Shave of the Day 2014

I haven't around here much lately. I've been building a sleepout in my garage to shift my teenage daughter into, and I mean I've been building, glad I'm not a tradie it's bloody hard on the body. We are getting there slowly the plasterboard is in and being top coated so painting next, now just to get the sparky and plumber back before Christmas.

As for shaving well the last few months have been Schick Super Stainless in the 38C with Simpsons Lavender and Vertiver. I made a half hearted decision to try and finish the Simposons as my first 'finished product', we'll see how I go with that as it could take quite some time.

looking forward to P74x74
I don't think it'll last that long. I've got a feeling it well be retired in a couple more (4 to get to 25?) shaves.
It still feels pretty good but has definitely started the downward trajectory in terms of sharpness and smoothness.
Then again, it's been 10 shaves since I cleaned the blade (something I've never had to do before) maybe another clean well give it more life?

Razor: Gillette Super Speed 'Red Tip' 1955
Blade: Perma-Sharp Super Stainless
Soap: Mon Savon Au Lait - Bol à Raser
Brush: Frank Shaving Silver Tip
Alum Block: Shavex
After Shave: Aqua Velva Original Sport

Soap: Occams Original
Brush: simpsons classic synth
Balm: QCS iced key lime

Squeezed out the brush to start, and used half a pea of occams. Bam. Lather.

This must be simpsons waterless brush system.

No trouble making the lather but towards the end of the pass it was starting to dry a bit (something that's never happened before) I added a few drops and it started to drip water straight away. Maybe it's better to dip the tips in water than drip in into the brush from the tap? Anyway Occams came to the party as usual. Great stuff. I love the original scent now, when at first I was a bit ho hum about it.

Brush: Erskine butterscotch TGN (finest 20mm) reknot (by @Pjotr )
Soap: Tabac
Razor: Fatboy (7)
Blade: Personna Blue
Aftershave: Metisol (thanks @filobiblic)

Nice shave!

My new brush arrived from @Mark1966 yesterday, so the baptism was presided over by the high priest of soaps - Tabac. Never used a TGN finest and it does feel quite nice on the face - solid but less scratchy than Simpsons Best. The handle on the Erskine proved excellent for bowl lathering, nice height, good heft and even the turn rings proved handy to keep the brush stood up in the bowl. Was also sceptical of such a small knot - 20mm looks minute compared to my usual 23mm+. But it generated a nice three pass dose of lather. Very happy with the brush…and does threaten the Simpsons Duke 2. …and now it has that sweet, sweet smell of Tabac in the knot - as it was still a little funky.

First time with Metisol. Smells good for you and does good for you. It's notched up above F/Extra for the post-shave rituals. Hmmm….

Yeah I lather and then dip the brush into some water in my hand then lather over my face, repeating until it's how I like it. Can't imagine a chubby synth haha.

And folks that want to try synth... I think the body shop is not a bad example of how they work you will love or hate it.

Brush: FS Silvertip
Pre-Shave: Occams Original Pre-Shave
Soap/Cream: Occams Original shaving soap
Razor: Progress
Blade: Personna super/LB [1]
After-shave: Floid Vigoroso

Home sweet home! Back into the shaving armoury but decided to reach for the Aussie favourite. Occams always delights.

Close shave. Floid smarted a little and continues to power on scent-wise.

Looking forward to the next few days of shaving with new products to try...

Fatboy, Fresh 7OC Black, the remainder of the Simpson's Citrus Burst cream sample from @borked and the Muhle Pure Badger.

Uneventful and ended up smooth.

Opinion ?

Not bad but does not have the staying power on the fragrance side as the Lavender & Vetiver. Still, a lighter scent is easier to deal with in summer.

I'd like to try the Peppermint & Rosemary as it is bordering on Fougère territory.

Mark sent me his Weber.

First shave with a Feather, and proraso. Very heavy razor, I'm more for lighter and more maneuverable. This is hard to go easy on and I've got a little irritation. Nothing major, just aware I've shaved.

I'll try some other blades, but initial impression is I won't get along with a razor this hefty. The longer classic handle might be good for my 30C though, or I could play safer and get a 20C, which is the long handle version.

My first week with the Webber was quite awkward and difficult too, but then it just clicked. Give it a few more shaves to get used to the heft.
