(Above) I was pretty pleased when I managed to find this C.V. Heljestrand MK32 (6/8 full hollow) in seemingly very good condition and at a very reasonable price. I was even more chuffed when I opened the package to find that the razor is in pristine condition - much better than the price tag suggested. And then the bombshell hit - the razor is fitted with original ivory scales : just amazing!! The person who sold it obviously had no idea, because the scales should double the value of the razor instantly.

There is no doubt that Heljestrand made some of the finest razors ever, and many believe that the MK32 was their best razor ever. It certainly shaves like an absolute dream, and is already one of my most loved razors.

(Above) This NOS Filarmonica 14 Doble Temple (7/8 full hollow) turned up totally unexpectedly. It came in an EMS satchel from Japan which I'm pretty used to. Only thing is, I hadn't bought a razor from Japan for quite some time. When I opened the package, out popped the razor along with a card wishing me a Happy Christmas. Yes, my favourite Japanese razor dealer on Ebay had sent it to me as an incredibly generous Christmas gift!! Needless to say, I was temporarily speechless. And very relieved that I had sent him a Christmas gift before receiving the beauty above.

And what a beauty it is - absolutely flawless condition, and it delivers that legendary Filarmonica shave...

Magnificent!

That C.V. Heljestrand is almost enough for me to go straight. Of course I would manage to wreck it so that keeps me safely in the DE world!

Nothing short of spectacular. These look special.

Some Stirling soaps arrived today.

The Orange Chill and 2nd Stirling Blu are for a good friend, someone who's generosity and gracefulness I truly admire and through which I in turn have become a better person. I truly hope that they enjoy the soaps :).

Well done @nsavage, that'll help pump up the Karma bank account! Seriously though, it's a wonderful thing to show gratitude to those who have changed your life for the better...

Omega 49 arrived today. Have a quick bath. Felt fantastic when I palm lathered it and handle quite ergonomic [emoji106]

Well that says everything. When your "razor dealer" (who has one of those!?) sends you a $200+? razor as a Christmas present.... it might be time to take a good hard look at buying habbits? ;-)

@Draco Noir I would love to know your sources for your razors. Everything I see is rarely in the condition of the razors you buy. Maybe it's just a price point thing. There is this NOS Parker 567 for $300 I would love but have struggled to justify buying this past six months.

GEM TTO "Clog Pruf" and a couple of vintage blades (FOC too. Thanks @huntereyes_ ). As a mechanical designer, I find the mechanism very interesting. The retainer/cap pivots down onto the blade and then slides forward. This is appears to have been done to ensure the blade is seated properly in blade stops. The means of this action is hidden very well. There are no visible guide rails, levers or anything and I must resist the urge to disassemble it to revel it's secrets. The head is also sized at a minimum so the difficulty under the nose with a standard GEM should be alleviated. All in all, an excellent design!

I really shouldn't but I just have to take it for a test run. I'll be on the lookout for another "daily driver".

Did you get a splash too? I don't suppose you want one when you can formulate your own?

It's funny you should mention that, but the reason for the soap (aside from it being one of my grail soaps) is that I am working on a winter Fougère (The Generals Other Ledger) which is a autumn winter seasonal for APR- nothing like the bright 'numbers game' that is General Ledger...in a turn of further exclusivity, it will be a pair for the Fougère imperiale - in practice though TGOL will pair with TSM Fougère and almost all of the other Fougère soaps currently on the market that are not 'bright'. It's in the vein of Choice Alfredus, but much more seasonal and deeper without the citrus heart notes.

I'm waiting on some feedback from The General himself as to what scents or notes he likes, but suffice to say I'm not being deluged with PM's so I may have to go with my original idea of Agarwood (Oud), Helichrysum and a few other notes depending on what works and what simply does not.

So dirty green?

;)

I get the impression the General nose does not know's what it likes!
