Good to know @nsavage about the Rockwell 6S mine is due to arrive tomorrow :) think I might post a before and after shot !! that is if I still have a face left ;)
You'll be fine @Tony Forsyth - On the Rockwell 6S, the plate number "showing" is the one you are using i.e. if you want a #3, the 3 will be visible on the handle side when you assemble.
Good luck!

Broke out the Mystic Water again today and imho one of their 'dark horses' the White Tea & Ginger, not as popular or bold as some of their other offerings but being a tea fan and someone who likes subtle scents as well as bold, I am very glad I acquired it as the scent is great and the performance, as with all Mystic Water soaps is excellent - rich buttery lather, plenty of cushion and superb glide with a post shave feel that is up there with the best of them. Mystic Water makes very good soap at a reasonable price, a first class artisan in the community.

Two passes, the efficiency, machining and precision of the R1 is really noticeable after shaving with the Gillette old timers, Above the Tie does an expensive, but very precise and beautiful looking razor that seats a Feather to perfection. A nice cold rinse off then on with the sometimes French pretentiousness piss take, more often English White Tea & Ginger balm and splash - I knew it was never going to be overly popular with people, but from talking to Michelle at Mystic neither is this scent of Soap except with a handful of dedicated tea and fine scent lovers.

Have a good day sports, shave like the bloody wild bastards you are :)

Wonderful shave with the Fine Superlite and you can find my review of the razor here https://paste-and-cut.com.au/community/threads/fine-superlite-slant.3420/. The Shaver Heaven of course created an outstanding lather. The 3 band Thater is the most cloud like feel out of all of the brushes that I own. Not as much backbone as the 2 bands but still not a floppy mop either. Happy shaving fellas!

Pre:
Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: Chubby 2 Super Badger
Soap: Tabac
Razor: ATT Kronos open comb M2
Blade: Vintage Gillette Spoiler (1)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
A/S: APR Suitably Attired Australian

Back in Oz, and a decent shave at last after close to two weeks with carts.
First use of the Valobra Glycerlanolina pre-shave soap - very impressed.
The Tabac was reliable as ever, with high quality persistent lather with good glide and slickness.

Sometimes there is a synergy between shaving products, with the result exceeding the sum of the parts. I found this to be the case with the ATT Kronos open comb razor and the Gillette Spoiler blade. The result was the closest shave I have yet experienced from only two passes. I did a third to take it to BBS, but it was not really necessary. Given the M2 is the mildest plate, the forthcoming shaves when I use the more aggressive plates will be very interesting.

A terrific all-round shave - no irritation or nicks, and great post-shave feel.

My first use of an APR aftershave splash. I certainly experienced the initial scent "blast" that others have mentioned. To me, the scent is very similar to Stirling's Sharp Dressed Man, but superior in terms of longevity. It also seems fresher and more natural. I really like it. Face feel is pleasant, notwithstanding the alcohol sting I get with any alcohol-based splash.

This is a brilliant effort from @todras!

The only negative feedback I have at this time is that the initial scent blast has quite a strong alcohol component. This fades quickly to leave the delightful residual scent notes, but this initial alcohol blast may be off-putting for some.

Pre:
Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: Chubby 2 Super Badger
Cream: Occams Crushed Lime
Razor: ATT Kronos open comb M2
Blade: Vintage Gillette Spoiler (2)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
A/S: APR Sandalwood, Lime and Verbena

Another great shave - it is so good to be using a decent razor again.

The Occams cream is a top quality local product. I find it more concentrated than many other creams, providing excellent lather that persists for several passes.
3 passes and very close to BBS. The Spoiler continues to work beautifully in the ATT open comb head.

Tried another APR splash - the Sandalwood, Lime and Verbena. This scent combination is very impressive. The blend is skillfully matched, such that the sandalwood is in good balance with the fresh citrus notes of the lime and verbena. The scent has good longevity and sillage. I am repeating myself from the last review, but I like it very much indeed. Again, the only negative feedback is the initial alcohol note to the scent when first applied, but it fades quickly.

Again, a really impressive effort, @todras. Congratulations!

Hey @TomG glad you liked it, really great review again man, you have an excellent grasp of scents and composition and I love reading your observations, feelings and opinions.

That tester, indeed all the testers of the SV - Sandalwood, Lime Verbena were made with Verbena Fragrance oil (which as we both know is inferior at the best of times) as I could literally not buy Verbena Essential Oil with any provenance. I have now sourced steam distilled Verbena (Lippia Citriodora) (150 mls actually, went a bit crazy when I found it) which will replace the fragrance oil from now on to ensure the entire scent is only made with EO's and absolutes - SV is a fantastic summer scent imho!

Now that you are back from your overseas professional commitment I will be in touch, I will get some of the new pure EO aftershave and balm out to you to replace what you have. As I mentioned prior I think, your assistance and advice (Alfredus and Greg's too), as a professional and highly skilled chemist during my learning, formulation and discovery process was indispensable :)

Aftershave: Reef Point Soaps - Fougere Santal

First shave using a proper razor in my 55 years on this planet and I would have to say it is the best shave I have ever had in my life. Now I know what I have been missing out on all those years. Well it is now time to make up for those lost years and I am so looking forward to the journey.

So today's journey started like this in the morning :-

And by early afternoon I ended up like this:-

And by late afternoon I ended up like this :-

Xtyubrc.jpg

Sorry for scaring you all:eek:

Now the shave went like this:-
wash face in warm water and then dab dry with a small soft towel.
Sit new brush in warm water for a few minutes.
Remove excess water from brush.
Load the brush from soap container.
Wet face again with warm water and lightly dry dab face.
Apply brush to face and work up a lather. (More practice needed here)
Razor already to start and set #3 as advised ;) you know who you are.
Start shaving WTG (No Probs and no weepers)
Wash face with warm water again and lightly dab dry.
Load Brush a little more and lather up again.
Start XTG (No probs and again no weepers) :)
Wash face with warm water again and lightly dab dry.
Load Brush a little more and lather up again.
This time I tried to tidy up small missed bits going WTG, XTG and a little ATG as I found some remaining whiskers under the chin either side.
Quick check of my face and pleased with the shave although I did not have any weaper's I did notice a little razor burn to the mo area just below my nose.
Wash face with warm water again and lightly dab dry.
Wash face with cold water and lightly dab dry.
Wash and clean razor and brush and clean up around the wash hand basin.

Pulled out the Fougere Santal AHhhhh Mmmmmm !!! a little on the hands and lightly pat onto the face "Absolutely Awesome"
Walk out of the bathroom and the wife says Mmmm you smell nice
an hour or two has past now and sitting at my desk I get that whiff of the fougere Santal absolutely awesome!!

Cheers
Tony

PS. All pointers and advice happily accepted.

Great post @Tony Forsyth! In some ways it is a pity to see such a magnificent beard disappear, but I suspect you will be getting some brownie points from the wife, and you've got some fun times ahead as you explore the wonderful world that it wet shaving.
