Really dialed in the T&S this morning, it is better than I initially reported but not in the exceptional category, any tub under 125 grams has to be extremely good for me to keep it in rotation and this is not one of those, it's a nice mid point with a fantastic scent. The Chatillon L&L collaborations are worlds ahead, that Bison tallow is something else.

A nice too passes, my third shave with the Derby and time for a new blade. I am used to the performance and efficiency of Feathers but the Derby has earned it's place in the lineup as for the price it's very good value. The usual two passes then the rinse off and on with the goods, the scent from the Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli is fantastic, a tart citrus that is accented with a suggestion of Rose, fantastic.

Shave well you blokes, enjoy the bloody day :)

No photo, as my shower/shave was enforced by an unplanned drenching in ethylene glycol as I was sorting out my Son's overheated car engine.

If @bald as was there he would have busted out one of his vintage, collectable straights and shaved with it on the spot!

Razor: Vintage Gillette Flare Tip Rocket
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (1/2)
Brush: Muhle Travel Brush
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Arlington Shave Stick
Post-shave: Stirling Soap Co - Ozark Mountain Balm

Well this is as good as it gets for me over the next couple of weeks.

Happy shaving guys!

Any port in a storm eh Mark ;)

Good choice on the Arlington!

Pre: Proraso Green Pre/Post
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap/Cream: MWF
Razor: Rockwell 6S (4,2,2)
Blade: Feather (1)
Post-shave: Alum, Emu Oil, Myrsol Formula "C"

Same shave for the rest of the month! Let's see how good I can get with "The Fat"!?

Pre: Nil
Brush: Paladin - Lotus Ebony
Soap: Stirling - MITA
Razor: GEM Micromatic CP - CC
Blade: GEM (0)
Post: Alum, Stirling Splash - MITA

I was feeling adventurous today after confirming that the blade gap on the MMCP-CC is not that big! Maybe it's the hybrid safety bar (castellated) or maybe the GEM blades are just super sharp. Not sure but I am not going to give up easily. So, in went a new blade and on with the shave. Lather was sub par, so that didn't help but the result was pretty good. No irritation, effortless BBS but a few weepers on the sides of the mouth/upper lip so hit them with the Alum. Whatever the cause, this thing, on my face, with a modern GEM is super super efficient! I think it will be my go to when I need a two pass BBS fast. The 1912 is still the pick for easy of use, no strain, no effort disposable shaving. Still waiting on my G-bars to arrive. These have a bigger blade gap so this will be interesting. Also thinking about trying the bullet tip micromatic as it has a full solid safety bar.

You give that Rockwell 6s quite the workout @Korbz. Not surprising really it is a great razor.
Was talking to @Tony Forsyth yesterday about maybe grabbing a timeless this year. Hard to justify the cost as I can't imagine it shaving any better for me than the rockwell. The model T should be arriving soonish though, and might grab a parker variant when they hit Aus.

Shower
Feather AC DX non folding with Pro blade (8?)
Margaret River Olive Oil Soap Citrus Blend - then MWF...
Proraso Brush
Re-lather and cold rinse

So I tried to get the olive oil soap to lather and had exactly the same problem as I had yesterday with the Windsor - no matter how much product I used or how much water, the lather would just die on my face after a very short time. This one is even worse in fact. There is some slickness there when wet but there is no lather so I can't really shave with it. I started the first pass and gave up - rinsed it all off and started again. Having spent a long time trying to get this soap working I needed a reliable, good solution - so I reached for the Fat...

Had a great two pass WTG DFS. Then it hit me that the problem with both the Windsor and this soap is they behave just like a body soap would do - lather goes on reasonably thick but just collapses when it's left. So this one should also make a nice body soap if I can get the puck out of the tin as the scent is decent.

Preshave: Hot water splash
Razor/Blade: Rockwell S6 (3) Voskhod (1st Shave)
Brush: TF Custom 24mm Synthetic
Soap: Dr Jon's Hydra
Post shave: Hot water splash, then Alum Block then onto a Cold Water Splash, TSW Balm.
Aftershave: Dr Jon's Hydra Aftershave

Tonight's shave is thanks to @todras absolutely loved the soap and aftershave mate, just what I was looking for :D very refreshing during and after the shave and still smelling all the fruity scents. Earlier today I made myself another brush using one of our synthetics. Boy did it whip up a lather !! flow through was great too with the knot set at 52mm lots of lather applied very easily, so really looking forward to trying it out over a few more shaves. I will post a lather shot shortly (y)
All in all another very enjoyable shave.
Tony

Stache Shave Works Returns... for three days in a row SOTD!
20170131_060638.jpg

Razor: PAA Prismatic
Blade: Wilkinson Made in England New Stainless (3, 4, 5)
Shave Soap & Bath Soap: Stache Soap Works Mr Fitch
Aftershave: Pork Chop
Brush: K Shave Worx Gamechanger

Thoughts
- Erica from Stache Shave Works found out about my experience with her Scottish Glen After Shave Balm from @Cris's video review of the PIF. Remember the "Satan's Urine" burning bit because some of the ingredients had separated during shipping? Anyway, despite the fact I didn't ask for anything, she very kindly sent me a complimentary Mr Fitch shaving soap and bath soap! I thought the very least I could do was give them a damn good go for a few days and write up 3 SOTD at once.
- Mr Fitch is the most moisturizing shaving soap I have used so far. Clearly Erica was concerned about my sensitive skin with her choice and she gave me pure skin food. This shaving soap is quick to voluminously lather, has excellent cushion and, most importantly, has enough residual slickness to probably shave the day after. Wow. This is a luxurious product with amazing face feel. The scent is the same as the Wilkinson Sadness. Have you ever owned Wilkinson Sadness? It is a lovely scented, cheap, rock-hard "shaving" soap in a blue plastic puck that is too small and this damnable soap makes no useful lather to speak of at all. I threw mine out but I really did like its scent. Think a light buttery/powdery lemon and if Erica was trying to mimic this she got it spot on. So Mr Fitch scent is pleasing and does not interfere with any aftershave or cologne choice afterwards.
- Mr Fitch bath soap smells exactly the same and is just as moisturizing. Lovely!
- It is very hard not fall in love with @todras and his magic hands when one applies Pork Chop. There is no splash. THIS is an application. The decadently deep notes of vetiver transport you to the inside of a man drawn litter as you're carried through a humid ferny-pine plantation during the late Victorian age. Your name is Edward and you wear a pith helmet and check your fob for the time. You are a man amongst men and left with a great face feel.
- After three days of Mr Fitch and Pork Chop... so much moisture is in my skin I found some zits on my chin! Hahahaha.
- The Wilkinson blade was just starting to go on its 5th shave. I am so impressed by these NOS treats!

On The Road Again

A new month, a new trip. This time I brought with me this Mastro Livi Double Damascus San Mai razor which I added to my collection almost four years ago. It shaves like the first day: a good run on the loom strop, followed by hand palm stropping and the razor was ready to deliver the best shave. In this shave I also used the shaving products I make at home as a hobby: my pre-shave oil, almond oil shaving soap and bay rum. When I travel I always take with me my shaving products and I like using them all in the same shave as this makes me feel, like to say, at home.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: RazorGuy Crema da Barba all'Olio di Mandorla
  • Brush: Omega Bristle 83
  • Bowl: Chinese Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Double Damascus San Mai, 15/16 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: RazorGuy Bay Rum
