I could get used to this goodness ...

Razor:GD 100 (my first attempt at honing a razor)
Soap: proraso white
Brush:whipped dog silver tip
Aftershave: natio facial moisturiser
Pomade:tip top

So this is my first try honing and yes I got a shave, not the closest in the world but it was comfortable and I think it really would have been better with a better soap... I don't think I'll buy proraso again.. It just doesn't do anything for me.

Brush: Simpsons Persian Jar
Soap: Dr Jon's, Savannah Sunrise
Razor: Australian, Best British
Blade: Australian, Gillette
Post: Dr Jon's, Savannah Sunrise

Tried out this 'Best British' (made in Australia) today, I will post something elsewhere about it later.
A surprisingly good, tentative, two passes, given that alignment looked a bit dodgy. A nice weight for a small razor.

The brush was great (again). First use of the Dr Jon's. A fair lather but not as good as yesterdays APR. I may have added too much water so the cushion was not as good as I would have liked, this may also be a result of it being a vegan soap. The scent in the soap seemed a little 'chemical?' but in the splash was much improved. (I'm no scent or soap expert!).
An enjoyable, interesting Sunday shave.

Have a great day and enjoy your shave

Razor: Progress standard set at 3.5
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Soap: Mitchell's Woolfat
Brush: Maggard synth
Post: Anherb Aftershave Conditioner

So, I have come to the conclusion that no matter which brush or soap I use, I'm going to get a result that doesn't vary too wildly. If I use MWF, I'll get the best post-shave but apart from that, the actual shave itself doesn't vary much whether I use a $30 puck of S/Varesino or an $8 Haslinger.

What I've actually realised that, for me, the razor an blade make the biggest difference in the shave. I have been using Polsilver SI blades solely for over a year now and they are the best combination of sharpness and smoothness. I have 7,000 in my stash and don't think I'll ever change to another blade as I've pretty much tried them all.

I had a tuck of GSB laying around so loaded one up in the Progress. Whilst the shave was very smooth, the blade itself felt only a bit sharper than an Astra-SP, which is to say, not very sharp. I ended up with a nice shave but I had to work for it. Extra buffing, and even found myself applying pressure in tough areas.

At the same time, if I load up a Polsilver into a milder razor, I go through the same extra effort as above. I feel that once a razor has been chosen and suitable (e.g. even with a dull blade, I can't go beyond 4 on the Progress as my skin can't take that much exposure) then the next step is to find the best blade. I can pop a Polsilver into the Progress or Rockwell 6S and I know I'll get a smooth, close, comfortable shave. As an added bonus, the Polsivers last me longer than any other blade.

So whilst this might, by default, seem minimalist...I just don't see the point of having extra hardware that gives me a mixed bag of results. I'd much rather stick with a couple of razors (although I do have 3 Progress razors) that suit me and my Polsilvers.

I have a similar experience (although I find soap performance a factor). Over time the periferal stuff drops off and you are left with what you enjoy and what works.

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: Rockwell 6S Plate 5 on loan from @nsavage
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Maseto 2-band Finest
Lather: Stirling Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Very leisurely Sunday shave. The Stirling soap provides for me one of the best lathers out there (picture here) and today was no difference. I could take all the time needed to enjoy the #5 plate. The shave was still smooth and the result close - but I had 2 weepers and a slight irritation in my neck area. So as I already assumed, the #4 plate is the right one for me. Now it is time to try the razor with a different handle, as the lack of balance is the biggest shortcoming of this system IMO.

I hope you all have an enjoyable Sunday (y)(y)(y)

Razor: Gillette Slim Twist U4 (birth razor, first use)
Blade: Personna Med Prep (1)
Soap: Soap Commander Vision sample from @Cris
Brush: TF Ash and Gold Synthetic
Post: Fine Fresh Vetiver AS & Pino Sylvestre EdT

