Well that was the last go for me. Will be putting the Timeless up on BST over the next couple days. It just doesn't agree with my neck. Thinking I'll give the Blackbird a go next maybe,

Fair enough, I run with the .68 blade gap (cant remember what yours is) and you can pry my Timeless out of my cold dead hands, from the weighting to the balance to the handle length it's excellent for my situation although as your experience has shown, it's a case of YKMV with most things in shaving.

I must tell you man, I have almost bought a Blackbird a couple of times but all the friends I know in the US who own them currently and who have owned them previously say they are really bloody aggressive, a shame as I wanted a long handled older style in polished chrome for the collection. /shrug sometimes it's like that :)

68 as well mate. It really must be DSDF because everything I read is positive about it, and say it's as smooth as butter. For me though, I just get left red raw. Tempted by Kon's sabre as well, reading they're quite mild. Meh, will have to take a punt.

Brush: - RazoRock Plissoft Big Bruce Synthetic 26/63mm
Lather: - Palmolive Classic Shave Stick (european version grated into a plastic tub)
Razor: - Parker Variant Adjustable in Satin Chrome (WTG #5, XTG #5, ATG #2)
Blade: - Astra Superior Platinum #2
Post: - Thayers Witch Hazel 'Unscented' / Bulldog Original Aftershave Balm

Today is my last shave as I'll be going tomorrow early morning to the airport heading for UK again for 2 months in west of London which is going to be Summer over there, I've decided to take the Parker Variant Adjustable as my travel razor along with 6 packets of Astra Superior Platinum. I've decided to take the Palmolive Classic shaving soap the european version grated into a plastic tub, because is very cheap and easy to buy Palmolive Classic shaving stick anywhere in UK in the supermarket or chemist store for under £0.50 which is very good IF I need more shaving soap.

Yesterday I'm glad I've received my Internatioanl express package from US just in time the new RazoRock Plissoft Big Bruce synthetic brush which has splayed very nicely not too floppy and not too springy for a 26/63mm knot, this synthetic brush feels almost just right and the lather build up very nicely not too messy going all over the bathroom sink which is great and enough for 5 pass shave.

Any way chow and take care enjoy your winter season in OZ, also keep warm and have a great shave.
I to am in England (Guildford) for the next 3 weeks then to poland where in England are you

Safe travels @SpeedyPC ... pick up some Euro shave gear while you're over there!

Go the Blackbird, they look fantastic. Wished I hadn't looked at those!

I found the 68 in the Timeless to be disappointing but what a difference the 95 plate made. Really turned things around and was never an issue with being over agressive. As a comparison I would say the Blackbird is very similar in aggression to the Timeless 95

If you do get a long handled Blackbird, I'd be very interested in hearing how you find it. I may grab one if I see one in a BST as my curiosity is still there, if it's too much I can easily flip it as they are fairly popular.

@Ross I'll be staying in Mayfair in west of London and I won't be staying in a Hotel because it's too expensive, I'm staying with a very close friend of mine I've known from the Grand Lodge of England that way I can save a lot more money.

Sorry @Snooze I won't be picking any shaving gear near west of London where all the most popular places like Dr Harris, Geo. F. Trumper, Penhaligon's and the Taylor of Old Bond Street, because I'll be busy with all my Masonic Lodges across England, Scotland and Ireland ;)

SOTD 8/7/2017 #6 (w/straight)
Preshave: Wahl Shave Oil
Razor: BBR Shavette
Blade: Derby (1)
Brush: Simpsons Classic 1
Soap: Proraso Red
AS: Proraso Red
Absolutely awesome, seen some other shavette types for some great prices so I want to practice my shavette technique with one pass shaves, also using different blades each shave to try and hone what works for me. After just watching some shavers like Jeffrey Smith and the stallion, my technique is getting much smoother. Can't wait to be efficient and effective with them. More to come

Yesterday, I went with MWF and I waaaaay over loaded! I couldn't add enough water and the shave was very uncomfortable. I had used the progress with wizamet polAg.

Today, back to the Rockwell on #3...there's really no better shaver for me! The perfect combo of comfort and closeness/efficiency renders awesome BBS with zero burn/nicks.

Used SV Dolomitti and this is actually a mind blowing soap! I love everything about it and after so many years of a set top 3, this soap is now tied with MWF at #1.

Brush: Simpsons PJ2
Soap: APR, Suitably Attired Australian
Razor: Ever Ready, Streamline
Blade: Gem SS
Post: APR, SAA, splash/balm

Back to the fantastic Streamline this morning. After yesterdays Contour this really is the highs and lows of SE razors. Two passes and close as.
Loving the SAA, as usual, I really need to get some more APR. I've been dithering over which one to get next for so long that by the time I decide there will probably be more spring scents to consider.

One for you @the_shaving_sailor Christmas in July?

Pre: Tallow, olive oil, lavender balm
Soap: Nettle n Neem
Brush: Shavemac
Razor: Friodur Henckels Wedge (hollowed)
Post: Jojoba w/essential oils

This was the test run for the Nettle n Neem shaving soap I cooked yesterday. Initially I loaded too much soap. I knocked on the door of the soap monster to see if he'd come out and play. There was plenty of lather at first but a little too bubbly and the lather was retaining some of the colour of the soap. Was still fine for 1st pass. See yesterday's post (Nettle n Neem - soap thread), in the first test lather the lather changed colour to white straight away. Maybe due to different brush and the soap had not long come out of the freezer.
A bit more time in the scuttle and it developed into big thick and creamy, turned whiter and started to peak. Had to add water a couple of times but I was really happy how it shaved. Somebody could give me a hand with assessing soap characteristics.
Scent was interesting but not immediately endearing. Essential oils added were Lavender and Cedarwood. The Neem dominates and the overall feel is woody, garden....it had me digging up memories of the wood house at Nanna's with wet earthy wood chips and stinging nettles. There's occasional wafts of lavender to freshen things up but it's way in the background.
Yesterday I was worried the puck may be too hard but today I was thinking it may be on the soft side, but it's still a thick paste consistency. I use the scuttle for lathering so I don't want the soap so hard I can't scoop some out. I only used KOH for this batch.
I'm thinking this soap will benefit from time in the tub but would happily pull it out tomorrow to use again.
The scent of this soap will not encourage it's use as an everydayer but it's great for an occasional visit.
