Shower
Feather AC DX with Pro blade (15ish)
Lea Shave Stick
Platypus brush
Re-lather and cold rinse

My first try with a badger brush and what a brush! This is very well made with a very comfortable handle and a pearlescent finish you could go swimming in! Gave it a few lathers last night to get rid of the worst of the smell and now it goes great - although I do need to get used to driving one of these - it took me awhile to dial in the required level of moisture etc. I also need to use more product compared to a boar or synthetic but it is a very luxurious experience and there was a lot left in the knot at the end for my re-lather. Love the Lea stick but I can see why shave sticks aren't quite as popular when using badger brushes as it becomes tricky to load enough product - I had to re-apply between passes. Three passes for a DFS+ today but that's the last shave on this blade - ATG required a bit too much force...

I'm now contemplating a custom made synth from Tony to round out the collection. Just need to work out which is the best knot for me... so many choices!

Pre: Nil
Brush: The Joker (T's Turning handle, New Forest Knot)
Soap: Tabac
Razor: GEM Push Button
Blade: GEM (modern PTFE coated)
Post: Tabac Splash

I have now had a couple of goes with both "flat top heavy" GEM razors. This is the push button, and the "G Bar". They are both great razors, a little more aggressive than the 1912, but not as much as the Clog Pruf for me. I thought these had a smaller head than the 1912, but they don't. Almost identical in size. My lather was a little dry (read - thick) today and I found it clogging under the blade. Something that doesn't normally happen but never would on the 1912 with it's open comb and cavity just behind the blade edge.

So whilst I have got a handle on the Clog Pruf, its still a little too aggressive for my liking. I am now wondering if there is any difference in aggressiveness of the bullet tip TTO because its the head I prefer. That said, the "flat top heavy" handles are my favourite to date.

Tabac, you rule, despite your strangely extensive ingredients list (33 off!) which includes an EDTA...

So glad you like your Platypus :D In a few weeks time I will have a few other synthetics to choose from too.
I only have the one type at the moment but it is pretty awesome, that's the one I favor at the moment. Whips up an awesome lather in no time and also has a luxurious feel on the face with heaps of flow through . So if you are not in any rush wait and see the others when they arrive.
Or of course you could supply one of your choice and we fit the synth to a nice new handle :)
Cheers
Tony

Wow. Razor looks cool. I've never seen a Vintage Personna Micromatic before! Are they rare then? The white is plastic?

I'm no expert on those products, but wow! Welcome back. (y)

I didn't visit any B&M shops, I've been to the AoS store in Washington years ago and was underwhelmed, but did grab a little purchase while over there - February 2017 Acquisition Thread

My bad - it is actually a 'Micrometric' not 'Micromatic'. Yes, they are pretty uncommon. The white is plastic, see more information in this thread - The Personna Micrometric

There was one sold recently on eBay for $US1726, see here.

I'm no expert on those products, but wow! Welcome back. (y)

Thanks mate
