Hope you enjoyed the rum, Maxie?

They had my favorite rum on the shelf, what are the odds? Mount Gay Extra Old. There was also Brugal 1888 which is a respectable contender. Now, it will upset our whisky drinkers to know that I voluntarily poured in the grass a glass of Johnny Walker Black label. Sorry guys, I just can't stand the taste, I came back to the bar and asked for Crown Royal (Canadian Whisky)... 3 times :)

Excellent outing with a smooth Arkansas edge last night on a 6/8" piece of carbon steel.
I tried but the call of the BOAR lured me back to the sty for a measurably better lather than a 24 mm Silver tip badger I have used for the past 2 shaves. I may persist one day with a badger but really shaves are far too valuable for low quality lather. The badger gives more lather in the brush but the BOAR provides better lather on the face "for me". I do concede it would be nice for the BOAR to hold more lather like the badger but in reality it isn't a problem as my straight shaves are mostly single pass. I am set in my ways though as I have used a BOAR for almost 50 years apart from a couple of aberrations in the late 70's early '80's when I used foam and grew a beard. Doesn't bare thinking about :)
Soap was a Coconut clone
End result a great DFS.

Fatip Grande Nickel
Lord Racer blade (9)
Razorock P.160
Omega 48
Re-lather and cold rinse

A fantastic 3 pass BBS (WTG/ATG/ATG). I believe I have my DE blade progression worked out now in order of increasing aggression for best results. Two shaves on Rockwell plate 2, next two on plate 4, next two on plate 6, remaining shaves on Fatip Grande OC. Today's shave was very efficient and the blade no longer bites so I could whip around with abandon...

@bald as I have to say I have no problem with this boar not holding enough for 3 passes and an extra lather at the end! But like all boars it still leaves that lather on the face where I want it, rather than in the brush. It's my favourite brush... the high loft really helps works up a lather without requiring any pressure.

Razor: Vintage Gillette 'Fatboy' Adjustable (5)
Blade: Vintage Gillette Super Stainless 'Aussie Spoiler' (6)
Brush: P&C (Tony Forsyth) LE 2017 24mm bulb Playplus shaving brush
Soap/Cream: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre shaving soap
Aftershave: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre splash

Rolled into bed around 12:30 this morning after a long day so I needed a great start to the day, this combination delivered.

Onwards and upwards fellas!

Ever considered trying a synthetic brush @bald as ?

Re-lather, rinse, Witch Hazel

Almost exactly the same shave as yesterday but a completely different experience. A BBS result but this time my skin is feeling raw and irritated an hour afterwards. I'm not sure the Witch Hazel really did anything. I'm going to put it down to trying to get one too many shaves out of this blade...

I hear ya @bald as . I've been trying with a (generously gifted) badger brush as well, but I just cannot achieve the same quality of lather as with a boar.

Then I look at @alfredus lather shots, all with a badger brush..... o_O

A lovely shave on an overcast and brooding morning.

"smooth, sexual, pornographic, animalic" - hmmm, not so much really. Am I doing something wrong @UKSteve ?

I hope that the weather stays OK in Brisbane, would not want anything happening up there interrupted by rain would be :)
Your description of the local weather was most accurate, as was your wish for fine conditions in more northern climes.... ;).

@Bozley82 - how do you find the Wickham Russian Leather Scent? I've got Club Cola, which is really interesting, but I like leather scents, hence the question.

Gillette, Semogue, I Coloniali, Soap Commander.

Been a while since I’ve posted. Was rocking a winter beard. But summer is here and so I’ve been shaving again.

I’ll need to catch up on all the goss.

Cool... Welcome back mate!

Great to see you on the forum again!!
