Pre Shave: Coconut Oil
Brush: Vulfix travel
Soap: Homemade HP
Razor: Gillette Slim (setting 5 first pass then 8)
Blade: Personna Platinum
Post Shave: Jojoba

Meet Slim, Oh most of you already have one already right. Slim and I got on just fine and it will definitely be part of the rotation. Couldn't really get into trouble with this even when I tried.
What do you others do to dry out Slim. Do you just hang it up or stand it on it's head. I was wondering is moisture going to be a threat to the mechanism. I think it's a 1967 model. I guess it's got this far. Does anyone drop oil down it's throat occasionally?

Yes Mate... I have the odd couple of Slims. Always watching for another one or two. While I doubt if a bit of moisture will completely destroy your beautiful razor that has withstood fifty years of bathrooms... it's always a good idea to keep them dry and clean... especially with adjustables. For one thing, bacteria loves nesting in moist conditions! A couple of drops of baby oil down the barrel via the handle bottom while the razor is standing handle-up on its open doors after cleaning and drying keeps 'em turning properly, too. I personally like to give 'em a bath in metho occasionally, followed by a soak in very hot water with dishwashing detergent. I follow that up with a rinse in running hot tap water. Then... a good spray from my aerosol computer air duster ($3.99 at junk shops) to dry any remaining water and dislodge and get rid of all those tiny bits of you that begin living in your razor, especially between the bottom plate and spring plate and in the barrel. A personal thing, but I always stand the Slim handle-up on its open doors, on a piece of old cloth so as to allow excess oil to drain out. Beyond that, it makes no difference really how you lay or stand it. Just remember that adjustable razors don't enjoy falling on tile, marble or slate floors. Oh... and never leave a wet blade in your razor! Even an SS one!

Pre shave wash - Velvet soap
Feather AC DX with Pro Super blade (12)
Tim's Greek Peach
Proraso brush
Re-lather and cold rinse

Another 3 pass BBS. This soap is a bit like using low fat cream, compared to of my other full fat tallow soaps... hard to describe but the feel is definitely there for me. Still reasonably slick, a nice scent and with decent post-shave feel so I'm not about to bin it anytime soon...

Thanks @littleaussiebleeder . That's helpful and all makes good sense. As soon I as went to use it I thought 'this bugger's going to be high maintenance' at least compared to my other razors.
I was considering buying a stainless media tumbler for cleaning reloading brass but I was reading one web site that talked about putting a slim in a sonic cleaner so I might go that way for my reloading brass and be able to use it for some shaving gear etc as well. I wonder whether that's what the ebay seller used on my slim as it's spotlessly clean.
Got my sights on a Mergress (I'm starting to wonder whether there's a forum called 'Wives of Paste and Cut' discussing methods of curing/curbing their husbands addictions). Do you have one or do you prefer vintage?

As a reloader of eleven different calibres (although three not too often) I used to tumble all cases (with corn media) before resizing/necking. Then I bought a sonic cleaner which is more efficient. At first I used the tumbler on my razors but realized it was too hard on the plating... constantly knocking chips off edges' I now only use only the sonic cleaner for razors although I still sometimes use the tumbler on some cases. The age of my razors so far ranges from pre-1920 to yesterday! Well, it arrived in Australia yesterday!

I don't know about cleaning razors but for tumbling brass the wet tumbler is the way to go.brings brass up spotless inside and out and cleaning primer pockets is a thing of the past. I have thought about running a 3 piece razor through it to see how it goes but it would not be good for adjustable razors I think. I might try with a spare slim I got for next to nothimg

Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Soap: Proraso Green
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (+3)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Green (D2)
Lotion: Omega Alum Stick / Mennen Skin Bracer / Gillette Apres-Resage Gel

Found the Proraso Green refreshing in the muggy Midwest heat. It is summer here, the official date of the calendar not withstanding. The daylight extends until nearly 10 p.m. With all the outdoor activity of late, I've simply been using the Slim daily. Not a problem--it's the best razor I've ever used.

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: RazoRock Baby Smooth Al
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Paladin Lotus
Lather: Mystic Water Bergamot, Cedarwood & Juniper
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil

Just a fantastic Friday shave - stellar lather from the Mystic Water soap (picture here) and a close yet very smooth shave from the Baby Smooth loaded with the Ladas.

I hope you all enjoy your shaves (y)

They are not really all that high maintenance, @Pbgoose. but given that they hold an incredibly sharp piece of virtually surgical steel as it's pulled, dragged and slid across your throat and face, I always reckon it's worth a modicum of care and protective maintenance! I am no longer game to count my razors now as I fear my beautiful and very intelligent wife can read my mind, and as she has a highly trained mathematical brain, it would not take her long to place an accurate value on my razors and allied purchases! I have lately bought close to twenty modern razors to add to my forty five-odd vintage ones. I have three others coming from the U.S. and the U.K. ATM as well. The Slims are still my favourites though I regularly use a rotation of six ot seven these days.

Did you mean you only use the sonic cleaner on cases now? Between you and @beerhog I think I'm trending back to stainless wet media tumbling now.

No. I use it on razors and cases. I have never had to clean primer pockets separately since using the sonic cleaner. I have heard some cheap sonics perform rather poorly on cases... not my expensive one, though. It cleans razors well but I always use it on a fairly low setting as I fear damaging to the plating on a high setting. It probably would be okay, though. I do use the tumbler on several cases.

Am I able to start conversation w/ you? Tried but it didn't work.

Pre: Washpool Farm Facial Cleansing Soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Semogue Owners Club Boar
Soap: Jabonman Eufros Rosa Bourbon
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: Vintage Schick Plus Platinum (1)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Balm: Jabonman Eufros Rosa Bourbon

Just love the scent of the Rosa Bourbon - it fills the bathroom for a day or two.
Three passes for a DFS+. As usual, The smoothness of the vintage Schick blade suckers me into applying a wee bit too much pressure - hence a touch of irritation. This was gone following my customary soak in residual lather; and further soothed by both the Emulsion and the Jabonman Balm.

Brush: Maggards Synthetic
Soap: B&M, Cologne Russe
Razor: Ever Ready 1924
Blade: Gem SS
Post: APR, Jasmine & White tea, balm

Early morning Saturday shave, started badly with a blunt blade and a casual attitude, this little tough guy soon gave me a little nick and reminded me to change the blade and show some respect.
I liked the scent of the soap but not as much as I hoped I would, soon smothered by the APR, which is always nice

Have a great weekend. Enjoy your shaves.

The grandest shaving Safety Razor in all razordom!

Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade(s): PolSilver (1)
Brush: Simpsons Super Chubby 2
Soap/Cream: Soaps of Awesometown
Post: Thayers Aloe Vera Medicated

Back to where it all started for me razor wise. Slotted a new PolSilver in and went to work. Either my angle is off or something as I really had to apply some pressure to get it to cut as close as I would like. Will try again tomorrow.
