Finally set the bevel on the Ribbon R.Saito now just need to refine the edge some more.
I swear someone applied an asymmetrical Kamisori type edge to it because it was shaving perfectly in the LH and crap in the RH.
May have been the intended factory default being honed for a RH barber and not personal use ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯

Nice razor, have not seen many Bengall's with thumb notch and this ornate in the shank, spine, jimps and tang.

Bewdy :love:
I also have never seen another one like it. My suspicions are that it is a custom made job.

The shank reverse is stamped;

T.R. CADMAN & SONS
SHEFFIELD ENG.

Not having ....& SONS LTD dates it to prior 1924. Having ....ENG. and not ....ENGLAND dates it to prior 1890. Having the face etched dates it to post 1870.

⅞ Titan ACRM-2 T.H.60 SR dressed in African black wood, finished and maintained on diamond pasted balsa.

The Titan ACRM-2 T.H.60 is the same SR used by my students when beginning in the gentlemanly art. With its more obtuse bevel angle (around 19°), it is a most forgiving razor to beginner mistakes while still providing a close comfortable shave.

Been hearing such good reviews about translucent Arkansas I just had to have one.
This one was cheap but rough with 3 x serious chips on either side.
Spent a good hour on the old 400/1000 diamond plate followed by a wet and dry progression up to 1200 and some burnishing.
Still needs a bit more work to get rid of the last remnant of a chip and burnish properly on the razor side.
Was determined to get a good edge on the Ribbon by R.Saito so I sat down with the missus watching TV with a towel, bowl of water and the Ark just doing multiple passes of 20 X strokes between conversations and another dab of water.
Was a pleasant way to sit in the TV room and enjoy the missus conversation without getting bored to tears with television, and achieved a bonus nice edge on the blade.
