plate 2 tomorrow, just a touch too aggressive today.

So tonight's shave was spectacular! DFS after 2 passes, and BBS after 3 with a small touch up!
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Simpson Duke D2 'Pure'
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary sample (Thanks Melbourne meet)
After: Alum, Myrsol Formula "C"
Incredible shave, hardly any sting from the Alum. The best shave I have had since starting wet shaving!
The Voskhod feels great. Being rather inexperienced, I don't know what to compare them to. They are seeming to fibre me as comfortable a shave as the Astra's I had been using. I'm filling up my shopping cart through TSW with the Voskhods and the SV 70th anniversary. Just gotta get the final approval from the financier. [emoji106]@Normie - that is just great! You really are getting this wet shaving under control in record time, and really enjoying it which is sooo important. Seems that having a play with some different products is helping things too. If nothing else, it keeps it all interesting Are you still enjoying the Voskhod blades? I found them to be a great and versatile option - they worked well in any of my razors.
