Brush: DR Harris H3 Best Badger
Cream: Lea Classic
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Splash: Floid Vigeroso

Loads of lovely lather from the Lea Cream. Such an easy shave with this combo.
Three comfortable passes - was pretty damn close after two, actually.
I am at ease with the larger size of the Futur razor, and the Personna blade worked well for me in this razor.

Paul Weller - You Do Something To Me

Razor: unknown vintage German straight
Soap: MWF
Brush: whipped dog silvertip

This was my first attempt at honing, so while I got a shave it wasn't perfect, I need to spend a bit more time on the stones with this one to get a smoother edge. That said I'm presentable and am not bleeding so that's a plus.

Razor: Merkur Barber Pole 39C
Blade: Rapira
Brush: Old Badger
Soap: Dr Harris Sandalwood
Post shave: Jojoba and Hemp Oil

Usually when I pull out the DEs I'm thinking 'what a great and easy way to shave' until I get to five oclock, then I remember why I love straights. But I wouldn't be without the DEs.

Re-lather and cold rinse

Almost didn't need to shave this morning after my 3 passes yesterday. Quite a new experience to have a shave last that long.

In a big rush so a 2 pass DFS today instead. Got a couple of weepers as I was in such a hurry and got a bit over confident. This soap and brush combo was very impressive though - I just used the puck as a shave stick and then loaded some more with the big boar and very quickly worked up a thick, dense, slick lather adding water along the way. No real tendency to foam at all - unique in a veggie soap for me.

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: RazoRock Baby Smooth Al
Blade: Ladas (1)
Brush: Thäter 2-band Bulb
Lather: Australian Private Reserve Idoru
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil
Scent: Australian Private Reserve Idoru
The new scent from Australian Private Reserve is again spectacular. The scent in the soap is very faint, when just opening the tub, but starts to shine, when lathering up. I assume some sort of "blooming" would enhance the scent even more - but I am fortunate enough to have the EdP, and that is just magnificent. The lather was - as expected - just fantastic (picture here) and the Baby Smooth paired with the Ladas delivered the shave I needed: close, yet smooth and easy.

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday (y)

Soap: B&M Cologne Russe
Post: B&M Cologne Russe

First shave since being laid up sick. I took to the 5 days growth with The General, but it was painful and just tugged way too much. After about 2 strokes with that I grabbed my trusty Rockwell, put the #4 plate in and it just glided through. Feels great to have a smooth face again!

Introduction to the Rockwell 6c

Date: 11/06/2017
(following on from acquisition)
Pre: Shower / pre-shave oil
Brush: 1092 Synthetic
Cream/Soap: TOBS Sandalwood
Razor: Rockwell 6c (baseplate #2 - then #4)
Blade: Feather (1)
Post: Alum Block / Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel / Fine Santal

My first run with the Rockwell 6c, TOBS, and Santal. It initially felt very scarey - almost like a first date... Not even kidding. Awkwardness everywhere.
I loaded a Feather blade as I find them sharp and predictable and used the #2 baseplate.

The TOBS was nice, but didn't reach the lofty expectations I had built. I'm perfectly happy with its performance; just not blown away. However, I suspect it will be my go-to travel soap as it seems reliable and it comes in a tube.

I have to say, my first couple of strokes with the 6c were terrible. Baseplate #2 is so mild that, try as I might, I just couldn't feel the blade at all. I'm not even sure it was cutting hair. I started to get cranky which is when I start to make mistakes. But, resisting the urge to just use more force, I decided to flip the baseplate to #4 before calling it quits. And I am so glad I did!

Baseplate #4 turned a horrible shaving experience into a breeze! I could now see, hear and feel the blade. But, the razor is weighted just 'so' that I don't need to do any more than orient it. And the safety-bar, in all its chromed shineyness, seems to slip over my skin like it were ice.
While the blade is oriented far more aggressively (and efficiently) than my 34c, it seems to irritate my skin less while also giving a closer shave. The best of both worlds!

The Fine Santal too was just OK. I had built up a very high expectation of it (like the TOBS). Again, it's perfectly good. But, not amazing. It's worth noting that I am starting to think that my nose is incapable of smelling "real" (esque) sandalwood. I just can't seem to pick-up on much of anything. The Fine Santal just smells like mild liquorish to me. I'll keep using it for a bit. But, I don't think I'll buy it again.

For all the drama, I actually experienced a great shave. The result was better than an average shave with my 34c.

I look forward to seeing what happens next.

The Rockwell 6c - The sequel.

Date: 14/06/2017
Pre:
Shower / pre-shave oil
Brush: 1092 Synthetic
Cream/Soap: B&M Cologne Russe
Razor: Rockwell 6c (baseplate #4)
Blade: Feather (2)
Post: Alum Block / Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel / B&M Cologne Russe a/s

Second shave with the 6c. More confident this time now that I know what to expect.
Cologne Russe perfomed well (as per B&M). It's not my favourite scent. But, my wife seems to quite like it, so that's a plus.

The 6c perfomed even better than the last run and I managed to get one of the best shaves I've ever had, with only 2 passes and no cleanups! I love my 34c. But, the 6c just gels with me so much better - it already feels like an extension of my hand.

I previously thought that maybe I would be better off with milder razors - because of my terrible skin. But, the 6c has shown this to be false. A sharp, efficient shave seems to leave my skin much happier than a forced mild one.
I will certainly try baseplates #5 and #6 in a few weeks to see where that takes me. But, #4 is already nicely aggressive and the results speak for themselves. In fact, it has made me want to buy a Feather Artist Club SS as it seems to be the logical conclusion to "aggressiveness/efficiency". I won't do it for at least a few months, since I'm still playing with my new toy.
But, I shan't wait too long, lest I enter the shavepocalypse unprepared.

Ok, I'll stop spamming the forums now...

Brush: Tony Forsyth P&C LE 2017 Platypus
Soap: Cella
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)

Splash: APR Winterfell

Another great shave. Got a bit careless with the effortless performance of the Futur, and suffered a nick on the chin. Otherwise, pretty much spot on.
Three comfortable passes for a very close shave. The Winterfell is a worthy addition to the formidable APR Stable - a brilliant interpretation of Chypre. I love the Landanum in the base notes, adding a slightly sinister edge to the otherwise elegant spice/wood/forest vibe.
Kudos yet again to @todras - creativity and attention to detail again yielding a great result.
