Absolutely excellent photo @alfredus - very different from your usual outdoor style. Did you get a new camera, or finally get a lightbox or what? Whatever, it's a brilliant image mate.

Oh, and the shave sounds really good too ;)
Thank you @Draco Noir - very kind of you my friend!

I have had this "lightbox" for ages and from time to time do a picture in it, especially when it is raining outside...I guess I discovered how important the B&W picture is, before you turn it into Sepia, so I played around with the right B&W filter a bit...

Pre: Myrsol Antesol
Brush: SOC
Soap: SV 70th
Razor: ATT S1
Blade: PSI
Post: alum, witch hazel, Myrsol Agua Balsamica

Fantastic lather today. Always happy with my boar brush. Key is to slowly introduce water in, then I'll be fine with most soaps.

Shave was smooth, blood free and irritation free, thanks to the pristine white lather produced by my Blond mistress.

Finished up with my usuals. Agua Balsamica is my favourite Myrsol scent. Very soothing and calm. Excellent shave achieved.

And the persistence pays off. An excellent BBS with the Tech. A few weepers, but that was cos I was feeling cocky with the ATG pass and buffed too aggressively. Remember this thing will bite. The first couple of shaves felt as if I'd never shaved before, but I'm a firm believer that you make unconscious adjustments with experience and I feel I nailed the angle today. The mantra was negative pressure. An incredibly close shave resulted, close as in I've never grown hair before. Happy.

A/S: DR Harris Sandalwood

Lovely relaxing 3 pass shave. The Simpsons Cream lathered beautifully and I was very happy with performance. I like the scent of this cream - a dry sandalwood with depth, and avoiding excess sweetness. Nice match with the DR Harris A/S.

A different type of shave today. Picked my Dad up from hospital today after his quadruple bypass surgery and he was wanting a shave, so i offered my services.

He had free reign of brush, blade, soap and A/S from my collection. He chose TOBS, Gillette Black india, Plissof syn, witch hazel and Nivea balm.

Was great to see my dad relax as i did a hot towl wrap first as i prepared a nice thick lather for him. He had 9 days of growth, so was a tough ask to cut, but a wtg pass mowed down more than i expected.

Finished off with a xtg and with a tiny touch up he was happy as. No song from the witchhazel so i mustve done a good job haha.

Nivea balm was great as always, i recommend it for its value for money, and he was impressed by the shave as id never shaved anyone elses face before.

It showed me today that its the small things in life that make lasting memories

Mastro Livi CarboInox USA

One of the benefits of this vacation is the lovely balcony I have in my room and from where I can enjoy a beautiful view. It is also a good place for shaving and - despite of the summer heat is quite intense here - sometimes you can enjoy a lovely breeze. It is an enchanting place for shaving and all I need is a basin with cold water and a hanging mirror. Not to mention the joy of shaving with this Mastro Livi CarboInox with scales in which it is inserted the USA flag, a razor proving - once again - the impeccable craftsmanship of this revered Italian artist and craftsman, a genuine expression of Italian style and art. The icing on the cake was my super cooling and freezing Thyrrenus aftershave, the perfect refreshing touch for this summer heat.

After yesterday's conversation about The Body Shop Maca Root I decided to use all I've got from them this morning.

Pre-Shave: Shower
Razor: Merkur Heavy Classic 34С Razor
Blade: Voskhod
Soap/Cream: The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Shaving Cream
Brush: Mühle Silvertip Fibre V2.0 Shaving Brush
ASB: The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Razor Relief
Cologne: The Body Shop Black Musk
Post-Routine: hot rinse, alum, cold rinse, balm, cologne

@SpeedyPC already posted a couple of videos about the cream. No need to review it again. Very good product.

A couple of notes about balm. I remember my the very first shave with Maggards Open Comb. I put too much pressure (first and huge mistake!). MR5 handle is heavy enough so you do not need pressure at all. I didn't knew that so I got a very bad razor burn. On that morning I tried to use Lucky Tiger (second mistake!). While I like Lucky Tiger it doesn't help with severe razor burn. I had to use something like Nivea sensitive balm at least. On that day my wife and I were in a shopping centre and she went to The Body Shop. I was browsing shelf and noticed a tester with Maca Root balm. Because I still had quite bad burn I decided to try. I had instant relief. No-brainer I bought it. Now it's in my balm rotation. It is seriously good.

The Body Shop Black Musk cologne. While it's kinda unisex fragrance and it's not bad at all I'm not using it much. My wife owns it and I'm stealing it from time to time (she doesn't mind), however I will not buy it solely for myself.

Pre-Shave Hot shower
Brush The Grooming Co Synthetic
Soap Strop Shoppe Via dell'Ambra
Razor Gem 1912 (US & UK versions)
Blade GEM SE
Post Shave Dickson's Original Witch Hazel & Argan Oil

Been experimenting with the two GEM 1912s that I picked up last month. Shaving every second day at the moment - mostly due to laziness and a cold bathroom ;)

The UK Gem 1912 has a longer hexagonal handle compared to the US version. The screws on the handles are slightly different size so I wasn't able to switch handles between heads like I had hoped.

The heads are almost identical varying only in the collar size between the head and handle (slightly higher on the UK version). All up this makes the UK version a longer and slightly heavier razor.

First shave with the UK 1912 was almost a disaster. Totally forgetting the number one rule of wet shaving - especially with SE blades - I used too much pressure and ended up with several nicks and way too much razor burn.
Dropping way back on the pressure for the following shaves gave a much more comfortable result, although it took a few tries to get rid of all the nicks. The shape of the 1912 head just seems designed to nick me under my nose.

Both razors have a very audible feedback and make getting the right angle easier if you listen to the blade - it really sings when you get it just so.

Loving both these razors, but may put the US one for sale soon as I really don't need two identical razors and prefer a longer handle.

Gem SE blades appear to last forever on shave 6 now and seems as smooth as day two (don't count day one as I messed that up)
