The Shaver Strikes Back - The Budget Italian Shave
20170115_142919.jpg

Razor: Gillette Slim - 4 for goatie area, 8 for rest of face
Blade: Shark Super Stainless (2)
Pre-Shave Cream: Proraso Red (goatie area only)
Shave Cream: Proraso Red
Brush: Semogue 830
Balm: Nivea Skin Revitalizer 2 in 1 (goatie area only)
After Shave: Malizia Uomo Vetyver
Shower Gel: Malizia Uomo Vetyver
Cologne: Malizia Uomo Vetyver
Roll-on Deodorant: Malizia Uomo Vetyver

Thoughts:
- Okay, I think I've worked out my new shaving routine sans goatie. Gone right back to my first daily razor the Slim and I actually used the adjustablity like I should have. DOH! And that's the trick. My chin and lip do not want anything too aggressive and the 4 setting is absolutely fine. So my new favorite razors like the New and the Prismatic get a bit of a holiday while I train this sensitive area up. Weepers, burn and nicks all gone... and its probably DFS with a BBS everywhere else.
- Proraso Red Cream. I chose it mostly because of the very Italian slant of this shave but what can I say that hasn't been said? Your oily slickness is exactly what my chin needed. Such a brilliant product for the price. Green would have worked better scent wise with everything else but that's gone to my kids!
- Malizia products were fun but the aftershave which hooked me in the first place is still the clear stand-out. All smelt vaguely the same. I'll know soon today if the deodorant works as it's hot today. The shower gel is the most disappointing with the weakest scent and a very runny texture. While the whole Malizia range is budget, the shower gel screams this loudest. The cologne is great but the spray mechanism is rather dinky and probably won't outlast the 50ml contents. I'll comment later on its longevity etc.
- Shark Super Stainless blades... I love 'em. I have serious flirtations with Perma-Sharp and Gillette Greens but these sweet Sharks know me best. They work with my skin and they do right by me every time I break them out. I could have sang Gentle on my Mind to them today.

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: Razor Master Toivo
Razor: ATT Kronos open comb M2
Blade: Vintage Polsilver (3)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion

Three day growth as a bit of dermatitis had flared up in the jowl area. Thought about changing razor and even blade, but upon reflection, this was illogical, as both were performing very well.
Went to my most skin-friendly soap, and dropped the alcohol products. Bingo - an irritation free 3 pass DFS+, with no issues at all in the problem area.
Don't get me wrong; I love the zing of an alcohol splash, but at times I need to lay off if my skin is playing up.

Mastro Livi RWL34, 8/8 Full Hollow, Snake Point

Whenever I shave with a RWL34 stainless steel straight razor made by Mastro Livi, I have always the same impression: I like this steel and I absolutely like the way Mastro Livi works this steel and turn it into the shaving paradise. This razor has everything I look for in a blade: superb shaving performance with a super smooth and close shave as well as the right balance between aggressiveness and smoothness. I also love the Mastro Livi eco-silvertip shave brush I used today, in my opinion one of the very best synthetic lofts around, a great performer in lathering and caressing the skin. Today I was in the mood for a special fragrance so I used the 4711 Original Eau de Cologne Aftershave - I love the 4711 fragrance - and, besides the lovely scent, it is also a good aftershave.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Mystic Water Marrakesh
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Perugia Eco-Silvertip, Stabilized Popal, 24mm Knot
  • Bowl: Old Barber Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi RWL34, 8/8 Full Hollow, Snake Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: 4711 Original Eau de Cologne Aftershave

Nice brush. Cadman C4 handle is my favorite handle shape - also my favorite brush.

Cheers Batch300 (y) It's a great brush all-round in my opinion, great size and shape and his workmanship is spot-on; it was also great value for money compared to the competition. That Silvertip knot whips up a storm in a bowl but lacks a bit of backbone for face lathering in my opinion........... but that just gives you an excuse to go buy his HMW knot in another handle, underrated knot and great face latherer.

Razor: Wilkinson Sword 'Sticky'
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (2)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus Shaving Soap
Post-shave: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus Aftershave Splash

Happy Monday guys ...

Stirling Executive Man Soap
Stirling Executive Man Balm
Stirling Executive Man Splash

Feeling the executive vibe today, and I am not particularly sure why. There is something about the fragrance oil approximation of Creed's Aventus that still keeps me coming back. The usual Stirling lather, simple, invariable and same same. A nice couple of passes, a cold wash off then on with the 'goods' ala EM.

Have a great day people :)

Now that's a very interesting stand you have there, Greenpike. Good usage of copper pipes *thumbs up.

I love copper and marble. It was a vintage store buy over here in Perth. I think it originally came from an artisan manufacturer in Qld, according to the lady who ran the shop. She also sold me a blue Lady Gillette that my daughter uses.

With the passionate discussion going on in that other thread, I thought I'd break out the Fat! I managed to learn something myself this morning and I was able to get a nicer lather off the puck than usual which was great. A very pleasant shave with a DFS result, nicely contented fella over here...
