Pre: Warm Coconut Oil
Soap: Pb Pimento Silk
Brush: Zenith Boar
Razor: Friodur Henckels hollowed wedge.
Post: Jojoba/essential oil mix
Similar shave to yesterday. I was like 'Oh no' with a bowl full of bubbly lather, then get it on the face and its suddenly thick and creamy. Had to add water for third pass. So I think I need to play around with lathering method for this soap. I think I started with too much soap in the scuttle to start with. Happy with scent though it's on the subtle side. Would consider notching it up with subsequent batch.
Love hate relationship with this blade. No finesse just mow it down but there's a steadiness that's nice. Not sure how I managed the nick on the ear lobe. Nearly looks like a failed piercing attempt.

pre: hot shower + warm water before lathering. I felt a bit tempted to use a bit of the super-awful pre-post Alt-Innsbruck I got as a sample. But being Saturday, no need to impose myself a bad time.
shavette: The blubeards revenge
blade: Astra green
soap: LA toja stick
brush: Frank shaving mix
facelathering = TRUE
after-balm: The straw Whisker
after-splash: Floid suave

Another successful shave. I shaved the first pass with the shavette, but against the grain only for the rigth part of the face, as my technique with left hand is still awful.
A really small cut of less than a mm made me change to the merkur 42c with an astra blue on its fourth use to finish the left part against the grain

Progress long handle
PolAg (3)
RR Bruce synth
SV Manna di Sicilia
Alum
Nivea sensitive splash

Lovely shave today. The SV soap is so concentrated and efficient that i loaded the brush for 10 seconds, got just a little bit of proto lather and then i had to add so much water to get it where i like! I think next time, I'll load even less cos i washed out a huge, thick glob of lather from the brush.

SV scents are mind-blowing and i thoroughly enjoyed the shave.

Brush: Simpsons, PJ2
Soap: B&M, Seville
Razor: Kampfe Star No.1
Blade: Gem SS (shimmed)
Post: APR, Jasmine and white tea

Second go with the Star this morning this time with a full Gem spine shim. Still a very aggressive shave. I tried adjusting the angle and found that to get any protection from the comb it needs to be held close to 90 degrees to the skin, the shim helps but this means the blade is scraping rather than cutting (hence the burn), if you hold it as you would a 1912 really you end up just bouncing the blade off your face! (hence plenty of nicks). The picture (top right) shows how close to the front of the comb the blade is held compared to a 1912. So not a great shave but an interesting experiment, and no, they didn't get it right fist time. Perhaps the wedge would work better but it is hard to imagine it would be a great improvement.

Great soap and aftershave though and fun to be experimenting with a bit of shaving history.

Have a great Sunday

Soap/Cream: Barrister & Mann Cologne Russe shaving soap
Aftershave Splash: Barrister & Mann Cologne Russe splash

Man, @Sticky! I'm not too crazy about the position of that blade on the Star! If you want a slightly smoother shave you could try using an electric butcher's rotary blade smallgoods meat slicer! Gorgeous looking razor, though!

Ha ha, yes indeed, not too clever. I have to wonder if it is supposed to be like that, though it all looks straight and right. I suppose I could bend the stops in to push it back but I wouldn't do that. Best left as a great looking ornament

Razor: flat bottom aristocrat jr
Blade: nacet (new)
Soap: ad Astra
Brush: silver tip
Post: bay rum (I made a mix awhile back of my favourite commercial items/had to many half used bottles around)

I feel as though although the shave was great I'm going to forever smell of sausages as I cooked a BBQ this morning :) true story

Razor: Gillette Toggle (2)
Blade(s): Polsilver (2)
Brush: TF Lava Demon 26mm
Soap/Cream: Squadron Soaps "Ad Astra"
Post: Dickinsons

Careful does it on 2 and two nicks. Counted myself lucky. Nice easy mid morning shave with a lovely scent and plenty of lathery goodness from the "Ad Astra"

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: Mühle Rocca
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Maseto 2-band Finest
Lather: Mike's Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil

Lovely cold and rainy Sunday here - perfect for not leaving the house and enjoying a long shave. The razor gave a very close result, but I think it is just a tad to aggressive for my personal preferences. The Maseto brush whipped up a heavenly Mike's lather - still the benchmark soap in my den

I hope you all have an enjoyable Sunday (y)

Soap: B&M Rhapsody
Razors: Gillette TTO Super Speeds
Blade: Nacet (1) shared
Post: cold water splash, Pat dry
A/S: Nivea 2phase
Balm: sorbolene

Fun experiment. Pitching vintage razors against themselves as over time they can get bent out of shape and suffer plate loss. Not bad shave but they echo @Marzocco points that some vintage razors don't compare to the tolerances of today's offerings.

Come on, fair go now guys. If we are talking 1940s Super Speeds they are 70 odd years old. When you get to that age you tell me if you are not a little bent out of shape and suffering plate loss!
