I used the Baili today for the 4th time,(I don't log every shave here), and binned the Nacet that was in it as last time it was dragging and felt harsh which was a bit odd as I have found the blades to be excellent.Huge difference using the Polsilver being very smooth and I could move quite quickly yet with the Gillette I needed slow and deliberate careful strokes right from the first shave with the razor, which was very good, and the Polsilver seems to suit the head better.Impressive performance from the cheap Baili for a great result.

I only have the EJ limes and pomegranate soap...how strong is the menthol on the EJ menthol soap?

If it's strong and you handled it ok, it may be some other component of that pre shave soap that caused issues.

An example, when I used B&M latha Oceana, it literally felt like I was shaving with acid instead of lather. I later found out the scent compound used to give the ocean smell was the culprit.
Pretty tame on the menthol, I noticed on the first and third shaves with this soap there was some dry puffs of lather floating in the air at times. I didn't notice any of that on the horrible shave or with any of the other soaps I've used.

Even I can handle subtle menthol so if the EJ soap is subtle then it may well be the heavy menthol.

LEA classic shaving soap has a very nice subtle menthol feel.

Think I'll try my fine L'orange next shave, that hand lathered well.

Ooooh yeah!!
I have a couple of those in my stash too, in addition to the puck in rotation and a DIY stick in my travel bag :D
And you were good enough to sell a couple of tallow pucks to me - love the stuff. (y)
For a real treat, I sometimes super-lather with both the soap and the Lea Cream. In addition to shedloads of beautiful lather, the cream adds a nice menthol kick. :D

Very nice!
I had read somewhere the cream has more menthol in it so that'd be a fairly cold super lather!

In terms of performance, the LEA classic tallow is just magnificent!!

Though they could have put a little more effort on the scent.

EJ STFv1 25mm
Muhle Sea Buckthorn soap

Surprisingly good shave with the Rockwell chrome on plate 5 and the slightly milder (than Polsilver) Indian permasharp blade.
