Shower
Fatip Grande with Lord Racer blade (4)
Col Conk Lime soap
Omega 48
Re-lather, warm rinse, Nivea Sensitive ASB

I get why this soap isn't popular. Without adequate water it will be pasty and suck moisture out of your face. Too much water and it gets thin and watery (albeit slick). It's a fine line but I got the water content right today and was rewarded by a nice 3 pass BBS with no damage. Using the puck as a shave stick helps in not loading so much product that it just becomes impossible to get enough water into it - a problem I have had previously.

Oh, and did I mention just how much I love this brush? The higher loft over my 49 (+5mm) and Proraso (+10mm) brushes just takes it to another level, adding softness and allowing the extra movement of the bristles to lather up extra quickly and hold on to the right amount of soap for 3 passes. In badgers, I get more density but it holds on to too much soap, a tendency that can only be fixed by reducing the loft, which makes it more difficult to lather. I need a larger synth to make a proper comparison... I have definitely concluded that I like big brushes - so much faster and easier!

1st December, but knowing the Stray Whisker it may in fact drop in the week prior....Soap/Splash/EDP :)

Love the Terre d'Hermes type scents :)

Tomorrow is my sons' primary school fathers day breakfast ....I hate shaving at 5:30 am .... breakfast .. starts at 7am ...... so hope fully time for a nice shave before I head out the door ...... saturday will be sleep in and try out my new rockwell 6S and tabac shave soap when I decide to get out of bed.

on a lighter note .... I have been using the Astra shave stick and its great in regards to lather ..... tried to get the bowl version with no luck in Melbourne so ordered off Ebay .... 4 bowls for $40, be interesting if it's as good as the stick ....... probably should just stick with the stick, it works a treat, but it just doesn't feel as stylish as soap from a bowl.

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Tony Forsyth Playpus P&C LE 2017 Manchurian Silvertip
Soap: APR Bay City
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: Vintage Gillette Super Silver (4)
Post: Osma Aftershave balm
Splash: Penhaligon's Bayolea

First use of APR Bay City. Wow! Sensational performance, and what a scent. A bold departure from Bay Rum; much fresher and complex than the typical scent profile. @todras - you've done it again!
Three passes and I'm BBS without a single weeper. Finished with the equally bold Bayolea splash - wonderful!

Razor: old artist club ss
Blade: artist club
Soap: B&M sandlewood
Brush: high mountain badger

The artist club never cease to amaze, a beautiful and close shave that is totally nick and irritation free.

I've never tried the astra soap but personally I prefer a bowl, I had several Arko bowls that all got used in short order but the one Arko stick I ever bought is sitting in the pantry with a ton of dust on it from when it feel down the gap between the basin and the shower.

I am glad you are one of the people who really dig's it @TomG and your observations about the freshness and complexity are spot on - I deliberately designed it to be unlike any other Bay Rum design on the market because I try and actively avoid sameness in my fragrance design. Strangely enough, the response in Australia to Bay City was tepid while the response to it in the US from Maggards was just phenomenal.

Interesting. I skipped over Bay City quickly because I generally avoid Bay Rums in general. Perhaps I was too hasty.

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Doug Korn D7V
Lather: Mike's Lemongrass & Eucalyptus
Post-Shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil

Not a perfect shave today, but a very comforting one. I managed to nick myself twice, yet the end result was a very close shave and a very happy face.

Mike's still does one of the best soaps out there - the the lather is simply divine, the scent addictive, yet clean and the post-shave feel perfect - I can't ask for much more.

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday (y)

I really, really avoid them too (B&M Bay Rum being the exception) so my calling it 'Bay City' or even having Bay in the name probably worked against me in regards to the Australian audience when it was a play on Sydney being a harbour city. I don't blame people really, the number of Bay Rums I have smelled which are just outright bloody drastic with excessive cloves and bay oil are to many to count.

On the other side of the coin though, the Americans absolutely love the Bay City, it has far outsold all the other fragrances as they go into August which will be interesting as it's almost a spring fragrance, while there is Bay present, it's in accord with the other basenotes and the fragrance is light, sweet and fruity.

Was hoping to use the Lixiviant bundle im getting for fathers day, but once again Aus Post made sure that wouldn't be happening. Its going to be a long weekend waiting for monday to come around. But my puck of American Blend arrived from Maggard's so that was a pretty good consolation prize.
