Brush - Shavemac Custom (25x50mm fan 2-band)
Soap - Stirling frozen tundra
Blade - Permasharp (4)
Razor - Rockwell 6S #5
Post Shave - Thayers & Myrsol Blue

I think the frozen tundra has a tad more menthol than the MITA. Just a little bit colder, and even now half hour later, face is still cool. Lovin' this!

Last day of the #5 head on the Rockwell and it wouldn't be my daily driver. It certainly has more blade feel than the lesser ones by a decent and reasonable amount, but would give me too close a shave daily. That being said, still getting awesome shaves from it.

@Korbz - Shavemac 2-band + Stirling soap = pretty close to perfection! Is your Shavemac a custom build or one of the "off the shelf" offerings? I have a couple of Shavemacs and they are the business for sure. The 2-band brush took quite a bit of breaking in, and I wasn't sure I liked it.

Thanks @Draco Noir ! I'm a massive fan of Stirling products, the soaps are just brilliant, and the balm (which I haven't used before) really agreed with my face. I went the custom option for the Shavemac, April 2016 Acquisition Thread and trusted Bernd's advice on the loft. I told him what I've used and what I found I liked and he did his magic. I can feel the individual hairs on the brush, but certainly soft tips and absolutely zero scritch. Can't wait for it to break in and see how it feels then...

Saturday Smoothy.....

A brilliant lather courtesy of the Thater and Tim's Signature. Today was the inaugural shave with this Jerry Starke razor. It's an intriguing and unusual razor on account of its rather rare "bellied" or "double hollow" grind :

poBtsQz-viq0VNUYqJJD7hO-YuouN_zrXv4nhKSWMIMnyN0pZ4OxNd8I5a0b2ZjmcwVH1U2xkb7YFxypxbILkrvTonV-UGGBn0kG6xWjIpITAdlGMCSyPS_fi5BXdUfjWnUODOw9A5V5YUeGglxNlfAb6XXNBsTknXdEsEcCl2JOMhTf1gYM1WMO_OP-y8xrPH8WZlvFSqKSB5SSzRp64C9-__PwoBAu7rc967qK_bNBK4fBPlXAct37qSmBcZpqM8cDqzE8g2cU0On1-yNBKPn02l_2QtfIS6wOWhD-2PzHaS1on3PP1INCwh5R0nvwg3_vbu0ZqPl9qyzSuZpxwmgKlVNjrTXhbVjPjpDb97dTkHTof2KQVpn23cRPY0mxBCxIxHFVwSS2asUtWAHDbIQ-ctVAC2sI9gwydF7XkvSTcfCeEBDdze4Q4yd04kKs-vJYHcvYE8aKmg0gNjWcKvTmZgmK5OsrYfiP553ooL8MISgeurb89oxG8UX-Ym7C_plHRwWtpOIW4E0ma8una24b9HQVSZZpPDpaeaw9AzNdpDNW8u657rPAsDNVUrZd7CJK=w620-h322-no

I spent quite a while trying to find out about this grind, and managed to establish that it was patented by G W Korn on 18th Feb, 1902. Apparently it's supposed to provide the best of both a conventional full hollow grind and a wedge. Whatever, it treated me to an astonishingly good shave - the smoothest, softest couple of passes a straight has given me yet. While the 52100 steel the razor is made from contributes part of that softness and smoothness, it isn't the whole story. That seems to leave only the unusual grind as the reason for the razor's exceptional performance. I may need to set up some comparisons to test the hypothesis.....

Finished an unexpectedly brilliant shave with a trio of the usual culprits. I have a feeling today's going to be a good one :)(y):)

Shaver Heaven Aladdin
Edwin Jagger badger
face lather
Dovo Stainless 5/8 with Stainless Steel scales

Great lathering soap which retains moisture and slickness throughout each pass. After a week of 1-2 hours sleep per night I've been feeling blah each day so have been using a DE since last Friday. 2 good nights sleep and I felt my concentration levels were ample today to drag a straight from the stand. Great shave, close smooth and one nick though lack of attention. Great to be back on the horse.

SOTN:
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Voskhod (3)
Brush: The body shop synth
Soap: D.R. Harris Windsor shave stick
After: Alum, Cade balm sample

Quick shave tonight, out with the wife for a belated birthday present. Staying away from home, so brought along the synth. Performed a 2 pass shave tonight (XTG, ATG). Not as pleasant as last night's, but a fine end result. Ready to enjoy dinner out with Mrs Normie. [emoji2]

Brush: Simpsons M7
Razor: Rockwell 6s - Plate 1
Blade: Treet Carbon
Soap: Semogue Lavender
A/S: Lavanda + 444

My best shave so far with the Rockwell. The Semogue soap lathers up easily although the scent is almost non existent, it really is a great soap otherwise. Very slick and cushioning with an excellent post shave feel. Topped off with the always great Lavanda and 444 combo for a very pleasant and easy shave.