Thoughts...
- For everyone who's lost a mother - this one was for you. Don't have any of my mother's birth year razors (would like a 44!) but I do have mine so I decided to break out my almost mint Gillette Slim Twist for a first use. She liked Pino so that came out. And she LOVED mint, eucalyptus and menthol products so they made up most of the action.
- The English made Slim Twist is WAAAAAY too mild for my sensibilities but I have ended up with a 4 pass DFS. As always - it's the neck I can't get smooth with less than efficient razors. It was nice to use this PaulH fav at least once, though. My skin probably liked the break from daily Colonial General action for the past week.
- The Soap Commander is a good soap. Easily lathered in my new matcha bowl and good cushion. Would have liked a touch more glide and residual slickness. Not an issue with this razor as I wasn't even close to getting a weeper but tomorrow's General might be interesting. The soap does rinse easily from the TF synthetic brush post shave... which is now always a sign to me that the soap is not as top notch as I like. If I have to go back to the sink after drying on a towel then chances are the soap is a real winner.
- The Fine AS is a very light vetiver with a better than average dose of menthol cooling. Post-feel is good but not at the level of APR etc. I imagine @todras purchased this to compare to his products and then quietly nodded to himself, "still got it". If you're looking for this type of profile - cooling vetiver - then Reef Point Test Depth is a few levels up from this for basically the same price. If you want a darker vetiver then APR Pork Chop is still king for $6 more than the Fine costs if Dan makes it again :)
- The Pino lost its lid thing because I don't think the company could have found a cheaper and nastier bottle assembly if they tried. The juice is still great though. Will walk around today thinking of Mum.
- Oh, and yes, I did use toothpaste to brighten up the copper on my stand for those of you who've been hinting you want more bling. I have some proper polish coming for my vintage razors so I might make it fully bright.

Preshave: Hot water splash

Soap: B&M "Cologne Russe"
Post shave: Hot water splash, Cold Water Splash, Witchhazel
Aftershave/Edp: None

First shave using the P&C Traveling Box and I must say I was pleased with the shave.
Cologne Russe performed very well as expected from B&M and the scent was to my liking. The Muhle performed well but I will reserve my final judgement overall on the Muhle until I have had a few shaves under the belt so to speak.
Enjoy the rest of your night guys.
Cheers Tony

Mastro Livi RWL34, 9/8 Full Hollow, French Point, Black African Ebony

After having shaved for about two weeks with the prototype of Mastro Livi Club Razor 2017 - and, of course, after having returned to the legitimate owner, that is Mastro Livi - this Sunday I opted for this RWL34 razor. First of all, differences between the two razors: while the Club Razor 2017 gives a very close shave with a velvety touch, the RWL34 blade too provides a very close shave however with a more aggressive feeling. They certainly are two superb shavers, two different ways of experiencing shaving, however both giving impeccable and magnificent results. Today was also the occasion to use one of my favorite aftershave brands - Floïd - in this case the Spanish Mentolado Suave. Although I like the "Vigoroso" better, this one certainly is a very good lotion. Mastro Livi Best Badger shave brush had no problem at all in mounting a super rich and creamy lather from my homemade shaving soap. Not to mention how happy I am for the quality and performance of my "kitchen experiments" in making soaps.

Hey @alfredus ,
That lather shot from today truly is amazing!

Just a word of warning about swapping handles. ;)

I'm not sure if you're aware, but I believe that Rockwell use an imperial thread as opposed to the metric used on most razors. They are close, but slightly different unfortunately. My Edwin Jagger handle doesn't fit properly on my Rockwell for example.

Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Soap: Proraso Green
Razor: Rockwell 6S (R3)
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Lotion: Omega Alum Stick / Mennen Skin Bracer / Nivea Post Shave Balm / Pinaud Clubman Talc

A smooth and easy Saturday shave with the Rockwell's R3 plate. My tub of Proraso Green looks as though it will last for at least six months and lathers very well with the synthetic Omega brush.

No picture from me today I'm sorry.
Razor: eclipse red ring
Blade: new Gillette nacet
Brush: whipped dog silver tip
Soap: MWF

Today feels as though it's the start of a stressful period, my wife is having a hard time at work and Im not particularly engaged with my work currently, onwards and upwards however.

Razor: Vintage British Aristocrat #15
Blade: Vintage Australian Gillette Super Stainless [aka "Aussie Spoiler"] (7)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Squadron Soap 'Group Captain's Blend'
Aftershave Splash: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' splash
Aftershave Balm: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' balm

Decided I will persist with the same set up through this month if I can after somebody commented earlier on about my consistency with the Spitfire from Squadron Soap. I suspect, if I'm honest, that I may finish the 'Group Captain's Blend' off too before the month is out, not sure what I would do then. My son snafu-ed the Dutch Resistance and the Sweetheart was divided up into samples - so I will have none of @SchoolForAnts soaps on hand I suspect

I will, of course have to rectify this as soon as those new container get rolled out across the range - the challenge will be deciding which one to buy!

Hey @Ferret619 - sorry to hear that this is a crappy time for you and your wife. I hope that calmer waters are not too far away for you both. (y)
