Rockwell 6S R4 w/ PermaSharp
Yaqi Tuxedo
AP Reserve Ozymandias Soap / Balm / Splash

The PermaSharp is starting to get a little rough at about shave number 6. Thanks @todras for the balm! It worked great.

The F2 soap gave a nice slick and shinny lather.

The scent is another different one from APR. unlike anything I have experienced yet (in my 12 months of experience lol). I did not wear the EdP today so I cannot comment on that. The splash at first I got a strong cherry scent, at almost an hour later I'm still getting the cherry first but I'm starting to get a bit of a Woody note. The soap I found was the same scent but the woodiness came a bit more through with the cherry not being as strong.

It's a bit like the Velours Noir for me, I have trouble cutting through the top note, I'll have to go through the rest of the stuff I have and see if that runs true throughout. But by far I think Velours Noir and this Ozymandias is the most complex scents I have tried. Perhaps it's that reason alone. I think I'll stick with this soap for a few shaves in a row.

Nice work @todras and @nsavage

@Nico does your wife plan on producing more bowls, after testing?
Hi @pvsampson, Currently just experimenting on shapes, sizes and glazes. Once we (she) settle on the final design I am guessing what is not used will be passed on to fiends. :sneaky:

It may look more appropiate for more warm times, but still, is excellent. a great one :)

very nice single pass DFS
Japanese Tanifuji 6/8"
Really stepped out tonight - Proraso Red cream shave soap in a tube.
I probably didn't use enough but had enough for a good single pass. It did seem to dry out a bit quickly but it was a very nice shave.

Semogue 830 as the brush.
Finished with Macadamia nut oil infused with Lemon Myrtle.

Finished honing trial?

Hi @Pbgoose,
Final set of hones in my experiment : Reset the bevel on a 1 K then progress through soft and hard Arkansas, a 10k synthetic and then a significant number of finishing strokes on my Chinese natural.
To say the edge was textbook was an understatement. It was the poster child for pristine bevels, but looks aren't everything.
It was very sharp and yet didn't feel sharp. The skin was smooth after the first pass but the feedback was so not there. I normally use the Cnat with a progression of slurry stones and it is very similar to my Jnat in terms of feel and performance. I suppose it is possible to get an edge so smooth it lacks character. When I first started honing the appearance of this type of edge would have made me very happy and a less than stellar actual shave would have been attributed to poor blade technique. I have since early on learned that looks can be deceiving. :)

My first shave in this experiment which I didn't record was with my Jnat progression. I knew this would be an excellent finish so used it as a benchmark to guage the others.

This is all a very subjective preference order as the differences may not be apparent to another shaver with out knowledge of the stones used. My scoring means nothing really but looks better with a number !!
#1 Jnat Hard Shave score -9-
#2 Coticle Medium Shave score -8.5-
#3 Arkansas Coticule combo Medium, Very Hard Shave score -8-
#4 Arkansas - Very Hard, but with oil not slow. Shave score -8-
#5 Cnat. Medium Shave score -8-

I'm also not saying #1 is all that better than #5. Just different.
The Sheffield steel in the Bengall is fairly soft and may require a particular stone combo to bring out the best. Hard steel/Soft stone or something like that.
6/8" Bengall
Semogue Boar with my soap
Tonight the shave was good. The finished shave was a very solid 2 pass DFS+. A small amount of irritation but not a drop of blood or any DE type scraping.

If I had the time and patience I would do this with a few more blades. I don't :) I will however try to get an even better handle on the Coticule. The Jnat and the Coticule may be a worthwhile adventure.

Here is my summary. By the way I love your back yard :)

Brush: Vintage butterscotch Rooney boar/badger combination
Soap/Cream: Australian Private Reserve (APR) Mycroft shaving soap

No nicks on the face though!
