Prep:
DR Harris Coconut shampoo bar, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: None
Soap: Cella
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: NOS Wilkinson Sword Super-sword (1)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Scent: DR Harris Arlington EdC

That sinking feeling when you are far from home on extended work assignment, set up for your first shave, and realise you forgot to pack your shaving brush into your wet pack. I can see it now, happily ensconced in its gray plastic travel cylinder, sitting on my kitchen table.
Well, one must make do. Thankfully, I had my trusty Myrsol Emulsion roll-on, which was applied copiously as a pre-shave. I had also packed Cella, a relatively soft soap. I bloomed it well, and lathered up by hand. By no means an impressive looking lather, but I did not stop until I could feel slickness and it had a wee bit of sheen. I plunged ahead, taking great care with my technique.
I’m happy to report that the NOS Wilkie and Merkur Futur glided nicely around my face. Did not push it beyond 2 passes, but I can honestly say that the closeness was DFS. A tiny patch of irritation on the neck, immediately rectified by the Myrsol Emulsion post-shave.
Whilst I’m not recommending it unless circumstances dictate, it is surprising how good a shave you can get with equipment limitations, provided most of your kit is good quality gear, and you concentrate.

Necessity is the mother of invention!

Well done mate. Now to make sure you keep a FULL wet kit ready to throw in your bag at all times

I presume for you this is somewhere remote and an extended trip? No chance of posting you a loaner so suppose?

Not sure where you are @TomG, but Chemist Warehouse has a shaving brush for ~10$. Probably a horrible one, but might be just what you need...

Thanks @Mark1966 for your offer, and also @alfredus for info on a potential cheapie brush. I am indeed at a remote location, so will have to make do. Trip length not too bad, so I will survive, and learn from the experience .

Pre-Shave: SebaMed, cold water
Razor: Guerrilla
Blade: Ladas (1)
Brush: Doug Korn D7V
Lather: Mystic Water Bergamot, Cedarwood & Juniper
Post-Shave: Alum, Thayers Original Alcohol Free Witch Hazel, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Very nice and close shave with the Guerrilla/Ladas combo today - Doug Korn turns for me some of the most beautiful handles and this one in particular just works wonders with Mystic Water as can be seen from this spectacular lather.

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday (y)

Brush: PAA The Green Ray
Razor: iKon SBS + WCS brass handle
Blade: Personna Blue (6)
Scuttle/Bowl/Mug: Fine Lathering bowl
Soap: APR Fenchurch
Post: Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil + APR Fenchurch splash

Shaving goodness!

  1. Preshave: Cyril R Salter, lavender
  2. Razor: Thiers Issard, 5/8, full hollow
  3. Soap: Cella
  4. Brush: Sam and Son 22mm silvertip
  5. Postshave: Blades Grim, smolder
  6. Earworm: Teardrop - Massive Attack
Reasonable shave today, not sure why, but the blade seemed to drag. Not sure I got the water to soap ratio for the Cella. However, no nicks again, so a success. Perhaps a touch up on some CromOx is needed.

With all the new stuff it was going to be hard to make a choice. The right choice was guaranteed, anyway, but was still hard xD

So I choose:

1) To have a shower
2) to keep the Weber/UFO combo with the Astra green
3) Go back to the yaqi synth, because I have read about issues lathering
4) B&M Reserve Fern
5) and splash a generous ammount of APR Velours Noir.

I should have use some General Ledger balm with it. They looks not so distant scents, with something on top that makes them different. Unfortunately I noticed it while lathering, so next time. Fougere family growed on my as Istop using the same soap and dig a bit on the shaving world.

Velours Noir is something higly mutagenic. Fist sniff pointed out towards something clearly made of citrus accord, not crispy summer citrus but sharp, but as I splashed I start to notice more woody-dark scents (also the menthol, I didn't expected it for a fall scent xD)

First try of B&M reserve lather :)

Pre: my lemon Myrtle pre shave oil
Rockwell R3 w/Polsilver
EJ silvertip fibre L v1
OSP Lavender
Anherb balm

Wonderfully creamy lather from the OSP!
A tingling around the lip area gave me a sinking feeling as this is really awesome soap :(

The brush is definitely one of my most prized wet shaving possessions!
I have the muhle v2 STF and it can't hold a candle to the v1.

I wish they didn't replace the v1 but I'm very happy I have the v1 in 21mm, 23mm and 25mm.