SOTN (15/4/16 - London)

Razor:
Gillette Sensor Excel
Blade: Gillette Sensor Excel Cart (5)
Brush: Muhle Travel Synthetic
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Arlington Shave Stick
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

Remembering why carts were a pain. This one is showing its age now. No problems - same life as modern DE blade BUT MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE!

Showered and shaved after coming home from Les Miserables in West End!!!!!! [OK, so I fell asleep a few times but the family loved it]

Early start today to hop on Eurostar getting off at Lille then regional train to Arras. Daughter got a bad cold so resting up here before WWI Tour tomorrow.

I had a very pleasant 2.5 pass shave with my 6/8" "bellied ground" Invicta. As @Draco Noir indicated this blade design provides a wonderful shaving experience. My blade is not as pronounced as the Hart.

@bald as - you have a double ground razor too! Glad to see you are getting the same shaving brilliance from the grind. How about a photo or 2 of the razor? Would be fascinated to see it...

Vitos Preshave
Brad Sear Shaveworks S7 26mm finest
PAA Ray Rum
Stealth Slant on ikon handle
Sputnik (2)
Dandy Gent Bay Rum

That bay rum burns like something else, something in it doesn't like me.

The slant was better with a heavy handle but I still prefer my ikon.

Nice lather from the PAA soap as well and a nice scent. More sweet toffee than bay rum to me.

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Polsilver SI
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Speick (shavedash,com sample)
Post Shave: Nivea Balm and Floid Vigoroso
Three pass shave. The Speick lathered up a treat and has a very pleasant scent. Good cushion and glide and an irritation free BBS is the result. Really enjoy the Sunday shaves. Plenty of time to enjoy the experience.

Brush - Shavemac Custom (25x50mm fan 2-band)
Soap - Stirling MITA
Blade - Permasharp (1)
Razor - Rockwell 6S #1
Post Shave - Thayers & Stirling MITA balm

So the first of 4 shaves on setting 1 with the Rockwell, and to be honest, I had pre-judged that this may be too mild. There is a big difference between settings #2 and #1, however even though there isn't anywhere near as much audible feedback, it still produced a DFS in 3 passes (no cleanup). I could quite comfortably use this daily for work and not worry about irritation.

SOTD (17/4/16 - Arras, France)

Razor:
Gillette Sensor Excel
Blade: Gillette Sensor Excel Cart (6)
Brush: Muhle Travel Synthetic
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Arlington Shave Stick
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

Really easy to use cut and paste to do my SOTD at present.

Definitely the last use of this cart, how did we drag them out for a fortnight or more?

WWI Battlefields today guys - wonder what shaving gear I will spot ...

Pre: Shower/Face wash
Soap: Saponifico Varesino ' Tundra Artica
Brush: St James 24mm 'Super Badger'
Blade: 6/8 Fridour Inox
Post: Homemade Aftershave Tonic and Stray Whisker's AB (sample)

A nice shave this evening, the new brush is breaking in well; thought I would try the Saponifico- (great soap, still need a bit more water to add to my lather though). 3 passes with the Fridour Inox, which still holding its sharp as hell edge. Then to finish up my homemade AT and sample of AB from The Stray Whisker.

What a great day. Brewed an all grain English mild this afternoon and honed 3 razors while everything mashed and boiled. Finished it off with a top close to 3 pass shave with the 1958 Tanifuji that was honed this afternoon.

Scuttle lather.
Tanifuji razor
Omega brush and home brewed soap.

Definitely a good day.

Mastro Livi K600 "Hand Forged" Rasoio Italiano, 15/16 Full Hollow, French Point

Yet another Italian shave. Everything of today's shave was made in Italy and - you guess it - most of the items used for shaving were Mastro Livi's. Including this superb hand forged straight razor matched to the silvertip badger, having the same handle materials and colors. Not to mention the shaving bowl with lid made of olive wood and handmade by Mastro Livi. As for the rest, it was just "my usual stuff", that is my pre-shave oil and Bay Rum aftershave, something I do as a hobby and leisure. A super smooth and close shave, this K600 razor always gives a very smooth and comfortable shave. Top notch!

Another stunning shave tonight. DR Harris soaps are stellar performers.

P.S. after much contemplation, bit the bullet and ordered two bottles of Myrsols from Gifts and Care.
