Australia Private Reserve - Monsta Myrtle Aftershave

A nice innings for a Saturday morning, took the WPF scented with MM out on the park and it was quite pleasant with the 'earthy tones' of the WPF working quite well with the Monsta Myrtle. We are heading for another humid day in Sydney so I will be glad of the citrus notes. A decent lather from the EPF, the usual two passes and then a nice cold drenching and on with the balm and aftershave.

Have a bloody good Saturday you blokes :)

Attention everyone, European 'A' list Über shaver is back in the building. Good to see you return to form with a very nice Badger! (y)

Welcome back too :)
Thank you my friend - such a nice brush waiting certainly made it easier to come back home (y)

Pre: Shower
Soap: MWF
Brush: Simpson Butterscotch
Razor: Micromatic Clog Pruf
Blade: GEM (~8)
Post: Barristers Reserve - Classic

I think I'm finally getting a handle on this razor. I think it's due to the head weight, which is heavy, leading to too much pressure. Today at times I was actually going for negative pressure. Results was brilliant and resulted in a tiny bit of sensitivity but no irritation. BBS -

The Awfully Hot Day Shave
20170128_084543.jpg

Razor: PAA Prismatic
Blade: Shark SS (3)
Soap: TOBS Peppermint Shaving Cream
Brush: K Shave Worx Gamechanger
Aftershave: Proraso Green
Cologne: Mont Blanc Individuel (light)

Thoughts
- Today Perth has been rather oppressive with the heat and - despite having a whole bunch of new things to play with - I needed a minty shave so turned to this combo I know very well. It was a beautiful shave.
- I'm a huge fan of TOBS Peppermint and today is probably the hottest day I've shaved with it (I'm still only 5 months into my wetshaving journey); it was perfect in terms of performance and coolness. Its not a Snake Bite etc but its plenty cold enough.
- Proraso Green is a great AS and it clearly was going to play very well with the soap scent... and it did... as Proraso ALWAYS does. Just excellent stuff and the fact that I picked it up from Catch Of The Day for $10 just makes even better. The Mont Blanc was an interesting choice as I was tempted to go Pino Silvestre and the pine. But I wanted to try a sweet freshness that would linger longer than eucalyptus, peppermint and menthol.
- The Prismatic had a great shave. Such a good mid to aggressive razor. Get one if you like to feel blade but not blood.

Preshave: Hot water splash
Razor/Blade: Rockwell 6S set on 3 & Perma Sharp (3rd Shave)
Brush: TF Custom Silvertip
Soap: B&W Shiver Me Timbers
Post shave: Hot water splash, then Alum Block then onto a Cold Water Splash, TSW Balm.
Aftershave: Shiver Me Timbers

A cooler more enjoyable shave tonight. Soap performed very well and I will certainly be coming back for more of this combo. Post shave feel was very nice indeed

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: Semogue 1800 Boar
Soap: DR Harris Arlington
Razor: ATT Kronos open comb M2
Blade: Vintage Personna 74 (12)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Splash: DR Harris Arlington

My first real shaving soap was DR Harris Arlington, and it still appeals. You need to work the puck a little, with resulting dense white lather with good glide and excellent slickness. And of course the classic English fern scent.
Three passes for a DFS+ and a lovely post shave feel.

That is a very beautiful brush, I may look for one of those in Manchurian. I love the design of the handle!

PantaRei offer a massive bang for your buck, and Alesandro is a pleasure to deal with (y). I'd get rid of both my Simpson and my Brad Sears Manchurians before the PantaRei, and it costs ⅓ of the price if not less. I'm sure you'll love it.

Sunday is indeed the day of rest, the day of leisurely shaves at ones own pace before the compulsion to check FB rears it's head. Not much more I can say about Manuel's soaps and the scent of GEA, the execution is perfect. I was thinking of the hours and hours I spent on le courrier this morning now that it has matured, and yes, I think it was a very worthwhile addition to the Aftershave lineup. Real Bliss this morning :)

Have a capital day fellas, enjoy what you do :)

Razor: Wilkinson Sword 'Sticky'
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (7)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson reknotted in 'pure'
Soap/Cream: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary "Settantesimo" Shave Soap
Aftershave: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary "Settantesimo" Aftershave

The Saponificio Varesino never fails to deliver!

Pre: Proraso Green Pre/Post
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap/Cream: D.R. Harris Windsor
Razor: iKon X3
Blade: Permasharp (2)
Post-shave: Alum, Emu Oil, Pinaud Clubman

Haven't shaved since Thursday, the X3 really is efficient. Mowed through the stubble with ease.
Love the scent of the Windsor soap, and the performance is quite good for a stick.
Nice shave for a Sunday morning, with a nice result at the end.
Enjoy your Sunday people!

Shavemac Custom 26mm 3 band D01
Tanifuji 6/8 Full Hollow
APR - Choix Alfredus
Safari

After a stint on British steel, I am once again surprised at forgetting how comfortable a Tanifuji is whilst being highly efficient. Didn't need an XTG, pass #3 but what the heck, I didn't want it to end. Easily had enough lather for a fourth but there is no need to get carried away.

Razor: Edwin Jagger Kelvin
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (3)
Brush: Semogue SOC Boar
Soap: OSP Fougere
Post: Witch Hazel, TSW Balm

Nice simple shave today. :) I'm thinking of running this combo for the February Flagellation.

Now, off for some Lunar New Year feasting!

What's your take on the Reserve Classic, I found it very pleasant myself in regards to fragrance but a little short lived ?

The skin care properties of it were excellent though, on it's own it's almost the perfect post shave skin food in my book.

I thought it might, I pulled the trigger on a Soap and aftershave set just this last Friday from TSW :)

It isn't a very potent scent as is the case across the Reserve range. It is very light, no sting, feels great on the face etc. On some days I still find it drying though but I suffer badly in that regard. Scent is indeed pleasant and is a soothing formula. It is no panacea though but then no AS is. As I like to apply splash second a (lighter) time before I leave the house for the day, I find the scent does endure very well when I do this. I do not use any other products post or pre shave. Just soap and splash so yes, I feel no need to supplement its skin care qualities but I would say the same for other A/S including B&M Tonique although it has a much stronger scent and the usual alcohol sting which I actually quite enjoy. I have Cool too and rate it equally. If it were one or the other, I'd take Tonique over Reserve.
