Pre: Pb Pre Shave Balm
Soap: Talbot - Iliahi Ridge
Brush: Vie Long Horse/Badger
Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (7,8)
Blade: Vintage Polsilver (1)
First use of Pre Shave balm. It was good. Was nice to apply and had slight cooling from the combo of essential oils, camphor, rosemary, lavandin etc and felt good on the face i.e. I normally use straight coconut oil so this was a lot lighter and more pleasant.
Rather than splash warm water I fill basin and face dunk or 'bob for apples'. Lather was beautiful and all round was a great shave.(y)
@borked , I assuming this Polsilver is a vintage brown and not the Wizamet? It was in the coffee coloured wrapper not the chocolate brown.

The pre shave sounds great!

I'm going to make a simple pre shave oil of grape seed, sweet almond, macadamia and lemon Myrtle EO. I prefer a lighter texture mix rather than a heavy feel on the face. I may add some jojoba to it too.

Pre: 3 drops jojoba oil
Progress XL w/Polsilver
EJ silvertip fibre V1 - 23mm in faux horn
CRSW Select - Puro Fresco
Anherb balm

Brand new Polsilver in the progress today resulted in a delightful BBS!!

The CRSW is awesome soap! The scent is so beautiful, delicate and calming.

Tried Jojoba oil as pre shave today and really liked it a lot. It didn't impact the lather at all and worked great!

If I could choose just one brush, this would be it!!
I'm a huge fan of the V1 silvertip fibre Muhle invented. It has very natural splay as the fibres are thicker but not so densely packed (finer fibres must be densely packed in order to serve the purpose).

This perfume oil is an incredible journey you don’t want to end. Masculine and powerful, delicate and subtle. Thor’s hammer and a loving caress. Stunning, absolutely stunning.

I can’t help but think that this is what Bond would wear whilst out doing Bond ‘stuff’.
Beatifully seductive enough for when you fancy blowing the legs off some Miss World type bit of skirt yet masculine enough that you don’t smell like a bit of a dandy when dispatching wannabe global domineering cat stroking villains.

SOTN 23/04/2018

Brush: Proraso (Omega)
Razor: RR Mamba
Blade: Rapira P/Lux (4)
Scuttle/Bowl/Mug: Shaving Factory mug
Soap: EJ Menthol puck
Post: Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil + Rockwell balm

A much improved near BBS shave with the Mamba. I believe I have found the right razor for this blade as it felt smoother, with slight resistance XTG but as the razor shaves mild I was able to buff certain areas with little effort. Got home late so jumped in the shower and shaved from my trusty mug and the lather was a bit wet but that just added to the comfort of the shave. Might skip a shave and try something different come ANZAC Day...? Happy shaves and have a pleasant Tuesday!

Brilliant shave today which was so smooth with the R4 plate.
The Dr Jon’s Classic soap (sample) feels a touch drying on my skin post shave but lathered up nicely and gave great protection. Not sure I’d buy this one but once finished I’ll try the Savannah Sunrise sample. That one smells great to my nose!

  1. Preshave: Shiner Gold
  2. Blade:Astra Superior Platinum
  3. Razor: Charcoal Goods, SS, Bishop, Level 1
  4. Soap: St James of London Lavender and Geranium cream
  5. Brush: Sam and Son, 30mm Silvertip
  6. Postshave: St James of London Lavender and Geranium gel
  7. Earworm: Five Years - David Bowie
Copious amounts of lather this morning as shown. Both kids managed to sleep through last night, so feeling much better today. Now the wife is sick though. Great shave all up, although, I'm not the biggest fan of the post shave gel.

How's the horse and what's the backbone like and can you please tell me what's the knot size and loft height, also do you find the horse better than the boar?

26mm Knot, 50mm loft. I've included the link at Gifts and Care for more info:
https://www.giftsandcare.com/en/hor...ot.html?search_query=epsilon+horse&results=22

I'm very pleased with this brush. It's a dense knot but I'd say quite soft. I was a little worried when I ordered it as others had said they found the horse hair scritchy but I think it's fine. I think the knot size and density give it plenty of backbone. Probably use more soap to lather due to density.
Can't really compare with the boar brushes, it's just different. Probably more similar to my 26mm TF Badger.
If I had to choose between the horse and boar brushes I'd go the boar brushes but again they're just different and I love the different characteristics between badger, badger/horse, boar, and horse. I've a got a badger/boar knot from maggards that I'll get around to at some stage, looking forward to that as well.

A badger/horse??? never seen or heard of a badger/horse knot, I've got this brush below put away and it's been so desperate to get back into the wet shaving. I was thinking about getting the Epsilon white horse into my den because I'm not 100% sure.
