Menthol day today in Brisbane. Rockwell not shifting from the line up anytime soon.
Nice one @Korbz .
The Rockwell's gets such positive reviews from their owners. I'm wondering- if you take whatever plate is closest in efficiency to say a DE89 or 34c and compare the 2, is the Rockwell really noticeably smoother?

Barristers Reserve - Cool

Another top shave. Enjoying the Menthol in the splash. Lovely face feel and great scent, which is of course the whole point of the "Reserve" range.

It's pretty warm here in Brisbane. Not as hot as back home. Temps are forecast in excess of 40deg. Now you southerners may think "so what? We get that all the time" but try doing it with our humidity. 97% today!

I think I'll need some more meth I'm my life.
Nice one, @Sxot - I am also really enjoying the Barrister's Reserve Cool. It has just about the right amount of menthol for me, and is great for the warmer weather.

@Benjamin
In my experience, de89, 34c don't compare to the smoothness and efficiency of Rockwell on even the #1 plate!

The shave for me is closer on plate #1 compared to the abovementioned razors.

Hey @Benjamin, I did a review on the 6S a while back after using each plate for 4 days. What I found for myself (noting that others have found different), was that the blade feel of setting 2 was similar to the 34c/DE89, however it produced a slightly more efficient shave. Very, very smooth shave and I use #2 as my daily driver.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I did read your excellent reviews. Maybe there is a Rockwell in my future....

After what seems forever patiently waiting for it to pop up on a BST somewhere, i finally got my mitts on some B&M Fougere Aromatique.
It certainly lived up to its reputation and delivered a great shave. (y)
Bought a tub of Tiki Fougere along with it, and have to admit i think it smells even better than the B&M, can't wait to see how that one performs.

Razor/Blade: Gillette #66 Aristocrat w/ 7 O'clock sharp (3)
Soap: Barrister & Mann Fougere aromatique
Brush: Cadman C4 silvertip.
Postshave: Thayers Original, Myrsol Emulsion/rockface mix, Myrsol Balsamic, Penhaligons English Fern EdT

Razor: Wilkinson Sword 'Sticky'
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (1)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson reknotted in 'Pure'
Soap/Cream: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus Shaving Soap
Post-shave: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus Aftershave Splash

Kicking myself for not keeping the Light Brigade and trying it (16 shaves in) in the Sticky. No use crying over spilt milk though I'm told.

I WILL see the end of this soap too - trouble is, of course, I still have a 3/4 full splash ...

Now, to the razor and the shave. I like the Sticky. It is rather unique and I've always enjoyed shaving with it. After a couple of weeks with the Darwin though it is very different.

If you can imagine being ravished by half a dozen vestal virgins and think of that as shaving with the Darwin, the Sticky is more like the hugs you got a a kid from your grandmother. Enveloping, slightly funky smelling, certainly loving but in a very different kinda way (thankfully I must add!).

The Sticky is a mild but efficient razor. A quick two and a half passes and I was done. Adjusting back from the Darwin took about a stroke if that - the Sticky is a very easy to use razor.

Happy shaving folks
