IMHO the $30 aluninum Hawk is one of the best bargains in the shaving world. It outshaves many of my stainless DEs costing more than five times as much. I also have two stainless steel Hawks, standard and OC. And yes, they are slightly more efficient than the aluminum version, at more than twice the price.

Please, don't start raising the subject of the Great Gatsby novel :vomit:
I didn't, but if that article isn't to your taste, try this: Here’s Why it All Changed: Pink Used to be a Boy’s Color & Blue For Girls
Here's a salient quote: "... in the late 19th century and early 20th century, it was common for mothers to be told that boys should be dressed in a masculine color like pink in order to grow into a more manly individual later in life, while girls should be dressed in a more feminine alternative like blue."

Is that the same as the V3 in SS? Appearance-wise it looks like it. I'm enjoying the V3 SS, a great razor, but I wouldn't have objected to it being as cheap as yours :)

Pre-shave:- Shower
Brush:- Frank Shaving - Boar
Soap:- RazoRock - Santal Royale
Razor:- Apollo Light - Aggressive Plate
Blade:- Vintage Gillette Super Stainless (2)
Aftershave:- RazoRock - Santal Royale

Razorock soaps cop a bit of criticism - not as much as the colonel conk but still a bad rap
Santal Royale is an exception this is one slick moisturising soap (y)(y)

The V3 SS (which I also have) is slightly more efficient than this one. I quess my point is that a $30 single edge AC razor can shave as well or better than a $200 double edge razor. :cautious:

Pre-shave: Hot water, Pears soap
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow Pony
Soap/Cream: Simpson's Lavender & Vetivert
Razor: Razorock Hawk V3
Blade: Feather Professional Super
Post-shave: Homebrew moisturiser, La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50+

This soap is an outlier in my den, the result of a lavender swap with another member here, and it's been waiting for these cooler months to come out of the drawer. Interestingly, I don't really get much scent of lavender off it at all, but pleasant nevertheless. I find Simpson's creams to have an almost total lack of cushion, which suits me fine, as it makes it easier to get the shave really close.

Shower
Merkur 42c / 1904
Personna lab blue (2)
P&C Platypus 26mm fan
Signature Soaps Cedarwood and Peppermint sampler
Imperial Leather A/S

Another soap remnant I found in my drawers. It really is quite good although I've had it too long and something has gone a bit awry with the scent - not a real problem, just a bit different to how I remember it.

Nearly finished the Imperial Leather. It's unremarkable... but thanks to @TomG again anyway - I just realised it is courtesy of his generosity that I have today's soap, A/S and blades to use! Quite the trifecta... and a lovely 3 pass BBS to show for it.
